@eeterrific@Limewater I came here to say just that. I actually like brown noise on these machines better than white noise. Also it doesn’t always drwon out cat noise, neighbor dog noise, 6am lawnmower noise, overhead helicopter headed to the nearby hospital noice and especially the gun fire noise we have had in our parking lot twice in the last three ish months.
I love white noise machines, but need one that will run the whole night through. Therefore I just use my phone. Tell the white noise to shut off 5 minutes before my alarm each morning. Then if I wake up and still hear white noise I know I’m good to keep sleeping.
I bought this for $2.001 more last summer. The are fine although they don’t fill the room in quite the same way as a bigger one. I supposed you could do it in stereo putting one on each side of you. Most sounds don’t “cycle” in a noticeable way. They have different kinds of “white” noise which really do sound different. They have are some stupid sounds on there too but enough decent one likely you’d find one you liked.
“Comforting Ambient Lights: Choose from 6 different ambient nightlight colors with adjust brightness levels to create the best sleeping environment.
Adjustable Volume & Timer: Volume levels can reach as low or as high as needed to effectively block out unwanted noises. The auto-off timer gives you the ability to automatically turn off the device after 15, 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.”
@mehvid1 You can turn off the light. It can run until you turn it off if you don’t use the timer. The controls are a bit of a PITA as they are touch controls not well marked.
It really has a ton of decent sounds on here. I got a few of these in an irk a while back and stuck them all around the house. I wouldn’t say it’s very portable since it has to be plugged in. But it’s small enough you could take it on a trip and it doesn’t take up a lot of space, so I guess that’s what they mean by “portable”

My brain inexplicably read that as “Leftist White Noise Sound Machines”, which I TOTALLY WOULD HAVE BOUGHT but guess I’ll settle for falling asleep to Jon Stewart podcasts?…
I got one of these last time, quite decent. Build quality seems good, sound quality is very good for something this size. White noise actually sounds like white noise and not just pure awfulness, I’m partial to #7 (although apparently it’s actually brown noise? IDK).
Unfortunately, the rain/storm sounds are more just rushing water sounds. I got it for a rain setting, but white noise #7 is a bearable substitute lol.
@Kyeh Interesting and after sampling some clips on youtube I find I do prefer brown over white noise.
But why buy this machine when I can just listen to it online?
Isn’t it interesting that the bedside tables shown have nothing except the product on them? My own has an Echo Show 8, a BiPAP, an Echo gen 2, a wireless charger, various OTC Med bottles, a pen/pencil holder, a pulse oximeter, an open bottle of ginger beer, a box with glucose test strips, a salt shaker, and various papers.
@Pufferfishy Do you want us to yell this at the ceiling? Translating websites/services into noise in the bedroom requires more than plugging in a hockey puck-sized speaker and pushing a button.
I’ve just recently learned how useful brown noise is for falling asleep… especially with neighbors like mine, who are (kinda) loud. I typically use a noise app on my phone, but having a dedicated device probably wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Too bad you’re not selling a “web site serving machine”.
Why not orange noise? Or purple? Or red…yeah, red…if it were red noise, I’d buy it.
@eeterrific Don’t press your luck. White noise is probably better than green noise.
@eeterrific I don’t have a chicken. But I do have a dog. Inspired by her, I’m sure:
@eeterrific Pretty much your alternative is pink noise.
@eeterrific Fun Fact! This model also includes Brownian Noise, or Brown Noise, which is ALSO sometimes referred to as Red Noise.
So you’re pretty much on the hook to buy it now.

@eeterrific @Kidsandliz @Limewater Definitely don’t want to be accused of being a brown-noiser…
@eeterrific @Limewater @MrNews I didn’t know you hear with your nose… but if you butt kiss you might bet a brown nose
White noise generator? How about a webpage generator?

@melonscoop Clever idea although these also run the entire night. It is just the timer on them if you want to use a timer isn’t long enough for that.
@Kidsandliz Huh, that’s actually helpful product information. Thank you. Are you working on commission here?
@melonscoop Hahaha If I was working on commission clearly I’d be broke
I bought this for $2.0

Did Santa have one of these last Christmas Eve? Is that why he missed me?
@phendrick Yeah, he was running late, that’s why he didn’t get there to put the coal in your stocking.
My wife does not want any noise. That’s why I’m sleeping on the couch more often.

Do these have an echo? Cuz they sure do have a déjà vu quality, as i feel I’ve seen them many times before.
@ircon96 Yes the echo is getting weaker by $2.01 since last summer.
My brain inexplicably read that as “Leftist White Noise Sound Machines”, which I TOTALLY WOULD HAVE BOUGHT but guess I’ll settle for falling asleep to Jon Stewart podcasts?…
@cactus165 Do you want to sleep, or do you want to be woke?
@cactus165 @Rowsdower
Same with reading Leftist.
Need one too, if avoiding responses to 1/6 committee.
[Simply having a wonderful…]

@Telanis I like the brown noise one best too.
A lot of people are saying brown noise is better than white noise:

@Kyeh Interesting and after sampling some clips on youtube I find I do prefer brown over white noise.

@Kyeh @macromeh Because youtube might throw in an ad in there occasionally?
/youtube south park the brown noise

These are solid, great if you have tinnitus.
I already hear too much white leftist noise.

@opsxyl3n Technology isn’t for everyone I guess.
I hate white noise machines with a passion.
@OnionSoup Fortunately, these appear to have no commitment or enthusiasm at all.
@werehatrack oh, these ones are probably alright then. Thank you.
@OnionSoup It’s good to find your passion.
/showme Leftist White Noise Sound Machine
@mediocrebot Thanks bot, but I was thinking something more like this:
I’d be in if it doubled as a bluetooth speaker as well…opportunity missed.
@masterT Not even so much as an Aux-In port.
If you have little kids, these are fantastic noise machines for travel. I got them last time. Cheap, effective, and oddly stylish.
Got a pair of these when they were sold previously. My wife says it helps vs. her tinnitis.

I’m in.
