I got these at Morningsave, 2 for 19, but I got 10% off with my VMP and free shipping. My 13 year old likes it, it syncs with his android phone too. I give it a moderate meh.
@narfcake I agree. If your primary use is calls, texting, Internet, email, and mainstream apps, show me a smart phone that is a smarter (cheap) buy!
For a new smartphone user (a few still exist!) it is a very easy phone OS to use.
The going price for the Lumia (Nokia/Microsoft) 640 is $30, no contract. At that price, a no-worries smartphone. Great for kids too (fewer games to distract from...). I picked up a backup for our son for $24 at Meijer about 10 days ago.
It isn't a screaming fast performer, but 5 inch IPS display (294ppi), 8MP camera, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Gorilla Glass, Quadcore CPU, removable battery... and a handy one: free, already installed Microsoft Office.
In sixty years local news will close with the human interest story "Let's go now to Biff Logan who's on the trail of a sassy senior has tracked every step in his/her adult life". It's devices like this that make this dismal future a certainty.
@cercopithecoid I understand where you're coming from, but I upgraded (yeah, I said it) from the Apple Watch to the FitBit Blaze, as text/call notifications are needed on my wrist to weed out people that I wish not to speak to (the future generation) ... The steps are an added bonus to compare with people that call me a friend, as it makes me want to get off of my fat ass and at least walk to the kitchen to get more food.
I got these last time. Made me realize I wanted a nice tracker and I got one. These are not that. Took a long time to set up, needed charging way too often and often didn't update app.
@kfetty ^^ This is why I bought these. I had just picked up a Fitbit Surge for my nephew's graduation present and was wondering if I'd like one too ... or if I'd get bored with it and give it away. This is a cheap way to see if I'd actually use one.
I have this. I wear it most days. It doesn't register yoga or exercycle workouts, it doesn't go in the pool. It does count all the miles spent stomping around searching for hardware stuff and groceries. Pairs easily, keeps a charge a long time. Irritates the shit out of Fitbit snobs when you tell them what you paid, which motivates me to wear it.
@mfladd I'm still walking around free, so no. Mental calisthenics don't count. @jaremelz When I go during the weekdays, nobody looks like that. Thanks for the image, though.
I'm going to wear one on each wrist and have my right side compete against my left side. Whichever one is the most fit by the end of the month gets a week off.
For me, it was cheaper. My work gave out free fitbits last October for a "Walktober" event. Gah, I feel dirty just typing that. Anyway, we all wore them for a month and most still do. I didn't see the point, so I sold mine to a new hire. I guess that means I was paid to try it out. Awesome, that's better than free. I wish more things were like that.
@simplersimon there must have been a corporate/fitbit deal or a tax break since my work did the same. They made it apart of our "Biggest Loser" contest.
@one_two3456 I'm not sure if it's a fitbit corporate deal or simply a realization that 'healthier' (that is, fitbit-equipped) employees cost less to insure. Our company gave out free pedometers a few years back, with the understanding that rebates to health insurance premiums would be earned based on activity levels. Essentially, higher-activity employees paid less for health insurance.
These are just the best!!! My wife and I just love them!!! They look stylish and got here very quickly in great condition... I think I will stock up and get even more!!! I also got VMP because it is such a great value!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of the bad reviews (and why Meh has them) are due to them not syncing readily. I found the secret: Have Bluetooth off. Open tracking app. Turn on Bluetooth. Tell app to sync. Boom. Data synced. If you somehow need to have your info updated to your phone every second, you may be disappointed, but these work very solidly.
@RobinBobcat I had an issue I had trying to sync both of my mini Jawbone speakers. This is the exact order I have to use to make them sync and even then, they get a bit ornery .
Got these from Meh back in December. I'm actually wearing mine right now. But I don't know why I continue to wear it. The sleep tracking is useless, as you have to manually (using your phone) put it into sleep mode and take it out. And it only tracks the amount of time in between. Which means that I've slept for nearly a day when I forgot to turn the sleep mode off in the morning. It's pretty terrible at tracking walking, too, as I seem to walk an awful lot while I'm actually driving. The app has a way to connect to friends to compare activity, but I've never been able to connect with any one. An email to their support told me that they would be updating to fix that bug within a couple of weeks. That was in January. Still no update. It does have pretty good battery life, but since it really doesn't track activity or sleep very well, that really is irrelevant.
Though I guess if you wanted a cheap activity tracker for your kids so they could be like mom or dad, it's a great deal.
SNAP!!!! Nice name for a fitness tracker. I have a Fitbit and while it does track most things, it seems to have trouble recording my sleep and how many times I climb up and down stairs. I have complained to the company and they have replaced the Fitbit with a new one twice. As far as SNAP and Fitbit products go, when they improve and are able to accurately record everything, then I might get one again. Sorry SNAP, thats my story and I am sticking to it......
Why would I ever need two of these? Meh AF. I'd have bought if it were just one, but if it's two, screw it. Sure, I could give one to my brother, but what if I don't enjoy it? Then I have no one to give the other one to.
Why would u ever need 1? When u exersise, do u need a phone to tell u u are exercising? When u r walking, phone? When u r sleeping, phone? Sex, phone? Going to the bathroom, phone? Where does it end?!!!
I have one of these, and I think it's cool. And I like the app. And I received it as a gift, so it was free, but the price is good.
My two complaints: - I'm quite sure they're a little sensitive and tend to overcredit me for activity. Or rather, they credit me for hand movement and not for steps per se. I guess I'm doing aerobics when I type vigorously, or reach for stuff or whatever, even though I'm just sitting on my ass. Like, this message is worth 100 steps. And I routinely get 10,000 steps in a day when I'm really not walking that much. Still, it shows that I'm not in a coma. - It would be cool if there were ways to download the data or see more granular breakdowns of specific times of day.
Where these puppies excel, I think, is tracking sleep. Not only does my Snap do a great job of showing me how restless I was and when I got up out of bed (these show as red spikes), the graphing on sleep actually is detailed, showing the time of day and changes across my period of rest. Like so.
@joelmw Well, damn. I haven't used the sleep tracker because I thought it only recorded when I turned it on and off, no details. Now I have to play with it some more, and maybe RTFM. Thanks for the illustration.
@joelmw Thanks for that. I hadn't seen the "Day" and "Week" setting for sleep tracking. I think I'll give this thing some more trials for tracking my (horrible) sleep habits. I work a combination of afternoon and overnight shifts, with an occasional day shift thrown in, so my sleeping happens at weird times depending on my schedule for the day.
I just want an activity tracker that will track bike riding, so that I can still show off to my friends and family how superior I am despite walking very little.
@rhrgrt I don't want to sound like a shill for Misfit, but their trackers convert other activities to steps, including cycling. The Misfit Flash runs about $20 (Sometimes $15) and is waterproof too.
Horrible. Have owned ours since Christmas and mine quit working and just gave up trying to reset it and many times it would not record sleeping at night. Tossed in trash and never again.
Got these a while back off meh to track my sleeping habits. Turns out the sync doesn't work more than 2 feet away from your phone, so if you roll over at night you're SOL. Uncomfortable to wear and when you check your phone in the morning you'll find that their crappy proprietary app didn't record anything.
Pros - Cool blue LED bar of the FUTURE
Cons - Doesn't stay synced - Doesn't reliably track sleep - Uncomfortable - Shiny, ugly plastic wristband - Can only be used with proprietary app (does not function with other tracker apps, I tried)
@giggers Um, I'm pretty sure that's not even the way it works. The device is tracking regardless of whether it's connected to your phone. It syncs up periodically. Part of the point of having a separate tracker is so you can leave your phone behind.
If I wanted a fitness tracker, I'd waste my money on one with good reviews, so I could get the full dose of guilt when I failed to be appropriately motivated. I'm only commenting now because I've just realised that I am paying $5/month to chuckle at your witty product descriptions and amusing obsession with product codes. Whatever.
My Snap3 finally got too buggy and hard to sync (hint: reset button is recessed on the back; use paper clip), so I gave up and bought myself a Fitbit Flex. Super easy to use, good support, and lots of pretty bracelet overlays, both commercial and Etsy. However, because I had no confidence in my commitment to wearing a tracker, I'm glad I tried this first for a few months. It's sort of a doorway gadget, and I've moved on.

Oh snap!
Wow, amazon reviews are not happy with this one.
@chacham Pans.
@JT954 pancake
@one_two3456 spread the syrup with the knife first.
well these certainly aren't tracking the activity of me whipping out my wallet and buying them
I got these at Morningsave, 2 for 19, but I got 10% off with my VMP and free shipping. My 13 year old likes it, it syncs with his android phone too. I give it a moderate meh.
Two snaps down with a twist.... double meh.
Giving a big meh on this one. Bad Amazon reviews
Snap to it !!
are these stored in the warehouse next to the speakerdocks.
Dammit, @medz! Not Windows (phone) compatible!
@narfcake People use those? ;)
@mfladd Yes.
It's a bit ironic that in the past, the question would be "is this Mac compatible?"
@narfcake really? I just don't know anyone who does. Seriously. Forgive the ironic question.
@mfladd Seriously. My daily phone is a Lumia 640. And it's in a purple case ... because purple.
@narfcake @mfladd
I recently found someone who uses a Windows phone.
I was flabbergasted for various reasons.
@narfcake I was on a call and my phone hung up on the call and started upgrading to windows 10!!!
@thismyusername @narfcake
That's ridiculous.
@FroodyFrog especially because you have to install the insider build app just to get Windows 10 on mobile.
@narfcake I agree. If your primary use is calls, texting, Internet, email, and mainstream apps, show me a smart phone that is a smarter (cheap) buy!

I got 2 of these from way back and there both a POS!!!
*they're
@justinjones41
OR maybe they meant "I got 2 of these from way back and there, both a POS. " or "I got 2 of these from way back and there -- both a POS. "
I mean these were way back and there in the warehouse, eh?
OR maybe a typo doesn't really matter. I make lotss of them myself ;-)
@IBMgrunt agreed
Can you stop selling these and just ship them out in fuku s
@riceatusc problem is you will get 200 of these in the next fuku. Living up to the name. ( accent both syllables )
@Bkmack then id hit up the fleamarket and sell them at $5 a pop
Got these when they were on Meh before Christmas...
Nothing but sync problems, and wildly inaccurate step counts.
Needs Crackle and Pop.
@JT954 Cerealously
Go ahead, try to fasten it!

@OldCatLady Does it count the number of times you undress young men at the pool, or the gym?
:)
@mfladd Nope. Doesn't count knee squats between the rigs at the rest area either. :-(
@mfladd That's ok, I found a pool boy for @OldCatLady anyway.
He's even got sprinkles.
@mike808
@mfladd I have such a dirty mind.
@LaVikinga but that's what I love about you!
@mfladd Oh, the trouble I find myself getting into. Funny thing is, I don't think I look like a bad influence...
@mfladd I'm still walking around free, so no. Mental calisthenics don't count. @jaremelz When I go during the weekdays, nobody looks like that. Thanks for the image, though.
@LaVikinga Viking Princess...you are the embodiment of Freyja. In the best way.
Does it also work as a language interpreter? I'd buy THAT for a dollar, otherwise.. Ho-Hum (that's another word for meh in mediocrenese)..
@unkabob
You mean Mehnglish?
@warpedrotors No, Mehrican.
I'm going to wear one on each wrist and have my right side compete against my left side. Whichever one is the most fit by the end of the month gets a week off.
@warpedrotors Wouldn't it be the other one that wins the weak-off?
@mike808 Clever girl
Let's just bring back slap bracelets instead, you guys.
@gyozilla with mood rings.
silly-like-zebra
after reading the reviews, now I wonder. But my dad needed a new pedometer, so I hope it will work for that.
@ceagee Oooh! A stripey-goat!
@ceagee See, children? This is why brushing twice a day is important.
Obviously meh.com website operating status is not among the activities these can track.
For me, it was cheaper. My work gave out free fitbits last October for a "Walktober" event. Gah, I feel dirty just typing that. Anyway, we all wore them for a month and most still do. @cshillaber
I waited 114 minutes for that?
It was worth it.
Although next time could you try taking a bit longer?
@FroodyFrog I think it needs more exclamation marks.
@thismyusername @cshillaber
Definitely. 240 isn't enough.
@FroodyFrog Meh had punctuation on sale a few weeks back. Some folks stocked up.
@cshillaber The omission of your occupation makes this review slightly dubious.
@cshillaber I like that your name has shill right there in it.
@warpedrotors Nice catch!
@RobinBobcat @FroodyFrog @thismyusername @cshillaber Exclamation marks: cowbell for text messages.
@cshillaber sorry. no deal. was waiting for an emoji heart to drive it home.
A lot of the bad reviews (and why Meh has them) are due to them not syncing readily. I found the secret:

@OldCatLady I think it's definitely worth checking out. FWIW, I haven't read much of the instructions.
BTW, I was a little ambiguous: the light purple are restless; the red spikes are beyond just moving around.
@joelmw Thanks for that. I hadn't seen the "Day" and "Week" setting for sleep tracking. I think I'll give this thing some more trials for tracking my (horrible) sleep habits. @sammydog01
trying to be helpful.
@mfladd That's it! Thanks.
How freaking hard is it to put a clock on there! I really don't want to wear something on my wrist that doesn't show the time when I look at it. Duh.
@n8mack33 That was my problem- if I'm going to use my wristwatch space I need the time.
Horrible. Have owned ours since Christmas and mine quit working and just gave up trying to reset it and many times it would not record sleeping at night. Tossed in trash and never again.
Really awful, do not buy.

@strongeagle hopefully it didn't take too many of those $5 cycles for you to realize what is Meh.com.
I'm looking for an unfitness tracker. People say I'm unfit for human companionship....
