@mdszy Bubbas are bigger (the Bubba vacuum bottles that Meh has previously sold have been 20 or 24 oz) and aren’t muddled up with the fancy autoseal lid. I want more Bubbas!
@DrunkCat Does Contigo make an outer thread container? If not, can you give an example of an outer thread brand/model container and why is that design superior? Thanks!
"A Thermos, as you probably already know, is just a special kind of container that insulates whatever liquid it is containing. That means that it is very difficult for heat to flow in or out of the Thermos. However, a Thermos is not a perfect insulator, and there is some heat that does flow in or flow out.
"Before we look at the answer to your question, there are a couple of things you should know about heat flow. The first thing is that heat always flows from the hotter object to the colder object. For example, when you put an ice cube into a glass of warm water, the heat from the water melts the ice cube; the ice cube does not make the water hotter! The second thing is that the rate of heat flow between two objects is bigger when the temperature difference between them is bigger. That means that if you put an ice cube into a glass of cold water and a glass of hot water, heat will flow from the hot water to the ice cube faster than from the cold water to the ice cube.
"Now let’s consider what happens when you have liquid contained in a Thermos, and see if we can come up with a plausible answer to your question. When a hot liquid is contained, heat will flow from the liquid, out of the Thermos, and into the room because the liquid is at a higher temperature than the room. Water boils at 100 degrees C, so let’s estimate the temperature of your generic hot liquid to be somewhere between 80 and 100 degrees C. Room temperature is approximately 25 degrees C, which means that there is a difference of 55-75 degrees between the temperature of the hot liquid and the temperature of the room. When a cold liquid is contained in the Thermos, heat will flow from the room into the Thermos. Since water freezes at 0 degrees C, let’s estimate the temperature of your generic cold liquid to be somewhere between 0 and 10 degrees C. Then the difference in temperature between the cold liquid and the room is only 15-25 degrees; this is much less than the 55-75 degree difference that we got with the hot liquid!
“When we taste the hot (or cold) liquid, imagine that we think that it tastes bad if the temperature has changed by 10 degrees. Since the temperature difference was much bigger that 10 degrees to begin with in the hot case, but not so different from 10 degrees in the cold case, the hot liquid will take less time to change its temperature by this amount than the cold liquid will, and the hot liquid will start to taste bad before the cold will.”
@kdemo Also ice takes a bunch of heat to melt because it’s a phase change (solid to liquid) and the cold liquid won’t start getting warmer until the ice is gone.
You know meh, if Contigo has some kind of sex tape of you doing unspeakable things, you can call the authorities. You don’t have to keep pushing these on us. There is a way out. And nobody has to see your nasty.
Noticed that the shots of the different color lid mechanisms appear to be actual different photos. Usually they appear to be photoshopped (or @kylethephotoguy is really like inhumanly good at positioning stuff).
Not sure which way feels better to my consumer eyeballs, tbh.
Does anyone have these? Does the top “open up” like the West Loop for easier cleaning? The Contigo West Loop 2.0 tops are so much easier to clean than my original Contigos which always got crud stuck in them over time.
@sammypedram hi fellow HEMer. I have purchased 2 of these the last time they were made available and they work like a pro. They don’t leak, sweat, stay cold overnight and hot for hours. I’m so glad to see them again because my parents love them and will be great for my dad since he just had back surgery yesterday afternoon. My Doc. fell in love with them to, she was a little shaken when I took a drink then turned it upside down on her desk. I bought 2 of the Stanley’s also but they sweat severely. The only complaint I have is I wish it was larger. Other than that I am very happy to have purchased them here at MEH. Hope I helped you in one way or another. Peace out!
I went ahead and took a hard look at my lifestyle and it looks fine to me. The 24 oz Bubbas I got a while ago are providing wholly satisfying amounts of coffee. (Well, especially when both of them are full of coffee, some for the morning and some for the afternoon.)
There is not enough room for ice cubes if you put a 12oz drink in there. I require at the very least 4oz of ice for my 12oz drink, so its a no-go for me…
I paid 14 for one of these on Amazon however i use my Big Bubbas i bought on meh… Meh "MORE GUMMY BEARS DUDES I GAVE ONE BAG AWAY AND ATE THESE BY THE HANDFUL …PLEASE CAN WE DO A DIFFERENT FLAVOR ON THE 2/18 DEAL? THANKS MEH "
It makes me sad to look back at my account history and realize I paid $18 the first time I saw them here. Insulation qualities are decent, but the vacuum apparatus is a bitch to keep clean and if you neglect to clean it properly or at all, you’ll never get rid of the mold smell/taste ):
I love the commentary on serial numbers. If you think your straining at 5 digits though, you ought to check out Versa valves. Those serial numbers are serious.
Bought these exact Contigo cups 3x on Meh. I love these. Don’t leak at all bouncing around in my backpack, easy to clean, look good at work. Gave some as presents, too. All good.
Maybe this is just user error, but all the Contigo double seal cups have started to smell completely disgusting due to liquid getting stuck in the locking mechanism. Even if I flip the cleaning latch open and scrub, I can’t get it to stop smelling horrible. I threw them all away.
The clear contigo water bottles with a single seal do not have this problem.
Sam’s Club 30oz are leak-proof enough for me for the same price range of $10 each. I don’t have the toss-in-the-backpack use case. I have just the cupholder use case.
If you want hot to stay hot longer, you can pre warm the cup by putting hot tap water in before using it. This lowers the temperature difference between the hot liquid and the mug and slows down the process described in the excellent if a bit TLDR Thermodynamics post.

Meh. Already have the Bubba ones.
@mdszy Bubbas are bigger (the Bubba vacuum bottles that Meh has previously sold have been 20 or 24 oz) and aren’t muddled up with the fancy autoseal lid. I want more Bubbas!
@lljk Yeah! I use them for work every day, best thing ever.
Somewhere to store my tears for the next four years.
@justbuyit Your Trump joke even rhymes tonight. This one is good too - this is four in a row IIRC - but I’m not counting or anything.
@justbuyit You can have my Jack Daniels barrel where I’ve been storing mine for the past 8 yrs. It’s empty now.
You have got to be kidding me. Mugs again? Seriously Meh.
Mugged tonight meh
are these the new speakerdocks???
Makes me want speaker docs for some reason…
When are you gonna stop selling this shitty inner thread containers and start selling the superior outer thread ones?
@DrunkCat what do you mean by outer vs inner thread?
@atherrien95 The threads for the lid on the top of the container. Outer thread is more like a cap. Inner thread is more like a plug.
@mike808 thanks
@DrunkCat Does Contigo make an outer thread container? If not, can you give an example of an outer thread brand/model container and why is that design superior? Thanks!
@robinjanski Not Contigo, Thermos.
https://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Insulated-Stainless-Hydration-Midnight/dp/B00WUF662O/
I bought a two pack of these from Costco ages ago and they are still my absolute favorite bottle. It is amazing enough to kill someone over.
Be a rebel and only ever use these at home. You can’t tell me where I should be using these, Contigo!
No purple, no sale.
I’ve been wondering - Can anyone explain the physics behind “keeps stuff hot for 5 hours or cold for 12”? Why can it keep stuff cold longer than hot?
@KDemo From the Interwebs via Google:
"A Thermos, as you probably already know, is just a special kind of container that insulates whatever liquid it is containing. TL:DR Thermodynamics.
@justbuyit
@justbuyit - Wow, much appreciation! I was guessing it had something to do with the ice in the cold drink, but not necessarily.
@kdemo Also ice takes a bunch of heat to melt because it’s a phase change (solid to liquid) and the cold liquid won’t start getting warmer until the ice is gone.
@sammydog01 - Makes sense too.
@KDemo Keeps hot stuff hot.
Keeps cold stuff cold.
How do it know?
Bubba or Bust.
Poor feeders. I don’t think hummingbirds have the thumb strength to press the button to open the seal.
Seriously? WTF. Sell something new already.
You know meh, if Contigo has some kind of sex tape of you doing unspeakable things, you can call the authorities. You don’t have to keep pushing these on us. There is a way out. And nobody has to see your nasty.
Is it Tuesday? WTF? meh…
These are great, but 14oz? nope.
$9 each? nope

@hotwheels53 Thank you! Went ahead and got some!
I require at the very least 4oz of ice for my 12oz drink, so its a no-go for me…
Ha, you assume we’d use these for coffee. That 128 oz Bubba is my wonder jug: a full day’s water supply in one insulated container and it’s BEAUTIFUL!
@DeepThots That giant Bubba is great for margaritas and other sundry party drinks. I wish they would sell them again. (@dave)
@MrsPavlov Paging @alacrity

@atravis6 I completely agree. My dad and I are completely grossed out and my mom cant smell it!!!

Been waiting for some more bubbas. I use them for water. 14oz isn’t enough.

Meh wasn’t passing judgement on my coffee drinking lifestyle when they sold me the 20 oz Contigo mugs a couple months ago…
I would buy this if I didn’t already own one. Still great after 2 years of heavy use.
I like this size, it fits in my Keurig perfectly.
Can you ship which color you have instead of the blue. Tjanks
Where are the mugs? They are no longer in my orders, but I paid for them.
@lashes
Did you get an email about if your order was cancelled?
And did you send an email to Meh support?
