Or, it’s two water bottles and two portable batteries with USB-C and wireless charging, all for $20 total… if you put it like that, it’s kind of tempting
@agnesnutter@user56101147 Having once ended up with a box containing 1 water bottle with a functioning Bluetooth speaker attached, and 11 water bottles with a speaker-like paperweight attached, I concur with this comment.
If these were wireless and it functioned my turning my phone in to a coaster I would totally buy it. Or if it also had a speaker…. I have an obsession with speakers. I would buy a banana speaker. Do you sell banana speakers?
One thing stands out from the product description: “Soft-touch battery…”
If that means what I think it means, i.e. that it uses soft-touch plastic (instead of actual rubber) then in a few years the plastic will become sticky and unpleasant to handle. I would avoid any product that uses soft-touch plastic.
If you could heat, or sanitize, or aerate or mix something into or do any other useful thing with the water using electric power, I’d say interesting idea.
It’s a bold marketing strategy to sell a product that combines water and electricity with no other function other than to have them both in the same container.
Not that it would be impossible for some mehtizen to create a functionality to combine both in an interesting way…
@mehcuda67 Agreed. I don’t carry a water bottle and am pretty meticulous about charging my phone before leaving. But if these bottles could work as in the above image, I would buy.
@mhoop1 Tell them to start a video recording first. The result might go viral and turn them into internet celebrities. Always got to be watching out for your kids!
The only use case that makes remotely any sense: On your bike with a usb-headlight.
But even then you’d probably have to stop and turn off the light to take a sip of water.
But why the wireless charger? You either have to use the bottle upside down or unscrew the bottom.
So I agree with @stolicat: Something designed to buy for your kids or grandkids. If it also had the tiktok, I’d just be perfect for them.
And if @user56101147 is right, the charger will brake soon and they can turn the bottom into a secret stash container.
@formfeed For someone that carries their water bottle everywhere, having a charger handy is a nice benefit – whether it be at the beach, a coffee shop, on the patio at a restaurant etc. You can use the wireless function but you can also just plug the USB-C cable into the side. Doubles as a weighted bottom making it harder for the bottle to tip over, too.
What would have been inventive is if it were a shake recharger (there was a small turbine in the middle of the bottle that your drink would flow around)

@agnesnutter based on the Amazon reviews, odds are good you’re just getting two water bottles and no (functioning) chargers for $20.

What’s with today’s clicky face?
@heartny Just a normal day on the calendar. I wish it were warmer out, maybe I’d go camping, perhaps near a lake.
@atannir @heartny Apparently it’s to pay homage to the movie named for today’s date: Friday The 13th!!
@IndifferentDude Oh, I thought it was distorted Crocs.
@atannir @heartny @IndifferentDude with all the white dots I first thought of a Petri dish showing bacteria growth.

@Num1Zero FWIW, it claims they are wireless.
These were on the mehrathon yesterday for the same price.
If she were still with us, this is the sort of thing my mother would give her adult children for christmas.

@Atomizer or perhaps “Soft-touch battery” means a LiPo battery – 24 oz of water sitting on top of a pile of Lithium – what could possibly go wrong?
If you could heat, or sanitize, or aerate or mix something into or do any other useful thing with the water using electric power, I’d say interesting idea.

@mediocrebot Now you’re talking. In for 6.

24 oz? I drink that with two swigs. It might as well be a battery baby bottle.
It really is a silly product. Perfect for Meh. Also perfect got white elephant gifts.

This is so stupid. Ordered it to give one to each of my kids, can’t wait to hear when they wash the batteries.

Great, now I can enjoy my own Charged Lemonade since Panera phased them out because of lawsuits.
