@shubydoo Oh, none of the photos showed it flickering. They do show a white and yellow mode. But previous outdoor solar ones did show a flicker so I know meh knows how to make an animated gif. Wonder why they didn’t do it this time.
I should read the specs next time before making conclusions.
Meanwhile late last month I ordered one of those $4 iphone cases on sidedeal (which doesn’t have a forum so I’m posting here instead) as a present for a friend. I took the free (with subscription) shipping which supposedly can take a few weeks to go out, since I wasn’t in a hurry. A few minutes later I decided an extra would be nice, so I ordered another one.
I figured the idea of the non-expedited shipping was that if you ordered several things in a week or two period, they could bundle them together and save costs by shipping in one package. It seemed very clever.
Imagine my surprise when I got two shipping notifications for the two iphone cases, a day or two later. Same product, same pre-filled address, two orders a few minutes apart. No 1-2 week shipping delay. The two packages duly arrived though I didn’t get around to picking them up til yesterday.
I can’t knock a company for shipping promptly when they didn’t have to, but you know Meh, when you offer free shipping on $4 items, people are ok with it being slow. So it’s fine if you optimize your logistics a little to combine packages. It saves some envelopes and stuff too .
@phr On a related note, I ordered a Chefman pressure cooker from morningsave and it wouldn’t do the whole pressure cooking part. I sent an email to mercatalyst support, and they told me to contact the manufacturer, because they offer a 1 year warranty. So I did. Chefman responded by telling me they don’t make that model or any pressure cookers anymore. They offered a fucking electric tea kettle or a coffee maker as a replacement. I told them that was unacceptable and then contacted mercatalyst again. They sent out a replacement pressure cooker that arrived 2 or 3 days later, while Chefman ignored 3 emails and a Facebook message. I think the mercatalyst sites are all about good customer service, even if it costs them a little money. Chefman is about making broken garbage and ignoring customers in hopes they’ll just go away. That’s why I’m never buying anything from Chefman again, and I’ll keep buying random things I don’t necessarily want or need from meh and friends.
@warpedrotors In biblical times they burned olive oil in their lamps. I suppose if you can deal with the smoke most any vegetable oil will do. But you could stock up on cheap torch oil now.
@w5ukf I used to bring into the house my outdoor solar lights when the power went out. I’d rig them to hang from the ceiling fan (not with it on) to light up the living room. Worked pretty well.
I’ve got to come to terms with my flashlight a-holic issues!!! I’ve already got the solar tiki torches and soon to be here speaker LED torches and a bunch of lanterns so I’m going to have to pass on this even though my hand is shaky as I compose this very text ( NO LED LANTERNS, NO LED LANTERNS… )
@bigtom67 I have on good authority (my sister) that you can’t have too many flashlights. So you are safe. Buy as many of them as you want with her blessing.
@manhattnik@RiotDemon I missed them and am waiting for them to come back to meh. I hope they do cause theyre the perfect gift for a bunch of my goth friends.

That would be a win if it had a third mode for flickering as if it had a candle in it.
@cengland0 From the description, it seems like it has both a steady white, and a flickering yellow mode.
@cengland0 Wouldn’t that be the “flickering flame effect” listed in the description?
@shubydoo Oh, none of the photos showed it flickering. They do show a white and yellow mode. But previous outdoor solar ones did show a flicker so I know meh knows how to make an animated gif. Wonder why they didn’t do it this time.

How many lums?
@hammi99 100 lumens according to Amazon
@hammi99 @seraphimcaduto So basically it’s ambiance, not useful lighting.
@seraphimcaduto @TheTexasTwister more decorative than practical sadly
@hammi99 @seraphimcaduto @TheTexasTwister
Wait, you never find ambiance useful? That’s unfortunate.
@RedOak @seraphimcaduto @TheTexasTwister already have ambient lightning lamps . . .
@hammi99 @RedOak @seraphimcaduto @TheTexasTwister I have to ask… what kind of ambiance are you hoping to create with these? “Deliverance” maybe?
@Trinityscrew
Why does your mind go there?
@RedOak Why you gotta kink shame our friend @Trinityscrew?
@Trinityscrew @winfield really, did you read what they said?
Is Henrietta part of the deal?

If it won’t set everything on fire when I drop it, then I don’t want it.
@ShotgunX You need the ones with the optional sodium and phosphorus modes.
@ShotgunX Yeah, but if Mrs. O’Leary had one of these, Chicago would be a different place today!

Amehance. Mehbe not.
OH MY GOD THEY GAVE GLEN A LANTERN TO LOVE HIM AND PET HIM AND CALL HIM GEORGE!!!
@shahnm lol I’ll bet most of these kids here have no idea what you’re talking about. lol
@shahnm @Tadlem43. They will consult the googles for understanding but they won’t ever get the true experience of it.

These look pretty cool, and I’m a lantern enthusiast. I’m in!

@PooltoyWolf there just aren’t enough Merlin references these days

LED lanterns; old is new again.
You’ll want real oil lanterns when the revolution starts and we all lose power. The streets will be full of dead batteries.
@tweezak at least there will be room in the refrigerators then.
@tweezak two things:
@tweezak But where will I get my lamp oil?
@tweezak"You’ll want real oil lanterns when the revolution starts and we all lose power. The streets will be full of dead."
Fixed it for you!
@Trinityscrew I thought about going there but decided against it. How about “I’ll give up my batteries when they pry them from my cold dead hands.”
@warpedrotors In biblical times they burned olive oil in their lamps. I suppose if you can deal with the smoke most any vegetable oil will do. But you could stock up on cheap torch oil now.
@tweezak @warpedrotors Oil from the fat of your adversaries
@tweezak @warpedrotors But don’t use liquid paraffin in lamps, or paraffin-based wax candles indoors due to their origin as petroleum by-products.

I’d love to buy these if only my flashlight/lamp closet were not already overflowing.
Dang. If these had timers they would be perfect for Halloween.
@RiotDemon You could just turn them off when you’re finished using them.
@Trinityscrew I have my outdoor decorations on a timer so I don’t have to mess with them.
@RiotDemon - I was thinking the same thing. My wife has some LED candles with that feature, and they’re great. Oh, well.
@RiotDemon I was just messing with you. A timer would be nice.
need a light to be useful when the power goes out…anything else is useless
@w5ukf I used to bring into the house my outdoor solar lights when the power went out. I’d rig them to hang from the ceiling fan (not with it on) to light up the living room. Worked pretty well.

Nope. Saving my $$ for an Amazon Prime Days deal on something I might actually need, and use (more than once, on Oct. 31).
I’m actually looking for some solar lanterns. Good job being meh, Meh.
Waiting for bluetooth (someone was going to say it).
@manhattnik I guess you missed these before, but you can still pick them up on morningsave.
@manhattnik @RiotDemon I missed them and am waiting for them to come back to meh. I hope they do cause theyre the perfect gift for a bunch of my goth friends.
@ardycake @manhattnik if you click the picture, you can buy them now.
They have actual kerosene lanterns at Kohl’s and Walmart for about 9 bucks each. If you’d prefer the real thing.
3 modes, really, if you count Off as a mode.
