@phatmass they are ok... they are great for casual monitoring on the same LAN, they are decent for "motion" or "sound" events... I like them but they are not going to replace a dedicated security camera system.
@phatmass They're just okay. The picture quality is meh, colors are washed out. They disconnect frequently (but that could just be our wifi), and the app is crap. But, it's a cheap way to watch the animals while we're out.
@phatmass this is a waste of money! Completely useless. Does not detect wifi easily. Picture quality in low light condition is extremely bad. I bought this crap, and now meh will not take it back, because of their 'return policy'. If you really interested, I'm willing to dump it(One unopened package, the other just opened and tried out. All back neatly in the package). DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE!
Please stop calling these "video monitors." They are cameras. They may allow you to engage in the action of monitoring the activity in an area via video, but they are not "video monitors." They are cameras. In fact, you have to have some kind of separate video monitor to view the video from these cameras.
This never exactly works out for me. (I'm the guy that has the thief). I have an android tablet this might work with. So, when motion activated, where is it recorded at? the cloud or on my tablet? thanks ahead of time.
@wew the cloud... and there is no way to save it off using the built in app. I have 4 (2 of the 2.0 and 2 of these view ones) they are decent for live monitoring and they are decent for casual motion detection etc... but if you are looking for a real security solution WIRED is the only way to cam. :)
@hchavers basically these are little linux cams running the motion/sound detection on the unit... so what they are saying is that when a "motion" or "sound" event triggers, it will upload 5 seconds before the event, the event, and a couple seconds afterwards.
Vas ist QVGA? What resolution are the images? Does camera record 1-way sound or have a speaker for 2-way sound? How's the night vision? Decent wifi range? I have some new critters I'd love to be spying on from work... (5 newly-adopted feral cats in a kitty condo in the barn.)
@DaveKnowsAll Not to nitpick, but 15 years ago, flip phones were rare and camera phones non-existent. If you weren't sporting your Nokia 51xx/61xx with custom faceplate for every day of the week, then you were a neanderthal lugging around a Qualcomm/Kyocera brickphone.
@ciabelle Not to nitpick but 15 years ago the Samsung SCH-V200 had a camera. Yes it was only 0.35-megapixels and had to be connected to a computer to view them but there was still a camera. In 2002 the Sanyo SCP-5300 was released in a clamshell design and took 640x480 images with a real flash (not an led).
@2palms No 2-way sound. Wifi range is kind of crappy, but if your phone has a signal by the barn, these may also. Night vision and sound are okay, motion detection is decent, though. It'll be okay for animal-watching (that's all I use these for).
This is one of those things where I have hard criteria.
Must record locally to a destination I specify
Must be good enough to read faces/license plates (i.e. much be better-than-QVGA, preferably at least 720p)
Must not punch a hole through my firewall to tunnel home and thus expose itself to Internet nastiness (yeah I can just make a rule but I don't want to have to stay vigilant about a freakin' camera...)
Although I actually have an Evil Plan to use a couple of those little CX-10C's as dashcams in my car, they're plenty good enough for that, and cheap, and they provide hours of fun when I'm not driving!
These seem pretty advanced considering they know the future... "Motion and noise detection start 5 seconds before the event, end 5 seconds after, and record up to 30 seconds"
I would love to buy this but I don't know if it will be suitable to use to monitor my car since I park on the street. Funny/sad story: I parked my Bug in close proximity of my home, at least 5 feet away from the fire hydrant, the next morning some jackass physically moved my car in front of the fire hydrant. Thankfully I wasn't issued a ticket but I hoped that a%%hole suffered a bulging disc for that effort.

Can you record onto a system on the local network, or do they require the subscription? (If can do local, do the use samba, ftp, or how does it store) I've got 23+ TB of local disk available and would rather not have to pay to store images

Who bought these last time? They good?
@phatmass they are ok... they are great for casual monitoring on the same LAN, they are decent for "motion" or "sound" events... I like them but they are not going to replace a dedicated security camera system.
@thismyusername They're no dropcam...seriously
@phatmass Here is pretty good unbiased review we found on them.
@phatmass They're just okay. The picture quality is meh, colors are washed out. They disconnect frequently (but that could just be our wifi), and the app is crap. But, it's a cheap way to watch the animals while we're out.

picture this deal - you can monitor it all night too
@AttyVette Eye just don't see it.
These don't even have meh reviews. Straight up piss poor. Wouldn't even make a baby arm picture to try and sell this.
But is it a quad copter???
@lichme You're working a good run of image puns here.
booo, put these on ebay with BIN and replace with something less terrible more mediocre
Wish these were the Foscam Cameras from back in April. These are poop and the Foscam ones are slightly better poop.
@Tin_Foil my Foscam is a champ. Why the hate?
@okaytodd No hate, I want to buy two more!
@Tin_Foil take my foscam please
Full on Meh
izon backwards is nozi....
Nope!
teen spy cam?
@Kidsandliz That's illegal in most countries.
@minktheshrink What? To spy on your own teen to see if they are sneaking out? I doubt that is illegal.

@grazapin so they are picture monitors???
@grazapin I apologize on behalf of everyone (even the video monitors).

@thismyusername good timing! It give me something to think about and I'll get up tomorrow and see if they're still here. thanks for the help. gnite!
"Motion and noise detection start 5 seconds before the event."
Is it odd that they know the event starts in 5 seconds? What if the motion and noise start 10 seconds before the event, or 1 second?
@hchavers basically these are little linux cams running the motion/sound detection on the unit... so what they are saying is that when a "motion" or "sound" event triggers, it will upload 5 seconds before the event, the event, and a couple seconds afterwards.

@2palms 320 X 240. Otherwise known as the crappy video you could get on of your flip phone 15 years ago.

Is this a Dropcam?
No it's a parts kit for a do it yourself BB8 sphero conversion.
@PocketBrain nope, but this is
@rileyper that pic makes my spine hurt.
@RedOak Looks like it just might be the filter over the lens that is broken.
@MrMark aha. And that would be one of the purposes of filters - self sacrifice. ;-)
Meh. Bummer: Only recommended for use indoors, says humidity & moisture can cause condensation on the lens.
Bigger Bummer: Only compatible with 2.4Ghz wireless - no 5Ghz or AC. Biggest Bummer: No Windows compatibility - only works with Android and Apple.

@davebsd nope.

QVGA??? No thanks!

Does anyone know if these can be used as regular generic wifi IP cams for monitoring with other software solutions, for example, Blue Iris?
I bought these the last time they were on meh. Great cameras for price. Good quality and no issues on my android or iphone.
Not pervy enough to buy one.
Can anyone who has one of these confirm if it has MJPEG support?
Can you record onto a system on the local network, or do they require the subscription? (If can do local, do the use samba, ftp, or how does it store) I've got 23+ TB of local disk available and would rather not have to pay to store images
@CyberCowboy No. Cloud only.
QVGA!!!!??!?!?!?!? What is this? A camera for watching legos?
