@rileyper It should be able to get to 100 with no problem. It's just an image with text overlaid. I manually edited the text and this is what it would look like:
@dave Try to imagine all life as you know it doing instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. (Total audiophonic reversal)
@sircolton or two splitters in a splitter and get four jacks. Then four in four to get 16. How many connections to get to the moon. Are these rhetorical questions that need to be answered?
@ruouttaurmind We just bought a terrible splitter w/2 sets of headphones (only one of which worked) at Big Lots to watch Orphan Black on a plane a week ago. Very useful in a limited number of situations, I'd say.
Near instant Meh. My nephew had this and the volume control, like a lot of reviews say, is terrible. I was either blowing my eardrums out or struggling to hear the music.
@marvelljones From the Manuel: " The Splitter does not override or control volume settings on your portable audio player. If volume level is too low or becomes too loud or distorted, try increasing or decreasing volume using your player’s volume controls. Then fine tune volume with the Splitter"
@marvelljones From an Amazon review: "This particular model is VERY touchy with the volume control. When one person adjusted their volume down the volume went up for the other person (and vice versa). Also, less than a couple months in the silver piece around the plug came loose and now slides up and down the small cord section."
@stinks That's just how electricity works. You put in X power, you get out X (waste aside). So if you put in X and get out Y and Z, Y+Z needs to remain the same. The only way to get rid of the effect you describe would be to bleed it somehow (although I would think that's how it would work so I guess I dunno).
Ahhh fuck, here we go again. We find ourselves once again at that dark alley next to that shady ass pawn shop. In the darkness you hear bickering...and out emerges not only Twofer Tuesday but also Five Dolla Special. Individually they are shady as fuck but together they become a monster of impulsivity and temptation. One can't help but be drawn in to their deals. This time they emerge victorious...fucking bitches.
For $4 I'm sure I can find some use for these. Even if it's just throwing them in the back of the junk drawer so I can pull them out in 5 years and go "what the hell did I buy these for?"
I know nothing about Monster except what I've read here. I am, however, impressed by their video for this on Amazon's page. The person narrating the Monster video does not speak with a British accent or a fake British accent! The guy sounds like, you know, a guy. For that reason alone, I'm glad I ordered.
@uwacn Argh. That's probably a better deal. Thanks for making me spend another $1.39, and for getting a strange package from China I don't remember ordering in three months.
@cengland0 Only thing is you also had to pay tax. Perhaps they charged for shipping too. (I use camelcamelcamel all the time and can't remember seeing shipping costs in history.)
Plus, Mediocre is your friend. Third-party Chinese company hates that you have access to clean air and water.
@gwrankin Several of the 3rd party sellers are offering free shipping with $35 minimum purchase (or Prime) because they are fulfilled by Amazon. One is free shipping even though they fulfill it themselves. The rest charge about $4.99 for shipping. Not sure who had it for $1.99 and not sure what the shipping was on today's product but $4.99 is still 1 cent less than what Meh charges for shipping for non VMP members.
Regarding tax, I've noticed that Amazon doesn't collect taxes from 3rd party sellers. I've had several orders mixed with some "sold by Amazon" and some "sold by 3rd party" and only the "sold by Amazon" ones were taxed.
I buy splitters all the time for work and they usually cost about this price for generic crap that work 95% of the time. Sometimes you'll get a female connector port that's way too loose or isn't deep enough.
At least I know that while usually wildly overpriced, Monster makes much higher quality cables and connectors.
Monster? Out before I'm in. I won't buy anything from them ever ever ever. I wouldn't even take their stuff for free. They're the original mass-market audioph00l panderers and I won't encourage that sort of behavior.
@kensey I looked at it this way - at 2 bucks each, the typical Monster gouging was prevented from entering their coffers. They took a bath on these vs. their normal required margin.
More great marketing by Monster! Now all "jump on the band wagon" Monster haters who purchase these (and you know who you are) lose all credibility when they post "hater" comments about Monster in the future...as if they had any credibility in the first place.
@s3r3n1ty I would say probably not and if it does, it's not good for the two audio sources.
First problem is the headphone would not fit into the male connector so you would need an additional adapter.
Then you have the problem with the outputs of each device being connected together. It's possible that one device would end up putting power into the output of the second device.
Imagine taking your home stereo and taking the left and right channels and connecting them both to one speaker to get mono. You would probably destroy your amplifier.
Doubtful you would destroy audio sources with headphone outputs because the level is much lower than speakers but the concept is the same.
@dkrupps so modular electronic music nerds can say "wow! a tiny thing that will help me split signal chains WITH volume control as long as i can deal with headphone level? I'll take four!" (refined-upbeat-dingo)
@dkrupps -- dear sir, these units are specifically designed to accomodate the user with years of earbuds stashed away, those that had one earbud die, yet the other functions. Clip off one wire/bud, from two different failed units.... and viola! I knew I'd make use of those damn Shure units that halfway died!
There's a guy who hangs out near this one building where I go to lunch sometimes. He's missing an arm, a leg, and a whole bunch of teeth. Nice guy, though. I usually pop a few dollars into his Tupperware container as I pass by and then wish him a good day. After these come in, next time, I'm gonna pop one of these in instead.
In for a tarnished-passing-cilantro. Well, two of them. And by two I mean four.
I think a lot of folks know, being a curmudgeonly east-coaster, I go to bed and have an alarm that wakes me up to check the new Meh. I saw the splitter, and in my stupor thought, "It's only $4. I should get two", totally blanking on the fact it was two-for-Tuesday, for which @mfladd is completely to blame.
Everybody is getting a splitter for the holidays this year, I guess. Thanks Meh.
@ACraigL I did the same exact thing, heard alarm, checked said yep 2 would be nice went back to sleep. Now I realize I have 4. Oh well.. I can slice them to 3 and use all 808 headphones at once.
@lucasatakros yes, this will probably work, tho at some point sound quality will steeply drop off since you're dividing the small amount of power that a headphone jack outputs into tinier and tinier chunks. idk, can't hurt to try it!
I bought a pair of similar items (Logitechs) from Woot several years ago, and they've come in very useful a few times over the years, mainly sharing on planes. The biggest pain is keeping track of them between those times.

I wish they had ones that amplified the signal too :(
Was this a first? Did I actually manage a first with a regular comment?
@darkzrobe I am going to star myself just cause I feel special.
@darkzrobe don't mention you are first your will be berated about it not being the 90's anymore ;)
@darkzrobe I'm proud of you. Knew you had it in you all along.
@thismyusername Hey dont take this away from me, this is like that time where I got the first sale on a woot item. I felt so special.
@Moose :) Coming from you that means everything.
@darkzrobe I still think FIRST matters, you wont get any heat from me :)
@darkzrobe
@darkzrobe I'm gonna star you, too. I'm easy.
@gertiestn Hey I left you a little sumthing sumthing...
@JonT <3
@darkzrobe
@JonT Can these stars go past 100, or could this be a bug that hasn't happened yet?
@rileyper
@rileyper I dont know if that many people will click. I guess I will check in the morning. Off to bed.
On a side note I am afraid to check my email tomorrow morning with all these replies...
@rileyper It should be able to get to 100 with no problem. It's just an image with text overlaid. I manually edited the text and this is what it would look like:
@cengland0 @darkzrobe
I believe the highest star accumulation ive seen on a forum post was around 150. Cant remember the forum but i know ive seen several over 100.
@darkzrobe first is the worst second is the best third is the one with the hairy chest
@thismyusername Wait, it's the fault of @darkzrobe that it's not the '90's anymore? Finally, some answers.
@darkzrobe 65 stars as of 1:30pm Eastern, wow! Impressive and truly a standout count.
@mossygreen I wasn't aware of this, but it makes sense.
@gertiestn I starred them as well. I am easy like ... how does this saying go?
@thismyusername Number 3 is always "??". Then number 4 will be "profit". Do you even meme?
@Mac454 hows that? and I only dank meme... :(
@thismyusername
For the record, Mr. Name edited his original post. Cuz he cool like that.
Could you put a splitter in a splitter to get 3-in-1?
@sircolton Ya, but you would really need to turn up the volume on the device as each time you do it you loose power.
@sircolton You dare too much.
@sircolton Worth a try.
@sircolton Just make absolutely sure you don't. cross. the. splitters. That would be bad.
Don't know what they are
Much less why I would need them
Very easy meh
@Portlis No, no, no, the haiku contest was yesterday.
@Portlis Picture it. Your kids with headphones in the back seat watching the same DVD movie a laptop. You no longer have to listen to Bubble Guppies.

Monster...hmmm...$2 each. Finally a Monster product that isn't monsterly overpriced...
@eeterrific Well, thanks to meh, yeah
@eeterrific No, just monstrously useless. ;-)
@ruouttaurmind I used one of these yesterday to do simulated surround sound in my budget home theater
Just sayin'...
@PhysAssist Who is this Manuel you speak of?
Hi @Pitmuffin, You weel find heem here: http://www.monsterproducts.com/File%20Library/Product%20Manuals/6588/iSplitter1000.pdf
@marvelljones From an Amazon review: "This particular model is VERY touchy with the volume control. When one person adjusted their volume down the volume went up for the other person (and vice versa). Also, less than a couple months in the silver piece around the plug came loose and now slides up and down the small cord section."
Which prune juice are these again?
@stinks That's just how electricity works. You put in X power, you get out X (waste aside). So if you put in X and get out Y and Z, Y+Z needs to remain the same. The only way to get rid of the effect you describe would be to bleed it somehow (although I would think that's how it would work so I guess I dunno).
Im splitting these prices... IN HALF
@Cave But is that really increasing the volume?
Ahhh fuck, here we go again. We find ourselves once again at that dark alley next to that shady ass pawn shop. In the darkness you hear bickering...and out emerges not only Twofer Tuesday but also Five Dolla Special. Individually they are shady as fuck but together they become a monster of impulsivity and temptation. One can't help but be drawn in to their deals. This time they emerge victorious...fucking bitches.
I don't even need these things, but what the Meh.... they're in my price range.
For $4 I'm sure I can find some use for these. Even if it's just throwing them in the back of the junk drawer so I can pull them out in 5 years and go "what the hell did I buy these for?"
@thebrowncoat That's exactly what they want you to think.
Ugh $4. The perfect price.
I'm a sucker for anything under $5 that I might use some time.
@christinewas I came here looking for a reason to NOT buy. You're not helping. ;-p
Why $13 for 2?
Someone cancel my $5.00 membership?
@ddwalt71 it looks like you aren't a VMP, most likely the card we had on file for VMP expired or we couldn't charge it for some reason.
Message us at https://meh.com/support and we can figure it out with you.
@ddwalt71 or is it $13 for 4 hmmmmm?or $13 for two groups of two? or $13 for two sets of two-for-tuesday totality?
used-hateful-huckleberry
@Kerig3 That order number if fuckleberry perfect.

@Mac454 That's just too funny!! Unlike:
neurotic-automatic-expansion
@Mac454 Best. Order. Number. Image. Ever. (the Rattlesnake one)
Will these work with my Bluetooth headphones?
@cengland0 They'll work on the 808 Bluetooth headphones when you have the optional cord plugged in.

"duraflex".........sounds like a rubber
Chinese 3.5mm Y splitter with volume controls are $1.39 each on eBay. Might be just as good as Monster these days. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stereo-Audio-3-5mm-Y-Splitter-2-Female-to-1-Male-Cable-Adapter-Volume-Adjustment-/271684441177
@uwacn I actually like that flexible cable better instead of that huge box with the Monster brand.
@uwacn Argh. That's probably a better deal. Thanks for making me spend another $1.39, and for getting a strange package from China I don't remember ordering in three months.
3rd party on Amazon did have them for $1.99 each Apr 07, 2013.
@cengland0 Only thing is you also had to pay tax. Perhaps they charged for shipping too. (I use camelcamelcamel all the time and can't remember seeing shipping costs in history.)

@cengland0 damn it. And my time machine is broken this week. Waiting on a part from china.
@cengland0 If the third party seller is in the same state as you, Amazon collects the tax. Had it happen often.
Well, OK, in spite of the Monster brand, offensive-forked-alligator. Is that why we're dealing with reptile order numbers?
WARNING: These headphone splitters do not have pagination. For that reason alone, I'm out.
@phatmass And they're not purple. For that reason alone, I'm out.
Instant purchase of 3 sets.

Glad I stayed up late this time.
@gwrankin {snicker} @ port comment.
@gwrankin I find that most female ports aren't deep enough... Hey! Yo!
I'll be here all week...
@ruouttaurmind not deep enough for me anyway.
Monster? Out before I'm in. I won't buy anything from them ever ever ever. I wouldn't even take their stuff for free. They're the original mass-market audioph00l panderers and I won't encourage that sort of behavior.

treasured-grieving-clove
Damn it! Ibought something I don't need...AGAIN!!
@Kyser_Soze agreed. But at least these are cheap, compact and easy to hide from memory.
I wish I had a conjoined twin to fully utilize these headphone splitters, but I don't.
More great marketing by Monster! Now all "jump on the band wagon" Monster haters who purchase these (and you know who you are) lose all credibility when they post "hater" comments about Monster in the future...as if they had any credibility in the first place.
Does it work the other way around, meaning combining two audio sources and outputting to one headphone?
@s3r3n1ty I would say probably not and if it does, it's not good for the two audio sources.
First problem is the headphone would not fit into the male connector so you would need an additional adapter.

Doubtful you would destroy audio sources with headphone outputs because the level is much lower than speakers but the concept is the same.
Can someone.. Hell, ANYONE.. out there in Meh-land please explain why this, is still a thing?
@dkrupps Children. 2 kids + 1 tablet/iPod = need splitter
@dkrupps We can use it on the plane for our 2 kids when they watch a movie.
@dkrupps so modular electronic music nerds can say "wow! a tiny thing that will help me split signal chains WITH volume control as long as i can deal with headphone level? I'll take four!" (refined-upbeat-dingo)
@dkrupps I bought one of these years ago - the volume control lets you use decent quality earbuds on a plane without being deafened.
@dkrupps I use these to enjoy a tablet plane movie when my fiance wants to half watch/nap while I hold the tablet.
@dkrupps To switch easily between speakers and headphones, without having to unplug anything.
@dkrupps when camping, for two listeners, so as not to bother others.
I don't need a splitter, but I do need those froggies with mushrooms on their heads!
@looseneck @kylethephotoguy was particularly inspired today. Not sure where he draws his inspiration or bizarre props
@looseneck From alternate universe.

@ACraigL totally my fault. I also am to blame for the 8 pairs of headphones you now need to buy.
@ACraigL I did the same exact thing, heard alarm, checked said yep 2 would be nice went back to sleep. Now I realize I have 4. Oh well.. I can slice them to 3 and use all 808 headphones at once.
Shipping costs more than the product... somehow makes this harder to swallow...
@changeismeh Ah, the magic of VMP takes that heartache away.
@changeismeh y u no VMP?!
@changeismeh https://mediocre.com/vmp!
OH MY, I just bought three sets without even checking reviews. I truly haven't woken up yet..............
.....now I'm wondering, if I plug two adapters into one adapter, will 4 people be able to listen?
....I'll continue with these silly thoughts until I wake up.
@lucasatakros yes, this will probably work, tho at some point sound quality will steeply drop off since you're dividing the small amount of power that a headphone jack outputs into tinier and tinier chunks. idk, can't hurt to try it!
They lost me at 'iSplitter' Can't we all just get along?
Anyone know if these can be used for input rather than output? I could stand to be able to jack two devices into one line-in and volume control them.
@onyxrook Scroll up!
@onyxrook Yes, this should work as a primitive mixer for two headphone or line out signals.
Why the fit-godlike-puffin did I just buy this? I have pretty much no use for them.
@elizadeath That's the spirit!
barefoot-sexy-heron; why the f is shipping more then the cost. I want to pay $5 for these, not $4
@sarahtarah y u no VMP?!
@connorbush I was, then I didn't buy anything for 2 months, :-/
BUT I AM VMP AGAIN....after a months hiatus
@sarahtarah beautiful. Now you must buy more stuff to amortize the VMP/average shipping cost to something truly trivial! It is a nefarious trap.
The image search for enamored-teasing-crook brought up some unlovely potbellied tats, and I blame @mfladd . This is what the crook should look like:
@OldCatLady It's ok, you can use my pic. Oh, you already did :)
@OldCatLady he looks highly intelligent.
i needed these 10 years ago, but still bought it cause sucker for cheap crap.. needs more cheap crap!!
gusty-wishful-hippopotamus
Let's hope these bad boys work with the nexus's. Other splitters we've bought don't work.
waiting-clean-highball
Meh, my junk drawer hates you.
Approaching 2pm Eastern and 3,000 sales, nice quantities available, Meh!
Do you have a UPC or EAN code on the package. The product you compared on Amazon has different packaging without French.
Do I need them, nope. Will I ever use them, probably not. Did I buy them still, of course.
