@SSteve I hope to someday meet the creator of cam bolts… so I can fucking push him down some stairs covered in broken glass and rusty nails, into a dark basement full of rapists with AIDS, and the Macarena playing on a constant loop for 63 rape-filled days, until his birthday, when I would gather all of his friends and family, murder them in front of him, and force him to eat his birthday cake, which would be carrot cake, because that’s just not a normal type of cake for a birthday. I figure that’ll teach him.
@gjherman I have one that looks like that but is made by Black & Decker and it has worked great for years and years, holds a charge, and the battery still seems to be doing fine.
i’ll be double-damned… I have one of the screwdrivers (and yes, it makes shitty margaritas too) and admit i use it more than the drill-drivers I have. It holds a charge a ridiculously long time and is easy to use/find. The wine opener attachment is fucking brilliant, though.
@payote paint mixer attachment does wonders with the larger drill-drivers; My favorite is my new Milwaukee 28v cordless @2,000rpm. 1 5gallon bucket, 4 liters tequila, 8 liters mix, ice to 2/3 full and mix. Use a straw- you can’t sip out of the bucket without spilling it all over. That would be alcohol abuse.
@mike808 Well now that out-rednecks the most redneck margarita maker I had previously encountered. But I’ll include it here for those who don’t have a truck.
The one I used had a foot pedal and the output was a hose so you could just take it, put it in your cup, and step on the pedal to fill it up then put the hose back in the top bucket to cycle the margaritas through.
This is a great deal. I have owned one of these (with the bottle attachment) for years. Good for those with wrist issues and powerful enough to do most jobs
If anyone buys this, and doesn’t want the opener attachments, lets talk! I want the wine opener gizmo, have no interest in the screwdriver part of the package.
This may or may not be a bad screwdriver or wine opener but the whole concept is something that I must have and my girlfriend will love it if it actually does work well as a corkscrew.
(Personally, I use a waiter’s corkscrew and eschew most other methods of opening a bottle of wine as too complicated or much harder to use.)
@baqui63 essential oil pyramid schemes or something. like at least 75% of essential oil websites turn out to be these things. just tons of mommy bloggers hanging out trying to get the rest to start selling oils with them for some reason. if you stick around long enough you can watch them get into an instagram flame war about which brand is better and why you should or shouldn’t ingest them.
@jerk_nugget I’ve never seen a shirt with that on it, but it’s an old saying that’s been around longer than I have…and that’s a long time! I’ll have to find the shirt!
@Tadlem43 his was a burgundy color and had a face above the quote. at the time i recognized it and thought it funny, but of course now, sober and a few weeks later, i can’t for the life of me remember, haha. google turns up a ton of rather hokey results for me, most involving wine, as it happens
Ya know, Meh, you should consider melding this 2-fer with the 2-fer of just a few days ago; people could screw open their wine and serve it in rose-gold pineapple mugs. Please, someone, stop me before I add this to my bucket list.
Whine snobs will never buy this… it’s a red thingee looking like a mini-drill… Doesn’t skil know it has to be black with chrome, or nice and chromy like to appeal to the Whine snobs? I guess they don’t, so that’s why it’s on “meh!”. http://shop.wineenthusiast.com/search?w=electric corkscrews
Also the majority of people that would go for this type of multi-use device would normally would drink “twist cap” or “box” wine, they have no-need for these.
However, there’s a small subsection of geeks that need a wimpy screw driver for opening computer cases and such and not driving 4" screws into wood that also drink a bottle of “corked” wine every once in a while… probably most of those only frequent wine.woot.com because it’s there with the other woot “one” deal a day pages;-) But I guess a few, like me, also frequent “meh!” cause we’re old skool.
I’m tempted, but I already have a screwpull pocket wine opener that still works well… and I’ve been eyeing of those cool lookin’ rabbit pullers… and that “ah so” wine opener would be so so sweet for my 20 year old wines…
Damn you meh, you got me in a buying mood, but I’ll probably pass on your hugely practical, but one too many electrical wine openers to even consider… and I’ll probably end up buying an “ah so” wine opener from “the river that ain’t the Nile” dot com.
If there were just one, and not a pair that was a) purple, or b) the micro-usb version… you’d have me.
Yeah, that cutter version with microUSB looks cool, but is probably extremely impractical for anything and everything… but it sure looks cool and dangerous. Plus it’s micro-USB!
Meh.
Looks cool and all. But 2 is 1 too much. I’ve been looking for a small usb powered one of these. But it needs to be cost effective. Buying one at full price seems more cost effective than 2 at 48ish% off…
I was almost convinced and then I realized that I already have two drills and a Dremel in my apartment. I’d get it for my dad or my friends but anyone I know that would find it interesting already has a Dremel.
Anyone with a Dremel have this? Do you use it? I’m pretty desperate for an excuse to buy it, cause two drills for $28 isn’t too bad and they look cute. Plus, it’s less than 6 months away from Christmas, so it’s not too early to start planning gifts.
@owenversteeg I have a dremel, a corded drill and a battery powered drill. I got this, I have never had a power screwdriver before because I always used my drills but I am getting older and using a heavy drill to pull 30+ screws out of a laptop is starting to get to my wrists.
@caffeine_dude (and everyone else) I’m a moron, I didn’t realize these were power screwdrivers and not drills. I think I’m gonna pass. Thanks for your comments though everyone! I have a perfectly functional screwdriver set with a nice ergonomic handle and my wrists don’t really get tired easily.
@Tadlem43 They are a solid light duty screwdriver. They have been on the market for years and years. Probably all the screwdriver that a common household needs. No, you won’t be building a deck with these. But you can replace an outlet, remove an air vent, tighten a pot handle and so forth.
a. The description says Two wireless power screwdrivers. Do they have Bluetooth or WiFi? No? Then that’s commonly called cordless, not wireless.
b. Twelve pix on the main page, but only eight in the product page? I haven’t gone back to look at old listings, but I thought that the pix on the two pages matched.
@MWPollard my favorite IT problem is when someone calls about an issue with their wireless printer.
“is it plugged in?”
“why would it be plugged in?! it’s wireless!!”
as someone who has and has had a lot of ikea furniture, unless this thing removes tons of teeny tiny nails from cardboard in one go, it is not useful for disassembling ikea furniture. also? ikea furniture is not something that takes well to disassembling. or moving. but if you leave it be, it’s actually quite nice for quite a long time.
ps, if your corkscrew goes missing, twist a screw into the cork, then use the claw end of a hammer to remove it and the cork. not like i’ve ever been trying desperately to open a bottle of $3 wine in the middle of the night or anything.
Tempted, but I don’t need two and I don’t know anyone who needs one. Here’s a question Meh, why so many nifty father’s day gift ideas when all you offer women are pearl necklaces? I guess I’ll pass, unless someone here wants to do sharezees?
@Tadlem43 hi! Bummer, I’m in Jupiter FL. Too bad we’re not closer. The shipping fees would probably add up to the same price if we were to buy our own separately. Unless you have an “in” with the post office! LOL!
@Tadlem43 I’m a disabled housewife (what a title!) so I have a lot of time to keep a watch on something like these. If I find a good deal at some point, I’ll let you know.
@bloondie2 Thanks. I"m always dickering around the house fixing something or updating something or breaking something. This kind of thing could be handy, but not necessary. I admit it… I like gadgets. I’m an ex-wife (happily!) who has to do things on her own. Good thing I enjoy it!
@Tadlem43 if I want things done, I have to do them myself (if physically capable, of course) or I threaten to call someone. Though that’s not even working anymore. I like doing stuff around the house as well and this would have been handy, but so stupid that we have to buy 2! Double meh, Meh!
@annamaria the foil cutter helps to take off the annoying foil bit around the bottle. The stopper is for when you don’t finish your wine in one sitting so you can close it back up.
I have one of these screwdrivers. It’s awesome and I use it all the time. It’s the perfect size and strength for household jobs and it’s surprisingly strong. A lot of times I grab it thinking “I’ll try this because it’s right here, and if it doesn’t work I’ll go get my big cordless drill from the garage” and 9 times out of 10 it’s up to the task. And yes, it makes assembling IKEA furniture MUCH easier. With the shape of the handle, you can get the right amount of force onto these things:
If anyone is wondering WTF about this deal: buy it, keep one, give one as a gift, and ignore the wine stuff. This is a great little tool and a great deal, disguised as a crazy thing you can’t see the purpose of buying. (OMGWTF I don’t even drink wine!!!11)
Semi-gag x-mas gifts for people who already own electric screwdrivers and electric cork-pullers, but will think it’s funny anyway. In other words, my whole family.
/giphy dangerous-upsetting-town
Auto mechanic; these work great for disassembling interiors and dash panels in cars. Jobs like heater core replacements can require removing and installing 50 or more screws. The snap-on version of this is a couple hundred dollars and really does not work any better. Brute power is not needed, just the ability to run for a long time.
And the wife will love the other one for the corkscrew!
Time’s almost up. My dear departed dad bought me another brand of this driver 11 years ago, and it’s still going strong–but it won’t last forever I know. I use it to check my 14 bluebird boxes once a week. I tried to find another person who wanted one, but failed. Sorry, meh, good deal, it was just an off day for me as far as rationalizing goes. (A behind the scenes post that didn’t need posted. Next week, mine will probably fail :))

Wine people problems.
@payote That’s mighty white of you to say.
You don’t need a power screwdriver to disassemble IKEA furniture. You need only attempt to move it.
@SSteve that or place a stack of books upon it.
@warpedrotors You had me until the carrot cake, but at that point you went just too far.
@warpedrotors What kind of icing?
@Ganson http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/a-wwii-propaganda-campaign-popularized-the-myth-that-carrots-help-you-see-in-the-dark-28812484/
4v?? Yep, the only thing you’ll be able to screw with this will probably be that cork.
@haydesigner Even worse, since it’s Li-on, it’s probably 3.7 volts that they rounded up to 4.
@haydesigner THATS WHAT SHE SAID!
@haydesigner I have a couple Hammerhead drivers from Lowes with what appear to be identical specs.
It is all in the gearing. Can’t speak for today’s deal examples but mine actually work on screws and such.
@cengland0 3.6v. It is designed to drain battery after opening two corks to prevent drinking more than two bottles. Genius!
What a weird deal. Two of an item where one would be more than you’d need. Then it comes with a wine opener which is completely unrelated. Strange.
@cengland0 You guys asked for new and different items so…but they keep true to Meh by providing another tool with a LED light.
My dad has one of these screwdrivers and it works great. Worth it for those alone.
@gjherman I have one that looks like that but is made by Black & Decker and it has worked great for years and years, holds a charge, and the battery still seems to be doing fine.
I dont even…
What. In. The. Fuck?
Who and why would such a combo ever exist …
/8ball Should I buy this?
Don’t count on it
@narfcake
What if somebody were to buy it for you?
(Just “asking”…)
@PlacidPenguin
/8ball Should someone waste their money to buy this for me?
My reply is no
@narfcake To impress high class wine drinkers. Nothing says class like opening an expensive bottle of wine with a powered screwdriver…
“try the wine”
/giphy cumbersome-hopeless-ring
You might have power, you might have Vivo Power, but do you have… SKIL iXO Vivo Power!!!
Sounds like something a group of robots shout before combining to form a giant screwdriver robot.
@awk No, typically they shout “Klaatu barada nikto!”
i’ll be double-damned… I have one of the screwdrivers (and yes, it makes shitty margaritas too) and admit i use it more than the drill-drivers I have. It holds a charge a ridiculously long time and is easy to use/find. The wine opener attachment is fucking brilliant, though.
@alacrity How do you make the margaritas? Did yours come with a stirrer attachment?
@payote Who hasn’t made margaritas with a power tool?
@payote paint mixer attachment does wonders with the larger drill-drivers; My favorite is my new Milwaukee 28v cordless @2,000rpm. 1 5gallon bucket, 4 liters tequila, 8 liters mix, ice to 2/3 full and mix. Use a straw- you can’t sip out of the bucket without spilling it all over. That would be alcohol abuse.
@alacrity Screw that battery powered bullshit. If you’re gonna make margaritas, make some fucking margaritas, for crying out loud.
@mike808 you brought a gun to a knife fight. Mine fits handily in my tool belt. That one fits handily in my hitch.
Great for a board OR a Bordeaux
/giphy you’re welcome
This maybe the best meh ever. I cant wait to get these.
This is a great deal. I have owned one of these (with the bottle attachment) for years. Good for those with wrist issues and powerful enough to do most jobs
@harbour I bought this because it’s a hell of a deal, but now I think meh is just playing with me with the order number.
/giphy nerdy manageable wrist
If anyone buys this, and doesn’t want the opener attachments, lets talk! I want the wine opener gizmo, have no interest in the screwdriver part of the package.
@bdb I bought it for the screwdriver.
@caffeine_dude Hmm. No direct messaging, and I would prefer to not put my email address here to be viewable for all time. Ideas?
@bdb how much are you willing to spend? Freight may make this a no go. I was thinking of hooking up with a temp email.
@caffeine_dude $12 shipped for the two of them is what I am thinking.
@bdb Do you mind if I keep 1 stopper?
FYI the corks screw remover attaches with a recessed 1/4" hex bit.
this is brilliant
I’m all for wine and screwing but this is not what I am by wine and a screw so Meh.
“Drink wine and screw” is lame. So lame I’m embarrassed for you, meh.
@lordbowen it’s a Queens of the Stone Age reference.
@lordbowen It got me to giggle. And that takes a lot.

You paid $28 for two. Your friend paid $22 for one.
Who do YOU think got a better deal?
Still love this deal I use this drill for small projects around the house all the time!!! This is a deal because there were 2 drills to this offer.
