@cybermonk Yeah I probably could have talked my wife into these as we need another “baby monitor” for our new baby to be but no night vision = no deal. I say “baby monitor” because the one we have now is really a doorbell cam haha
Every time these show up I ask myself why I didn’t buy the last five times. Thank goodness we check the reviews and meh should be upfront there is No night vision. Pretty standard nowadays.
Gotta know which kid to yell “get off my lawn” at!
Bought these on a previous Meh, they are USELESS! The idiot manufacturer does not allow you to capture video except through their own server, and you are limited to 25 clips per day. As the cameras capture video based on movement, you will use up those 25 clips before noon, even in a low traffic area. So if your burgler shows up after 11am, tough luck.
@dadzilla Good to know. What about just live viewing? You don’t have to capture all the time do you? I was pretty close to buying but now these sound like total turds to me.
@dadzilla They stream in rtsp which is a proprietary RelPlayer format, a pain to use in Linux (although possible to an extent). I want something like this but this is just another example of an arrogant manufacturer milking their customers with a mediocre product.
I bought them a while back, and I set one up in my garage pointing at my parking spot. I used to get a mile or so from my house and wonder if I closed the garage door, and I’d end up driving all the way back (the answer was always yes.) Now I just pull up the app on my phone and boom! my garage explodes! Nah, but right away I can see that the door is closed and I can relax. I also pull the camera up sometimes when I’m vacation just so that I know the house hasn’t burnt down or hoodlums haven’t turned my garage into their secret clubhouse. I’ve been thinking about trying to mount the other one somewhere on the front of my house looking at the driveway so I know when the pizza guy arrives. They aren’t meant to be outdoor cameras but they run a little warm so I think if I put it in a plastic box it might produce enough heat to keep it in the temp range.
@blaineg First you need a place that makes them. However, at Christmas they do have frozen Lutefisk TV dinners! This place is like Lake Wobegon, but without the lake.
Have 2, getting 2 more. Going to put one in the garage as Beardo did to make sure the door is closed/open. Not sure where the other one is going. I’ve corresponded with the Izon folks and they are very cool. These aren’t movie cameras, resolution isn’t high at all but they do the job I need them for.
Not what I expected. It does what it says, but nothing else. The app is bare bones and it’s feature set is nonexistent. Example: There is no way to set a time for it to record. It doesn’t know when you are home. So when you get home from work and are diving into a PB&J. It’s going to tell you. If you get up in the middle of the night and run downstairs in your underwear, it’s going to tell you. I contacted iZON and asked them to consider this as a feature set in the future. Also, you can view your home, but you cant communicate with your home. Adding two way communication like Presence does would be great.
I’ve bought 8 Izon cams to date, four from this sale. The other four were from previous sales and are refurbished. All the refurbished camera’s still work. 3 of 4 of these have failed. Izon, in their wisdom, requires that the camera work in order to add or remove cameras from an account. So now I got 3 panes in the software for non-existant cameras that can’t be removed from the account.
Izon shut down on September 30, 2018. My cameras may work but I no longer have access to a server that carries the signal. Now they are just worthless junk.

Meh monitor – I can see a sale–just not for me–guess meh is having a blast on the Fourth of July…don’t JULY To me…
Need something new!
@mcemanuel
/giphy something new
/giphy something completely different
@jml326 that’s more like it
Double meh
Meh, but to think years back this technology was so expensive it’s cool to see them so cheap.
So what you are saying is that these have replaced the JBL speaker docs?
These don’t have the night vision, the ones I’ve been holding out for. Double meh from the darkest corners of my home.
@cybermonk Yeah I probably could have talked my wife into these as we need another “baby monitor” for our new baby to be but no night vision = no deal. I say “baby monitor” because the one we have now is really a doorbell cam haha
@cybermonk Does this help?

@blaineg in this instance no.
Sell me a dvr 4 or 8 camera out door system and we’ll talk
@jml326 nvr. analog systems are dead, bruh
@meh all the more reason to sell them.
Every time these show up I ask myself why I didn’t buy the last five times. Thank goodness we check the reviews and meh should be upfront there is No night vision. Pretty standard nowadays.
Gotta know which kid to yell “get off my lawn” at!
@craigcush they sell the night visions ones too from time to time… they are called “izon view” but these 2.0 do not have it for sure…
@craigcush Looks like this is the 7th time they’ve been up for sale, and 3 of the 7 have been the night vision model.
Please bring back the JBL Mini Speaker Docks. You didn’t have the “final sale” of those. I will buy one. If the VMP cycle is in alignment.

@dadzilla @stormchaser read the writeup, there is a link to instructions for configuring them for local use.

Does anyone know why I bought these? I think I was having a stroke or something.
@warpedrotors I think you were having a stroke or something.
@warpedrotors And now you can capture it on remote video to show you had a stroke or something.
@warpedrotors And email it to the paramedics, so they can be notified to come get you automatically.
2 cameras to record in stereo

@beardo What’s a “pizza guy?” We have no food delivery of any ind in rural MN. I even have to haul my own trash to the dump, er, “recycling center.”
@radi0j0hn I’ll bet if you paid enough you could get delivery…
@blaineg First you need a place that makes them. However, at Christmas they do have frozen Lutefisk TV dinners! This place is like Lake Wobegon, but without the lake.

I forgot to use the /buy command, so here is my purchase:

(BTW- the link to the post from @ChrisArgyle is what convinced me to buy… my thanks/ire to @ChrisArgyle and whomever added that info to the write-up.)
And since people seem to be missing it in the writeup, here’s the link to to @ChrisArgyle 's post again:

How long do you suppose it would run attached to a 20,000 mAh micro-usb power brick?
‘And he’s not content to play in Stem Izon’s sandbox.’ lmao. reference: http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/34bf30ff-1af8-4597-af27-6880ca32b9cc/shrdlus-sandbox#7c467a1b-8922-47ee-b571-9a90342115d9

Wow, New Hampshire loved these! LIVE FREE OR DIE! Unless your neighbor bought one, in which case… Equally-Sized Brother is watching.

So, not really excited about my rad purchase.

Picture quality is awful, like Gameboy-quality awful. Worth about what I paid, and they were very cheap.
Can’t get a response from the Izon, neither camera works!!!
Izon shut down on September 30, 2018. My cameras may work but I no longer have access to a server that carries the signal. Now they are just worthless junk.
@TrailBoss They may be junk, but they are far from useless. https://willithack.com/izon/
