The issue with these could be nonexistent software support (or software from a shady Chinese gibberish company that might “phone home” from your phone).
Looks like the app is LeMinyun: Play Store or App Store. Although it claims it doesn’t collect any data, it sure asks for a lot of permissions (at least the Play Store version does).
@agnesnutter Maybe? And BetaMax was better and HD-DVD was better and laser disks were better etc. etc. I suppose? Mini USB is legacy and no one has used it for years.
@TimW As far as I can see it, Micro USB and Mini USB are different in two ways: size and sturdiness. Micro is better in that it’s much smaller, but if the device you’re connecting to is thicker than a quarter inch, I genuinely don’t see any reason why you should ever use Micro USB (except for (in 2024) it being more likely that people have spare cables for it).
Assuming you’re picking an outdated USB plug type instead of USB-C.
@agnesnutter micro-usb can provide more power for charging, and SUPPOSEDLY micro-usb is sturdier…at least that was one of the reasons from back in the day when the move was made to micro-usb. Anywho…it’s been a moot point for 12 years or so.
I can’t comment on the bluetooth and whatnot with this product, but if you don’t have a label maker, get one. You will be surprised at the number of reasons you will find to label things in a bold, easily readable font.
@DLPanther I have two label makers. I have a sophisticated one that has an app for labeling pantry staples with name, use by date, cooking time for dry pasta, etc. And an emergency standby label maker if I need a simple label urgently.
And yes, my label maker has a label on it that says “label maker”.
@mbersiam my handwriting isn’t great, and I often use them in the kitchen. The ink never rubs off on wet hands and the plastic tape can go through the dishwasher without dissolving into a sticky mess.
@squishybrain This looks like a Nelko-brand label printer I bought a few months ago; you can find labels for those (which I’d bet fit this one) on Amazon.

@ShotgunX Software support and an expectation that there might not be any in the future is why I still use a
50+ year oldvintage Dymo label maker.(I have a few Brother ones too; they’re completely standalone, though.)
Why do I want to label my Bluetooth?
@ybmuG Is that a euphemism?
@hughgrection @ybmuG Amazing username.

“Mini USB” charging…now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time
@TimW These aren’t the label makers your looking for.
@TimW Better than Micro USB…

These are old enough to have Mini-USB charging…I’d be surprised if the battery was still good in these.

@DLPanther eh… I have a roll of masking tape and a sharpie.
@DLPanther @hughgrection
I love that you call your second unit the “emergency standby label maker.”
I have received many eye rolls from my wife for having things like “emergency backup sharpies” and “quick access fingernail clippers.”
@mbersiam my handwriting isn’t great, and I often use them in the kitchen. The ink never rubs off on wet hands and the plastic tape can go through the dishwasher without dissolving into a sticky mess.
Anyone know where to get replacement labels?

@Atomizer How do you like it?
@Atomizer Thanks so much!
