I cannot believe this thing ever made it to market. The one bulb per phone thing is like trying to sell a car with a carburetor in 2017.
Not saying it doesn’t work as advertised. Not saying a handful of people won’t like it. Just saying, cannot believe they ever raised funding to actually produce the bulbs.
Chia pets and sham-wows have proven you can sell anything. McDonald’s has proven you can produce shit and stay profitable forever. But investors there had an idea of what it would cost to make a couple or three dollars.
@MehnofLaMehncha People with a lot of money do stupid shit with there money that they think is brilliant …That’s where Meh swoops in buys several thousand then pans it off in a two-fer and sells it to us at a small profit after shipping, great concept , hope those rich dudes with the millions keep making crazy shit i’ll buy all day long @ a sharp discount …Its a Meh. world i’m just a humble visitor lol… Like the Gummy Bears don’t need them but cant pass on deep discounts because i give them away…Ps clever user name bravo
@ILikeMeh Sengled does. I think they only made them in recessed bulbs though. You paired to the master bulb, and the master sent the signal to the slaves so you could essentially have your entire house playing the same music.
@MehnofLaMehncha I thought the exact same thing and I simply couldn’t fathom some idiot thought this would be a good idea. Then one day I decided to buy one and thought it may be helpful on my tool bench/garage because the darn speaker dock I bought here on Meh (JBL OnBeat Micro) was such a darn pain to actually sit my phone into since I was constantly reaching for it, and putting on and off the dock sucked. I have always considered a bluetooth speaker but I didn’t want to have a dedicated cord to charge it, forget to have it charged, and all of that. That’s where this came to be the perfect product. I put it into a spare light socket and now its there all the time ready for me to use whenever I need it. No sticking phone on a speaker dock, no remembering to recharge or need a dedicated cord and plug, etc. THIS IS AN AWESOME PRODUCT when you use it the way I described. I use the one in my garage a few times a week, and the one in my basement every few weeks and they have exceeded my expectations. The app and playing with the colors and all is a gimmick, maybe good for kids but not practical in any way.
@cllyde Agreed completely, NOT a good light at all but the speaker is good. I put a splitter so I now use this, and a regular bulb in 1 socket in my garage. It looks funky but out there looks don’t matter.
Hoping these don’t blow the circuits like the other Bluetooth LED lights I’d snagged that I’ve now pawned off on unsuspecting family/friends as holiday gifts.
@saintsfan504 when the app said I lost Bluetooth connection, I checked and the light did stay in the color I had left it in… But when I got back in range, the audio wouldn’t play, so I had to reconnect for that to work.
@mellowirishgent Oh, I’m pretty sure they work great for certain occasions, but the heavy dependence on a phone and no Alexa integration kills it for me.
I got these on the last sale. They’re too cool! I got four - one for myself, and one for each of my children. I gave it to them for Christmas. They loved the light/speaker. Great deal!
I bought this wanting to use it as a lightning simulator, playing a storm track. Unfortunately it only reacts to music flashing in random colors instead of whatever I pick. I don’t know if the IOS app gives you that option, but the android app does not.
It’s also annoying that it reverts back to white if I disconnect or turn off the bulb. I was hoping to use two different ones for some photos… Which means I’ll have to use my tablet to connect to the second one since I can’t use my phone for both.
It’s also really slow to turn on (which they show in their testing video) but it’s much slower than my other leds which is slightly distracting since I have three bulbs in a ceiling fixture in my bathroom.
The sound is… Just ok. Nothing to write home about. Fine for kids or people that aren’t that picky.
I made a hanging cloud that I wanted to stick this in to make it look like a storm cloud. My first issue is finding a thunder track that doesn’t have rain, and then the second issue is that I only want it to flash white. Maybe if I find another knock off app I can get one that only flashes white. It’s kinda on a back burner, I’ll hopefully figure it out eventually.
I got these last time around. Use 1 as a speaker with my computer but I have to go through the dance of connecting with my phone to turn off the light.
What? I just bought these from MorningSave last week for $22! Please tell me Mediocre can return the difference, or I may be forced to return those and buy these.
@DVDBZN at least you didn’t buy them direct from Sun-Beats website (the manufacturer of the bulb/speaker) they have them for $199 each! I hope no one ever paid THAT price.
I purchased these last time they were up. They are considerably larger than a standard incandescent light bulb. Unfortunately, they are too big to fit in the lamp I wanted to put them in, the harp of that lamp barely accommodates a standard size lightbulb. Check yours before you buy.
Also, the app is clunky and paring takes a long time. They don’t remember the color they were set to before power was cut off so expect a complete reset every time if you put them on switched power.
I also find the speaker to be not as good as the speakers in the iPhone 7 but probably better than the ones in the previous iPhones.
Well, I pulled the trigger on these. First purchase in more than 11 months. One to give away and one to put in my bathroom so I can have tunes when I shower. And prank my friends when they are in the can and the light bulb starts singing and changing colors. From what @viewis said, hope it fits.
@RiotDemon old. Lol. Two bulbs and one of the glass shade things is missing, I have a replacement but I haven’t gotten around to installing it as the ceiling is very high, which means dragging a ladder up the stairs and squeezing it in there, or coercing one of my 6’+ friends to get up on a chair and do it. I probably ought to just replace all three glass things with new ones, those were there when I bought the house 30 years ago, and the glass had been speckled with paint when they painted the ceiling to sell me the place.
@moondrake it’ll definitely fit in the one without glass. It may or may not fit in the other ones. It fit in my light fixture that looks like older track lighting with metal shades… But it sticks out 2-3" compared to my other bulbs.
I added one to our bathroom lights, and occasionally change the colors a little while my wife and daughter are putting on makeup (that they don’t need). I get a good laugh as they start removing what they started or even better change the color before they get started, Today the light will be more green…
My next door neighbor goes all out for holidays with lots of Halloween and Christmas lights, but also banners for shit like St. Valentine’s Day, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and whatever I’ve forgotten.
So what I started doing was replacing my front porch single-bulb light with orange for Halloween and Green for Christmas to provide a contrast in lighting dedication. I think it’s hilarious.
I was hoping I could just change the color of this bulb with my phone rather than have to swap bulbs four times a year, but if the color doesn’t stick when I turn it off, then it’s no good. Too bad.
@sudotrin better check your orders page fast… I think you just bought a single serve coffee maker… you have 56 minutes to cancel it yourself or you will need to contact support after that…
Where is the SunBeats app to control the light? Bluetooth speaker works fine but I can’t find the app to control the light in the google play app store…
I bought 2 sets - for what I paid for those 4 bulbs, plus $20, I could’ve gotten 1 Phillips Hue (speakerless) color bulb. It has its drawbacks but seriously the benefits made the minimal cost worthwhile. I’ve got one in the light above my kitchen sink. I can jam while cooking or doing dishes. Win. I have one as a gift and the recipient was VERY happy. Win. One is gonna go in my bathroom to make shower karaoke a better experience. Will I have to re-pair? Yes. Big deal, it doesn’t take that long. Win. And I still have one to put elsewhere or gift. Who’s a happy consumer? This girl.

@MehnofLaMehncha Does anyone sell speaker bulbs that can be used together?
@MehnofLaMehncha Yeah, but my kids love 'em. Came back for a couple more.
@ILikeMeh Sengled does. I think they only made them in recessed bulbs though. You paired to the master bulb, and the master sent the signal to the slaves so you could essentially have your entire house playing the same music.
@MehnofLaMehncha Cars aren’t supposed to have carburetors anymore!? I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
@Stallion to me, they weren’t bright enough to be useful even on pure white light.
@MehnofLaMehncha I thought the exact same thing and I simply couldn’t fathom some idiot thought this would be a good idea. Stahp selling these.
Can you control the color of only one light per phone?
@saintsfan504 one at a time. As soon as you disconnect, the color goes back to white. It doesn’t even stay at the color I chose. Lame.
@RiotDemon thank you very much, that is dissapointing, so if you leave your house, will the color automatically go back to white as well?
@RiotDemon That completely sucks…
@saintsfan504 I haven’t tried that. If I remember in the morning, I’ll check.
@saintsfan504 when the app said I lost Bluetooth connection, I checked and the light did stay in the color I had left it in… But when I got back in range, the audio wouldn’t play, so I had to reconnect for that to work.
Bought these last time , made nice stocking stuffers the gifts are over and i’ll pass on these at 7 bucks each delivered still a hell of a deal …
They look like mouthless screw-on heads…
@awk Must admit very nice looking, like a friggen alien
@mellowirishgent … Yeah, a pair of Alien Greys… Keep you’re eye on 'em as they may reproduce.
@unkabob or Ninja Turtles?
“You can only control one bulb per phone” so they won’t work in my 5 bulb man cave. Pass.
@Kyser_Soze A real man cave would have no bulbs, and only be lit by torches or bonfire.
This was so cheap that I almost bought it to make use of VMP. But thanks to the forum, I shall not!
@ELUNO What was it that turned you off so to say to this great deal ? The people i bought them for and i gave away 4 of these were thrilled with them
@mellowirishgent Oh, I’m pretty sure they work great for certain occasions, but the heavy dependence on a phone and no Alexa integration kills it for me.
@ELUNO I kinda agree but for a kid its a challenge and fun
Waiting for Bluetooth speaker faucets and toilet seats. Light bulbs? That’s just stupid.
@warpedrotors where’s my bluetooth, color-changing LED bidet?
@harveydanger

Is it wrong I want one of those, @RiotDemon? I mean, heated seat and heat for the feet on cold bathroom floors? Sold!
But then I looked up the price… $4500. Yow.
@haydesigner In my mind there are two things I spend a lot of time on that are worth the extra money, and those are 1.) a mattress and 2.) a toilet.
I got these last time. The bulb is not very bright, but the speaker doesn’t sound half bad.
I got these on the last sale. They’re too cool! I got four - one for myself, and one for each of my children. I gave it to them for Christmas. They loved the light/speaker. Great deal!
Bring back the gummi bears, please.
No stabbing, no margaritas. I’m out.

@RiotDemon Dude its 7 bucks delivered not a Bose sound system lol
@mellowirishgent PS post your final product of the storm sounds interesting !!
@RiotDemon What’s the purpose of the lightning simulator? Sounds like a neat and noble pursuit.
@mellowirishgent As Howard Sterns father once said " Howard It’s all in the MODULATION"
@mellowirishgent
$7 … then you’re paying yourself minimum wage to run the thing.
Value and cost are not the same thing.
@mellowirishgent I know it’s not a bose, but some people say this sounds great. I figured I’d let people know that it just sounds OK to me.
@Mehsturbator

@RiotDemon All hail the Glow Cloud???
@Kawa it’s so cool, it makes you want to!
Speaker? I hardly know her!
Any luck finding an app for the fire tablets at the mother type store? I looked but not too hard…
heres the comments from last time https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-for-tuesday-smart-led-lightbulb-bluetooth-speakers

What? I just bought these from MorningSave last week for $22! Please tell me Mediocre can return the difference, or I may be forced to return those and buy these.
How much will it cost you to return them?
@haydesigner
No idea. But it is too late now.

Can only control one bulb at a time!!! Cancelled my order…
@aaaapatrickaaaa I was going to get 2 packs til I saw this, did the same thing
I still don’t get the speaker-in-a-light-bulb thing. And there are so many!
omg omg omg these are excellent for Alexa. Put one in the ceiling right above your echo dot!
/giphy hellish-mesmerizing-popcorn
@rprussell will they work with Alexa?
@RoninSavant
It paired just like any other bluetooth speaker.
Like other posters have said, it ain’t Bose or Harmon Kardon, but gets the job done.
(I don’t use the color changing schtick. I just want sound in my kitchen…)
@RoninSavant Yes
/giphy brilliant-updated-krill
They barely give off any light, they are gargantuan! Didn’t bother with the bluetooth
@gene1ebm Thats not true. The main light is pretty bright.
I purchased these last time they were up. They are considerably larger than a standard incandescent light bulb. Unfortunately, they are too big to fit in the lamp I wanted to put them in, the harp of that lamp barely accommodates a standard size lightbulb. Check yours before you buy.

@craigthom nope, unfortunately it doesn’t stick when turned off.
@craigthom perhaps you have an old phone in a drawer you can repurpose to control the porch light during holidays (music optional)
Does it work with streaming apps like pandora?
@SouthPhillyPT, yes. It is like any other Bluetooth speaker.
@haydesigner Great! Thanks! I am waiting for it to arrive. Excited to try it out! Thanks again!

Has anyone had any luck contacting Sunbeats customer service? One of mine completely died after about two days.
Where is the SunBeats app to control the light? Bluetooth speaker works fine but I can’t find the app to control the light in the google play app store…
@mmacat the specs section at the top of this page links this one for android:
