For the record, “This is only as cheap as it would be at Walmart, a store known for cheapness itself,” is maybe not the sick burn that the poster intended it to be.
@shahnm No, but if you drop a chip of dry ice in on top of them, you could use the tumblers or mugs as a mini battery cooler to keep a dozen AAs chilled for several hours.
R as in “Robert Irvine has a great R value”
O as in “Oh my God, it’s Robert Irvine”
B as in “Better get these, they’re from Robert Irvine”
E as in “Everybody loves mugs from Robert Irvine”
etc. etc.
@stinks Those People for Bikes ones were (are) really good quality, I still have some! My kids lost several though…
The Robert Irvine ones are just ok, I got some during the mehrathon.
The big 30 oz tumblers are pretty good, but not at the same level of quality as the (overpriced) Yeti ones. The Yeti ones have much better tops with a magnetic slider, and the steel is a lot heavier gauge. They hold temp for longer.
The ugly coffee cups would be fine, but the “dishwasher safe” fake wood finish is already peeling on them from not too many washes in the dishwasher.
I’ll probably put them through until all the finish comes off, or my wife puts them in the recycle bin!
I bought two of these last time and they really hold temps. Ice lasts all day in my cold drinks. I kinda assumed Robert wanted these gone, because when I look at his logo quickly (and there’s very little contrast between the logo color and the mug with the fake wood background), it says, “Rodent InVine”. I don’t think Bob Irvine wants to be associated with rats in his cups. Hence, scooping up a great cup at a great price on Meh and trying to put the logo on the side away from me to avoid thinking about rats or mice as I sip.
@docF94 In my experience, most of the mugs and tumblers under 30 oz. use close to the same size as the majority of units except some Yeti. I’ve swapped between Reduce and a couple of others. (The kind that use a screw-in lid are all oddballs; finding spare lids for them is hopeless.)
30, 32 and 40 oz. tumblers also mostly use a common size, but it’s larger than the under-30 group. I have a bunch of different brands of the 40-oz-with-handle kind, and the lids swap around freely. There’s a design with a flip-over deal instead of a slide, and because I have had lids get broken in the past, I have found places to get spares of that design, and I keep several on hand.
Hey look, I got featured in the writeup! I still stand by my assessment of cryptid cooler company.
@PooltoyWolf
Congrats!
@PooltoyWolf @chienfou
Cool!
I liked this:
@chienfou @Kyeh I laughed at that too.![:joy:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f602.png)
@PooltoyWolf I got quoted too, we’re famous!![:laughing:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f606.png)
These are… not batteries.
@shahnm No, but if you drop a chip of dry ice in on top of them, you could use the tumblers or mugs as a mini battery cooler to keep a dozen AAs chilled for several hours.
@shahnm OBTW, I think you forgot this:![:unamused:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f612.png)
@shahnm @werehatrack Or, you could put potato in each one & wire 'em up. If you can handle the excitement, that is.![:smiley:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f603.png)
@shahnm @werehatrack That should be a potato…i don’t think mashed would work!![:rolling_eyes:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f644.png)

Those are not tumblers.

This is a tumbler…

@sdencar don’t give up when you’re almost to the finish line
@sdencar But does everyone love Robert Irvine’s mug?
@robson @sdencar I vote no.![:woman_raising_hand_tone1:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f64b-1f3fb-2640.png)
I didn’t think Robert Irvine was all that good as an insulator. What’s his R-value?
@werehatrack I’m guessing higher than his Q-rating…?
Okay not nearly as unique as the People for Bikes insulated cups, but I’ll allow it.

Those cups are a disappointment!
@robson Can second that the People for Bikes Camelbaks were pretty good.
These? Ooof.
/image arrested development I’ve made a terrible mistake

The tumblers are clearly an appreciating asset. Get in on the ground floor, people!
Robert Irvine may be a real dish, but not my kind of dish.
@hchavers Eww.
Surprisingly great. Bought another pair. Even though they were a dollar more this time.
Funny, just saw this on Slickdeals

One of mine arrived damaged last time. Metal at the bottom cracked. Could slice user’s finger
@bla5t0ff Sounds like the perfect set up for a lawsuit, depending on your level of commitment. First step: do you have a table saw?

@chienfou cylindrical may be preferable to prolate.
@chienfou @werehatrack …and both better than prolapsed.
@werehatrack
Thanks

I just want more meh coffee, uh, highballs I guess? The paint is peeling on my current set because I take them everywhere.
Any chance there’s an all-purpose better lid for spill proofing and retaining temperature longer? My go to Takeya lid doesn’t fit.

Not a fan of this guy, but his wife is smokin’ hot.
The slide on lid parts last about 5 months before the plastic breaks… wouldn’t buy again.
