@communist THANKS!!
I bought the model linked awhile ago. When they came back up and i see people complaining about security and i disconnected mine. Now i can use my mediocre security cams!
I got these from morning save. They work fine for my low level security needs. The audio is clear the video recordings are clear. The support is fast and helpful…So I’m kinda meh on the other reviews…
I’m going to do no research. Is this the brand where you have to do the QR hack so you don’t have to use their video back up, or whatever that thing was?
@brhfl I basically only need it to bust my dog on her pooping in the kitchen and a general front door monitor to watch while at work. So $50 for two may be worth it regardless of the hack.
@vanslaterco I have the non-night vision version of these and have used them to catch which cat was peeing and to use while away. For the temp things like the cat it uploading to their servers wasn’t that bad. For the house monitor it was a little more annoying.
@effzilla So they do work pretty well? I’m getting a new room mate and I might be out of the state for a month or two. Buying a safe and picked these up as well.
Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap DVR that has BNC inputs and can be accessed from a regular web browser without needing some crappy client software?
@jeremyrandall um, a VHS recorder from a garage sale or craigslist? They’re quite the rage with collectors now. Especially the ones with the blinking 12:00 feature.
I know these are shitty cameras, but I’m too cheap and lazy to buy a real security system, so I did my part and bought 3 sets of these piles of shit. I bought the ones without night vision last week, and they’re completely useless at night, so I’ll consider these an upgrade.
Was browsing this “DealNews” site someone mentioned around here and saw them say this:
Note: Although Meh.com seems to pay an unhealthy amount of attention
to model numbers, this time they’ve provided an incorrect one. The
model number displayed on the product page (WRM-BA3-00) is actually
for a Stem Izon monitor in black.
If you see something mediocre, say something mediocre…
All of the product images for the last few days have been broken for me. So, I can’t be sure if you’re selling video monitors - based on the the name ‘Stem Izon View Wi-Fi Video Monitors’, or wifi cameras - based on the description ‘Two WiFi-enabled video cameras with night vision’.
I have 4 from previous meh listings. They work great for basic cheap home security but the 25 recordings a day thing is a total fail. I would gladly pay $20 a month for unlimited recordings of they would just make it an option. At a minimum it would be nice if they had an option for me to rent my own server space or use third party can software.
“Motion and noise detection start 5 seconds before the event, end 5 seconds after, and record up to 30 seconds”
… OK, so let me get this straight… There is some sort of time shift/time travel capability that allows this to detect motion and noise 5 seconds BEFORE they happen… That’s incredible (or maybe just incredibly bad copy writing…)
@chienfou Nope, this is not as magical as it may first seem. Basically, the past 5 seconds of video is constantly being held in memory, so that when motion is detected, the preceding 5 seconds are included in the recording. If all it did was start recording on motion, you might miss little things preceding the action.
@jawe Nope… this is NOT as it is described…THAT’s the point. “…so that when motion is detected…(quoted from your post)” motion detection does NOT occur 5 seconds BEFORE the event… saving the recording does (I got that right from the start…) It’s just still piss poor copy…
I have the non-night vision cameras. They work very well. Didn’t realize they weren’t night vision at the time. Sure would like to trade them in since I use them in my kid’s rooms
So if you apply the last fix( sorry was reading the thread on the non night vision cam that were sold here) to use your own server( not the Chinese server ) can you still use the phone app to view your house or whatever? Can someone please let me know before these go off sale? Sorry If this does not make much sense to most/all of you…
@bigtom67 No. If you do the QR code trick, it’s going to connect to your local network and fire up its own web server and RTSP (video) stream. But it’s still inside your network, and will stay there unless you start opening things up on your router’s firewall. Assuming you did that, you’d either need to know your IP address at all times, or set up dynamic DNS. These things bring serious security risks with them, and I wouldn’t recommend it to a: someone who didn’t already have a pretty good understanding of network security and b: someone who wanted to do it for the sake of this device, which given the company’s security track record, one must assume is a plausible attack vector. Even if you did all of that, you wouldn’t end up using their app, but finding something else to view the stream, etc.
Bought the pair, set them up, they worked for about an hour and then wouldn’t connect to my network. After multiple resets and multiple connect attempts on both iPhone and Android, they are still dead.
I contacted IZON support and, after some back-and-forth, I was told to provide some info and they would issue a RMA for me. That was 4 days ago. They have been out of contact since then. I’ve sent them messages telling them that I still haven’t received the RMA info, yet I still have no reply. So much for the 1-year warranty.
When they worked, they looked good. I had plans for them (like finding out how you can wake up to a fresh batch of cookies when no one in the house remembers baking them…) Now I just want my money back.
@SPRUNT
Hang in there. Their support is very helpful and on top of things. I had the same issue with one camera, but it turned out it was an internet issue. These have to be connected to a 2.4ghz wi-fi. They are NOT compatible with the new 5ghz thats surfacing. Just call your ISP and they should set you up with a 2.4ghz.
Trust me…don’t waste you’re time trying to connect them without making this correction with your ISP.
I love these cameras. I can watch and listen to my dogs and any sounds in my home when I’m away. Its sensitive to sound and motion, which is awesome cause I get an alert on my device immediately. Not to mention the cool night vision feature. My only regret is, not buying more on this site when they were available. Thanks Meh.com…another great purchase!
I’ve had three Izon cameras for close to a year and never really had an issue with them. When they were knocked offline because of wifi or power issues, always managed to set them back up and running. I ordered two of the Izon View w/night vision and as the prior commenter mentioned, they worked for two days and stopped after that. I cant connect them using the QR code or broadcast the stem network to set up manually. I contacted Istem Innovations. Within a few email back and forth and a weeks time, I got replacements, which have the same issue. Don’t waste your money on these night vision cameras. I’m contacting Meh.com to see about a refund.
heres some instructions on getting the video stream so you dont have to deal with stems app
https://meh.com/forum/topics/stem-izon-2-0-wi-fi-video-monitor#570f929d21a0f48406076eb6
thats for stems other camera, but according to hackers, the other camera work the same way
@communist THANKS!!
I bought the model linked awhile ago. When they came back up and i see people complaining about security and i disconnected mine. Now i can use my mediocre security cams!
Ok. you had this deal just because I needed a Sugar Glider Cam, right?
@mfladd Video not shown: Shaking Sugar Glider “pellets” from brassiere.
@mfladd I kid, I kid…I know they are some of the cleaner animals out there
@mfladd Who do you think those folks in trenchcoats selling tiny mammals were? Mediocre agents!
Video: QVGA 10 frames per second
You’d be glad to be able to see overall shape of things. That’s 320x240 pixels
@r0xor heres some footage of the izon view
If you see something meh in the dark, in stereo, is it still mediocre?
/giphy no thanks
Wi-Fi steam iron? I don’t get it.
I got these from morning save. They work fine for my low level security needs. The audio is clear the video recordings are clear. The support is fast and helpful…So I’m kinda meh on the other reviews…
/giphy very disappointed
I’m going to do no research. Is this the brand where you have to do the QR hack so you don’t have to use their video back up, or whatever that thing was?
@vanslaterco It is that brand; whether that holds true for this specific camera as well… well, I’m also going to do no research.
@brhfl I basically only need it to bust my dog on her pooping in the kitchen and a general front door monitor to watch while at work. So $50 for two may be worth it regardless of the hack.
@vanslaterco I’m no detective but if there is dog poop appearing in your house you probably don’t need a camera to prove that the dog is doing it.
@vanslaterco it’s more of WHEN she’s poopin’, not WHO’S poopin’.
@vanslaterco I have the non-night vision version of these and have used them to catch which cat was peeing and to use while away. For the temp things like the cat it uploading to their servers wasn’t that bad. For the house monitor it was a little more annoying.
Do these work in restrooms?
@Jerrold I CUP
I got this in the valentine fuku. It was very helpful as I had a teenage nephew move into my apartment. He now gets home reliably on time.
@effzilla So they do work pretty well? I’m getting a new room mate and I might be out of the state for a month or two. Buying a safe and picked these up as well.
Don’t use them for anything sensitive. Wide open security.

Monitoring this deal tonight
Meh x 2 = still f’ing Meh
I did not want these last time, why are you trying to sell them to me again?
Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap DVR that has BNC inputs and can be accessed from a regular web browser without needing some crappy client software?
@jeremyrandall um, a VHS recorder from a garage sale or craigslist? They’re quite the rage with collectors now. Especially the ones with the blinking 12:00 feature.
@jeremyrandall define cheap? as in less than $100 or less than $500
@communist Under $100 would be awesome; under $200 for sure.
@mike808 I recently found a box of BetaMax tapes on my street. BETAMAX!!!
I know these are shitty cameras, but I’m too cheap and lazy to buy a real security system, so I did my part and bought 3 sets of these piles of shit. I bought the ones without night vision last week, and they’re completely useless at night, so I’ll consider these an upgrade.
What part of meh did you not understand the last bajillion times these have been up?
I can’t even say “at least it’s not speaker dock.”
I know I might have jinxed it. Brace yourself, speaker dock is coming.
No comment on the incorrect model number?

No more real garbage!
Oh… come onnnnnn meh!!! Bad product, horrible reviews. Where’s the good stuff?!
@lisameh clearly you are new here.
Stem Izon?? Ummm…is this kind of a steam iron? Will it take wrinkles out of my pictures?
If you see something mediocre, say something mediocre…

Does the smartphone app allow for remote viewing from outside of your home wi-fi network?
At the very least the price is right. I can always give them as Christmas gifts.
@savellano I was checking on the house from a hotel room 300 miles away using the app.
Seems decent enough to use as a baby camera. Cheaper than what’s out there.
I have the non-night vision cameras. They work very well. Didn’t realize they weren’t night vision at the time. Sure would like to trade them in since I use them in my kid’s rooms
People get a Piper.
Yes they cost from $150 to $280 each but…
They are amazing and NO fees…yet!
My Logi Circles are better but the cost me $160 each
I just checked, amazon sells them for 69.00 for the set of two.
So if you apply the last fix( sorry was reading the thread on the non night vision cam that were sold here) to use your own server( not the Chinese server ) can you still use the phone app to view your house or whatever? @SPRUNT One camera failed the first day, the other the next day. Tech support was very fast and helpful, and promptly offered to replace both cameras.
Two new cameras arrived via FedEx yesterday.

You’re HIDDEN recurring charges are bullshit
@jdkiely you have piqued my interest!!!
