I mean, “again” is a theme here. It’s what meh does. It’s a community staple. Speaker docks, knives, BT speakers, earphones, headphones, stroopwafels, etc.
It’s part of the business model:
They’re going to buy what they can get cheap (which is often going to result in repeats).
They’re going to sell that shit until it’s gone.
Probably, much to your chagrin, people are actually buying this shit that seems to annoy you.
Also, who the fuck knows how and why their buyers make the selections they do (well, actually, there are several posts on that topic–and perhaps more illuminating ones in other mediocre forums, but, honestly, I really don’t give a fuck), but they sure as fuck seem to re-buy certain items over and over and over again.
Octo and minions probably derive some kind of sadistic pleasure from it. I’m not ashamed to admit I would.
I’m not saying it’s not okay to whine and complain about it.
But when you say “again?” and make note that “different x” is “still x”, it just sounds like --and belying your tenure and avatar–you don’t understand what the fuck happens here.
@SargassoC Me too. I even told the store they should tell apple they need to sell them. I’d even deal with an apple logo if I had to (although the ones in the store don’t have one). The design of them is seems to be just about perfect, several staff have told me their glasses don’t fog…
@SargassoC Actually thinking about it these look like Korean KF94 ones. The only difference I see visually that with the apple ones and the most common Korean ones (some have a small slit in the nose at the bridge of the nose, some are continuous across the nose) is the ear pieces are adjustable and can be used as ear loop or tied behind one’s head.
They do manufacture them themselves and claim they designed them themselves so who knows. If they designed them themselves they basically copied the Korean design, modified them slightly for a non asian face in areas that are different from the typical Korean facial features (that is the problem with some of the Chinese ones - the face size/nose area including length of the metal nose piece is designed for the typical Chinese/asian facial features and size and so many don’t fit as well on a non-asian face) for everything but the ear loops. If part of it is a licensed use that license may be what is preventing them from selling them to the public. Or they may fear if someone is wearing them and gets covid they will be sued. Who knows but if they could sell them to the public is sure is a missed opportunity.
@Joedetroit Which is to say, I’ve tried a variety of masks. I’ve managed to keep each and every kind over my nose. To be fair, I have a huge shnoz, but it’s not coated in velcro or equipped with a notch or thefuckever.
People are content to wear their masks loosely, a problem in and of itself. And some of them seem to prefer the mask slipping below their nose–maybe like those folks who like their paints to sag?
@richrauch I had the misfortune of seeing your comment again, and while I’d rather I could just block your ignorant ass: instead, I share the following observation:
Without exception to this point in my life, whenever I see someone shouting “virtue-signal” the following three conditions are met:
They’re ignorant as fuck, to the point that they rarely even understand what they’re commenting on and lecturing the rest of us about.
They’re self-important narcissists who not only don’t give a fuck about anyone outside their small circle of concern, they feel the need to belittle anyone who does. Which is not to say that they won’t sometimes protest about all of the good they do in the world. Oh, indeed, they’re bloody fucking Jesus in their own eyes. But when it comes down to it, who they actually care about is pretty goddamned narrow and ultimately it’s just themselves.
They shout “virtue-signal” because they literally have nothing better to say, but they have to say something; they have to pathetically deflect somehow. They don’t understand the science; they don’t care about the data; they don’t care about others. But they care about themselves and they care about their “right” to freedom without restraint (NB: “freedom” is a verb here; because it could possibly work as a noun) to the point that they just have to say something, even if their “something” is a great big nothing. Even in their astonishing ignorance and indifference, they feel enough of what others might call the moral weight of their callousness that they have to push back. But they’ve got nothing. Nothing except “virtue-signal”, “politically correct”, “cancel culture”, “woke”, “SJW”, etc.
Not to mention of course that while their entire excuse for an “argument” is ad hominem, if ever you strike back, they whine about personal attacks and that you’re not being civil. So before you even go there, yes, I’m attacking you personally and I don’t pretend to be civil about it. You’ve earned the right to be treated like the piece of shit that you are. No argument here: I’m treating you the way you treat others because I’m done with diseased selfish disrespectful pricks like you and I want you to know it.
We get it. You’re an asshole who cares only about you. What I don’t get is why you feel the need to broadcast it so loudly and repetitively.
And again, fuck off. Fuck you. Go fuck yourself. The only reason we care about you is that you’re a danger, and we wish life had a squelch knob so we could eliminate your incessant, unhelpful noise.
We received these today and I’m impressed. As promised, they’re cool and have a light touch on the skin. The loop adjustment mechanism is less cumbersome and looks to be at least as effective as others I’ve seen. They’re also relatively large and the loops go out to a generous length, so that all-around this has to be the most comfortable mask I’ve worn to date, with the added bonus that it covers better than many. And in a two-mask protocol, they’d work especially well as the under-layer.
I’m grateful to have these headed into summer. Good work, meh.
