The Bright Basics Motion Activated Dual Security Light is the perfect lighting addition to your Porch, Garage, Patio, or anywhere else around the house that can benefit from a little extra lighting
The Dual Lights are extra bright and will give out up to 300 lumens of light
The built-in motion sensor will automatically turn on the light as soon as it senses any motion nearby so you always feel safe when coming home late at night in the dark and it will automatically turn off in 30 seconds
The base can be installed easily with the included peel and stick mounting tape so anyone can do it, or there is also the possibility of handing it with the built-in slots in the back
The individual lights will rotate a full 360 degrees so you can adjust each one in its own direction to maximize your lighting coverage and to ensure you have extra lighting wherever you need it
@brubro@medz Each AA battery holds around 3.75 Wh (1.5V x 2.5Ah). A 4-pack will have ~15Wh of energy. A 300 lumen LED bulb uses ~4W giving just under 4 hours of runtime ideally.
On the package it should say batteries and a step ladder included because you’ll need one to change the batteries every 3 days or so especially in the long dark days of winter.
Depending on just how much of a PITA it is to change the batteries these might not be a bad option for that seldom-used closet you want to throw some light into… Especially if you use rechargeables.
I wonder what “color temperature” these are? (usually expressed as something like 3000K or 5000K). The 2nd picture today seems to show two very different “colors,” one a bluish-white and the other a much more yellowish incandescent-like light. Now there are some that are actually selectable, which would be cool. But I kind-of doubt that these do that. So that photo probably shows two different models but not sure which one we get. The spec page doesn’t seem to mention this.
Remember when we all thought a 3-D-cell incandescent MagLite was pretty bright? (Those of us over 40, anyway…) Those put out maybe 25 lumens on a good day with really fresh batteries. Now businesses give away 125-lumen flashlights as promotional favors…
@werehatrack I had those (a 3 and 4-cell I think, or maybe one was a 5-Cell). I’m pretty sure those were more than 25 lumen, at least with the Kryptonite* (pocket-full-of-) bulb. I know SuperMan hated it when I brought that near him.
But yeah it is pretty amazing how stuff has changed.

Can these be used as disco lights?
<For testing purposes only.>
@yakkoTDI only if you have shiny balls too.
@brubro / me checks balls
Guess they can be.
@yakkoTDI
Since they are motion-activated, to use as disco lights:

Battery powered? That’ll last a day or two.
@medz Yep…they’d be attractive if they said they’d last four months or so on batteries.
@medz only 300 lumen about a 25 watt bulb’s worth. Batteries will last a while.
@brubro @medz by they are “seriously bright”.

@medz Just solder in a 6 volt wall wart and you can run them off AC and never use battery’s again.
@brubro @medz @mwarren So almost 500 times it can turn on for the 30 second timer if using batteries?.
@brubro @medz @mwarren @Odorous That’s what my calculation showed: 480 X :30 activations. That’ll last about 16 days at our house…
I love lamp
@Num1Zero
One pack was listed on woot! About a month/two back for $13.99 or around. Not a great deal.
Extra bright at 300 lumens? That’s less than the typical 40 watt incandescent, otherwise known as a dim bulb.
On the package it should say batteries and a step ladder included because you’ll need one to change the batteries every 3 days or so especially in the long dark days of winter.
Crap. If they had solar panels and didn’t require replacing batteries they would be less craptastic.
With all the comments, buyers may get the impression 300 lumen is not bright. Whereas Mehers know these are cheap even before we see what’s for sale.
I’m getting a whole bunch of these to use as landing lights to help guide in UFOs.
You’d be surprised at how many crash in the dark.
@OnionSoup Good thing these will light up just in time to illuminate the crash scene.

AA, not AAA? Meh is slipping.
@blaineg was hoping for a big stack of LR44’s myself
@blaineg @pmarin
Not CR1620? Oh, wait, these probably weren’t made by the TrackR people.
@blaineg @werehatrack … buy 5 non-functional TrackR’s get 20 outdated CR1620s for free?
What a joke… years ago Meh sold flashlights that were brighter than these.
300 lumens is sad.
If you’re gonna sell a motion light that runs on batteries, it should at least be solar powered or take D batteries.
And two for $25? Maybe if they were 2 for $10 I’d put one in my shed.
@caffeineguy Yeah, would actually buy some at that price.
P.S. your username reminded me I need some coffee now!
Seriously bright? 300 lumens? Seriously not interested

They don’t work. What a waste of money.
