@molfsontan funny, maybe this is a Rorschach-like test... when I saw the picture at first I thought it said "boobie" on the bottle, which would have been a much better product name.
Thank you @j9song for perfectly illustrating the concept of VMP Bait.!!! You did NOT purchase because you had no VMP bait temptation. How @cengland0 somehow warped that into some concept he thinks should be shared with me is, frankly, inconceivable. @cengland0 THIS PERSON SAVED MONEY ON A PRODUCT THAT THEY CAN DO WITHOUT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT TEMPTED BY HAVING VMP YOU DOLT!!!!!!!! @jont - peddle your addictive bait elsewhere....leave poor @j9song alone. @margot - yes, I did.
Well look who decided to fucking show up...Twofer Tuesday, that dirty filthy temptress. Here I sit, proud of myself for resisting her temptations twice now. And yet, for some reason I apparently really need some of those bottles. Son of a bitch, in for a few sets of two.
So meh. The husband was given a couple at work and they didn't come close to lasting through 300 uses. The plastic is very thin and crumpled and one filter broke down after less than 20 uses.
@brainmist Hopefully your experience with them is better. And at the price, even a few uses beats a single water bottle. Although I just refill those over and over as well. Now don't mindme typing until I see that my husband is done folding the mountain of laundry.
@jaremelz Bwah! I wish I'd seen that, I would have helpfully offered filler discussion for such a good cause. I mean, isn't that entirely what discussion fora are for?
@brainmist Absolutely. Most good discussions are had not because we have a driving need to share, but because we are all just really hoping that if we wait long enough, someone else will do dishes! It can't be just me.
And Denver is totally hit or miss. You got fresh mountain water here, buried chemical or nuclear weapons there. Crystal clear creeks here, mining runoff there.
@saodell I miss Denver water so much. Nothing was better than returning from grandma's house in Oklahoma where they say "huh, water still tastes bad, pour more bleach in it I reckon" and getting a nice cold glass of rocky mountain water.
@joelmw of all the places I've been, Waco, TX is the worst of the worst when it comes to tap water. The city blames it on the dairy farms up stream but I say the brine shirmp swimming around in it don't help.
@joelmw LOL my late grandmother insisted for my entire life that Dallas had the best tap water in the world. She always turned her nose up at our tap water when she visited.
@Noddy93 yup, Waco water is teh bad. I always use filter bottles at work to help it but lately my Camelbak filter bottle is not working well so I'm in for this deal.
I have these been using Bobbles for over a year. The filters last much longer than 300 bottles. More like 500+. This is a great deal, the filters alone cost about $9 for a two pack. I love these, the sport ones hold up much better than the clear ones.
@okaytodd How do you know when the filter is no longer working? Perhaps after 300 it should have been replaced because its effectiveness has diminished.
I don't filter the water from the tap. It's fine the way it is with the chemicals they put in. We all need the fluoride for better dental health and the chlorine kills germs.
I heard there was a study that showed people who drank filtered water (or bottled water) exclusively had more tooth decay than those that drank the tap water unfiltered. This is obviously a large sample of people and there are people that will not fit that profile.
@cengland0 Few cheap filtration systems will remove fluoride. Ones like these, or Brita, Pur, or similar, won't. Some higher end systems, with Zerowater being probably the cheapest, can, but these more popular ones don't filter enough to do it.
@cengland0 To support your surmise, just about 20 years ago, we moved to a house in a very rural area, where the only option is well water, which we actually love, because it really tastes great, and is cold all year round. Unfortunately, we have had tons more cavities and even some root canals, something that had never been a problem when we were on city water.
@PhysAssist Meanwhile, I pretty much had only bottled water (tends to be fluorideless) for a few years (not one for soda or much else, just delicious water), rarely brushed, but still went to dentist regularly for check ups, and rarely have sugar. Never had cavities. Moved to a situation where bottled water was harder to get, but drank from the city tap (tasted awful), decided after a while to take my dental hygiene seriously, brushed religiously for a few months... cavity. Genetics apparently plays a huge part in when, and if, you can become more susceptible to teeth problems. Kinda lame like that. :\
@editorkid It may not be a good thing to drink but still, our life expectancy continues to rise even after drinking it. We started using it in 1904 in the USA.
@PhysAssist Our dentist wrote a prescription for fluoride for our children when we moved to a house with well water. Our well water has about half of the minimum recomended amount of fluorine for healthy teeth in young children. Its enough for older children and adults.
@cengland0 I"m not arguing the health benefits of chlorine. It stinks and tastes just as bad. If the water makes it to my tap germ-free, there's little reason to keep the chlorine in it from there.
@hamjudo Dental health is a truly multi-factorial issue, given that [some of] the factors that influence dental caries include [but are not limited to] diet, location, genetics, and even marital partner. In my specific case, I had to be on a combination of IV and oral antibiotics for a full year due to an infected joint, and that may have been the pivotal change in my dental health, because though i did have rare blips before that, the bulk of my issues came afterwards. That said, we both use fluoride toothpaste and a professional strength fluoride rinse, however my current dentist thinks that it is probably not very helpful compared with having fluoride in the water that we use for drinking, cooking, and daily hygiene. He also thinks that fluoride is many jhelpful to kids, and not adults, but hasn't produced any decent quality evidence to support that contention. We have many lively discussions about it though- my part being limited to "Uh-HuuH and mmmble mmmble mmmble" a lot of the time. ;-)
@Talidan My spousal unit comes from a family with bad choppers, but the [more general] evidence isn't clear if that means genetics or just oral colonization with less helpful/more cari-genic bateria. The possibility/likelihood of oral bacterial transfer by kissing HAS been researched, and is thought to be part of why the dental health of marital partners may affect their spouses tooth decay.
@PhysAssist@Headly@samnick Rinses and toothpaste with fluoride get the fluoride to exposed tooth enamel. Until all of a child's adult teeth come in, there will be some enamel still hidden within the gums. The only way to get fluoride to teeth that are still forming, is via ingestion. If it isn't in the water, give your kid a pill of the correct strength (too much fluoride will mottle the teeth). Our dentist used the dental xrays to see when the last of the adult teeth had finished putting on enamel. We didn't actually have to wait for the wisdom teeth to poke through.
TL/DR; Fluoride toothpaste and rinse good enough for adults, but not children.
I got a couple of these a year or so ago and hated them. They were hard to get water through the filter, meaning you only got some dribbles. The bottles are quite sturdy, so you can't really squeeze them, which didn't help
North Fart Myers...stayed with a friend...the only place where I've gagged in the shower! Phoenix water tastes like liquid dust...my fave is people who put tap ice in their expensive waters.
Cleaning the filter/mouth part of these ended my usage early. That and the fact that you can't really take big sips of water. I found taking big gulps of gross work water more satisfying than trying to use these.
@eyewerks It will definitely remove any chlorine and probably some organic contaminants, can't promise anything about the odor. You'll still be drinking pee though. But, y'know, all in the name of science right?
@Moose Astronauts have been drinking kidney juice for the last fifty years. As far as the taste and odor go, ....I believe that is what Tang was developed for. :)
@sarahtarah do you care to elaborate? What part gets gross, the filter or the bottle? If the latter, is that due to lackadaisical cleaning practices or some other issue?
@PhysAssist Perhaps prune soda helps to keep people regular, avoiding the killer constipation. My grandmother made it to 107, and she swore by dandelion water, albeit she only consumed it once or twice a year.
I assume you remove the cap and filter before tossing said bottle into the Bosch. Even then, how is the hot soapy water supposed to infiltrate the bottle through the narrow neck to clean the inside of the vessel, ...or is said exercise just performed to remove finger residue on the outside?
Or, ...does "dishwasher safe" mean that it's okay for the guy working in the kitchen ( the one that that lacks a green card) to use?
Kid at boarding school in the mountains of Virginia, and the tap water tastes hideous (seriously, how did they manage that). Expensive filter bottle got "lost", this is cheap enough that I won't freak out when it inevitably disappears. Stocking up.
Meh very meh. I don't like the taste from the bobbles. It gave the water a weird taste. We have decent enough water. Nice and cold. Come on meh. I'm starting to feel it. I went to the Roman Baths and drank some of the spring water (out of their faucet specifically for tourists to take a sip, I'm not an animal) and it tasted just like well water. Warm well water, that is. Actually I smuggled some out of their and onto the plane home, where it still sits after almost a year. I bet factions of algae are squabbling over the remaining resources by now.
Why would you fold the huge tag in half and put it into narrow opening and let it expand inside? Can't get that out of bottle! I had to put warm water in and let it losen up the paper and wash this out
@gojoecho YES. I came on to suggest that the internal tag could be the reason these couldn't sell in the first place!! Took me 5+ minutes to get the paper out...
@alandanziger@gojoecho The tag in each bottle has really soured me on this entire purchase. Did that show up in the sale-day photos? I don't recall it and don't think I'd have bought the things if I'd seen it.
So anyone else get the e-mail that the didn't get enough grey so the will refund cost of grey and toss in 1 red 1 green to my existing order (i ordered 1 set of each) and they should ship today. No complaints, it happens and I'm getting hooked up. I ordered at 12:04 yet mine always ships late. Must be all the east coast hate I hear about. J/k I'm in no rush :)
@StrangerDanger Yeah, I got the same email. I ordered three sets, one of each color (ordered at 12:01 am, also on the East Coast. Conspiracy!) I feel bad about the refund because I didn't really care about what color I got.
What the heck meh! I bought the green and grey and they arent the same bottle! Grey is thinner and has a grip. Green is a thicker shorter bottle.. Disappointed
Used these two or three times but mine suck. Got 6 total (3 red, 3 green) and ALL of the reds don't work right - mostly air comes out when you try to drink. I don't know about the greens yet.

First?
Finally!
@squilly well done!
There's something phallic about those filters.
@molfsontan funny, maybe this is a Rorschach-like test... when I saw the picture at first I thought it said "boobie" on the bottle, which would have been a much better product name.
@molfsontan If your phallus looks like that go to a doctor right now.
@Potatoboy My doctor told me my dick does a really good job of filtering water, though.
@belowi You might be onto something. I swear that picture looks like my grandma's implants.
@samnrick She has nipple rings?
mehrror mehrror on the wall, who's the mehest of them all?
I don't do filter cigarettes and I don't do filtered water. I do drink filtered vodka....
@eeterrific Could use them to filter cheap vodka.
Not worth $13 dollars for us non VMP peeps
@msimard8 But it isn't 2 bottles for $13… it's 2 bottles AND free shipping for the month.
@msimard8 I am now non VMP...just cancelled before renew date.
But the whole point of bottled water is to have a bottle you can throw away instead of carying around an empty container with you all day.
That's why nobody cares the bottles essentially contain tap water.
@giroro I mean, that's also why someone would want to get a re-usable water bottle....
@bmichael My point is you can't throw away a reuseable bottle, you have to carry it around with you like a shmuck once it's empty..
@giroro, fill it back up so you don't look like a shmuck with an empty bottle.
@giroro I've been drinking out of the same Smartwater bottle for months! Ha haaaa, who's the smart one now, Smartwater?!
would get it if i still had VMP. sigh oh well
@j9song Please tell that to @unixrab. He's a non believer.
@cengland0 @unixrab and Mikey shared a room in kindergarten.
@j9song you know you can become VMP again, right?
Thank you @j9song for perfectly illustrating the concept of VMP Bait.!!! You did NOT purchase because you had no VMP bait temptation. No purple. For that alone, meh.
@NoTroop I was really hoping for purple. :(
Well look who decided to fucking show up...Twofer Tuesday, that dirty filthy temptress. Here I sit, proud of myself for resisting her temptations twice now. And yet, for some reason I apparently really need some of those bottles. Son of a bitch, in for a few sets of two.
@studerc two sets of two on twofer Tuesday!
So meh. The husband was given a couple at work and they didn't come close to lasting through 300 uses. The plastic is very thin and crumpled and one filter broke down after less than 20 uses.
@jaremelz Shoot, wish I'd rad that first. ah well.
@brainmist Hopefully your experience with them is better. And at the price, even a few uses beats a single water bottle. Although I just refill those over and over as well. Now don't mindme typing until I see that my husband is done folding the mountain of laundry.

Did the crayfish die?
@cengland0
@cengland0 confirm, crayfish be ded
after three months of no purchase!! two of twofertuesday!!
This was obviously written for people who don't live in the DFW metroplex. Because nothing's grosser than my city's water.
And I'm genuinely curious if someone who knows how bad the water is around here has taste-tested this on our shitty water.
Anyone?
@joelmw The Cumberland Punch in Nashvegas gets my vote for grossest
And Denver is totally hit or miss. You got fresh mountain water here, buried chemical or nuclear weapons there. Crystal clear creeks here, mining runoff there.
@joelmw Chicago has half a dozen intakes in Lake Michigan to supply the city's fresh water. Mussels have colonized the intakes. I'm allergic to seafood. And then there's the drugs: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/drugs-contaminate-lake-michigan/
@saodell I miss Denver water so much. Nothing was better than returning from grandma's house in Oklahoma where they say "huh, water still tastes bad, pour more bleach in it I reckon" and getting a nice cold glass of rocky mountain water.

@Noddy93 @joelmw I can confirm. Waco water is the terrible.
@joelmw South Philly checking in...we drink our water with a knife and fork
@joelm we live in the mountains of Tn. and well water comes from 330' down..........absolutely tastes like heaven.
Uhh....no. I'll stick with my home filtered water that I fill in my roll-up Vapur bags..... thank you very murch..uh meh
Eh, Meh!
I hope no crawdad's were harmed in the video demo or you'll have PETA all over your asses! That is, unless you ate them afterwards, then YUM!

Brushing is still important.
@hamjudo Your well water contains fluoride?
@hamjudo
@hamjudo Buy toothpaste that has fluoride in it. Seems like a logical solution to those that buy this product or don't drink treated water.
@PhysAssist ACT
@Stumpy91 a lot of water sources naturally contain flouride
@cengland0 I"m not arguing the health benefits of chlorine. It stinks and tastes just as bad. If the water makes it to my tap germ-free, there's little reason to keep the chlorine in it from there.

@Jetlag
@jseay65 I do not crave that.

North Fart Myers...stayed with a friend...the only place where I've gagged in the shower! Phoenix water tastes like liquid dust...my fave is people who put tap ice in their expensive waters.
Perfect for trip to Europe, one color for meh and one for Momma Meha!
Cleaning the filter/mouth part of these ended my usage early. That and the fact that you can't really take big sips of water. I found taking big gulps of gross work water more satisfying than trying to use these.
@primrosewater We felt like hamsters with the ones we were given. A drop here, a drop there.
All I wanna know is...

.. who's buying these things..?
@unkabob I AM
@Talidan ... That's one...
@unkabob I did
@unkabob ugh, so much Comic Sans.
Does it work with urine?
I'm contemplating becoming involved with a private start-up planning a Mars mission on a shoestring budget, and these could be just the ticket.
@eyewerks Worth a try. Let us know what you think.
dude, these dont work after a while and are gross after a few fills
@sarahtarah do you care to elaborate? What part gets gross, the filter or the bottle? If the latter, is that due to lackadaisical cleaning practices or some other issue?
And what is wrong with Diet Dr. Pepper pray tell? Huh, huh, huh boy????
@Wormwood The current 104 y/o lady says that the secret to her longevity is drinking 3 cans of said elixir daily...
@PhysAssist Perhaps prune soda helps to keep people regular, avoiding the killer constipation. My grandmother made it to 107, and she swore by dandelion water, albeit she only consumed it once or twice a year.
@eyewerks Is Dr. P prune soda?
@Wormwood Everyone knows proper hydration comes from Mountain Dew...
@PhysAssist It is indeed! Dr. Pepper, ...so misunderstood...
Wait, why are all the sales coming from California? I didn't think they had any water these days.
@Avxyvei they've resorted to filtering and drinking their own urine, I guess. Seems resourceful.
you could have given us a 2-fer FUKU
Dishwasher safe?
How absurd.
Technically, that's 299 disposable plastic bottles we won't be throwing away like a disgusting pigs.
So you're saying this will not turn water into Diet Dr. Pepper? I prefer to hydrate with liquids that taste good. Pass.
I haven't purchased anything in a week now. Only 2 items still in shipping. My wife has stopped asking what crap did you buy now. Is this meh withdrawal?
I'm disappointed, this isn't meh enough!
I use these bottles and buy one every ~2 months for $9 so I just ordered 6 and saved $25, sweet!
Yes, they seem very practical for world travel...I plan on taking 2 to Italy. (With my grimey wipes!)
Failed TDS meter test. Meaning it won't filter anything...
@baraclue link?
@baraclue go on...
Who else, on first glance, thought this was a butt-plug or something similar?
@Pufferfishy Oh boy! It sounds like adult toys might be catching on.
@Pufferfishy For the love of Zod, just not on 2-fer days. ..
@jaremelz
@cengland0 Hey - not judging - sometimes it's fun to bring a friend!
@cengland0 kneel and accept your 2-fer Tuesday butt plug. This message brought to you by Zod for Overlord 2015.
These look pretty cool; in for a few sets with trustworthy-foolish-toothpaste.
You have established that it will filter out crayfish. (See hilarious video). I hate it when I get crayfish in my drinking water. To crunchy. What else will it filter out?
@samnrick These will filter out used condoms though the water tastes a little milkey
I'd like to buy 72 of them just to get the filters at this price, then just recycle the bottles. Hey, my recycling is done for the year!
The best water I've tasted was when I stayed in Sweden for a few weeks. Supposedly one of the cleanest in the world.
I wish they had something to filter all the shitty deals that have popped up in the last week.
how many interns died drinking the crawfish water??
Stainless steel or no deal, plastic is crap....
How good are these at protecting your precious bodily fluids?
@revloki
#5 on my list of best film comedies of all time.
No hurry to get them but I assume these are shipping out late?
@StrangerDanger most of these were shipped out, but the remaining ones will be out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
Why would you fold the huge tag in half and put it into narrow opening and let it expand inside? Can't get that out of bottle! I had to put warm water in and let it losen up the paper and wash this out

@PurplePawprints @strangerdanger huh. I didn't get an email, but noticed a $8 CC refund from Meh and was confused..
What the heck meh! I bought the green and grey and they arent the same bottle! Grey is thinner and has a grip. Green is a thicker shorter bottle.. Disappointed
Man someone really botched the whole tag inside the bottle thing... jeez.
I got the tags out, just used my fingers and forced it out. The bottles are nice but take some effort to squeeze.
Used these two or three times but mine suck. Got 6 total (3 red, 3 green) and ALL of the reds don't work right - mostly air comes out when you try to drink. I don't know about the greens yet.
