I got a bag of the BBQ from Costco and they are AMAZING. Then I went back to get a second bag and they said they are not on order and won’t come back. I’m in!
Is someone on the staff trying all different kinds of keto foods and passing the ones they don’t like or something? I don’t believe in keto or paleo diets; how about some other kinds of food, if you’re going to sell food?
@Kyeh I don’t know how you cannot believe in keto or paleo without even understanding what it is. Did you know that steak is both keto and paleo? Do you avoid eating steak? What about beef jerky? Or eggs? Or chicken? Or fish? All are strong keto/paleo… However, this product is not paleo or keto. If they’re claiming it is, it’s a major stretch.
@uscpsycho I do understand what it is. I don’t believe in exclusively eating steak and protein etc. and cutting out multiple other healthy foods and putting your body into a state of ketosis. You do you - but don’t just assume I don’t understand those things. I just don’t agree with them.
@Kyeh What makes you think I follow a keto diet? I actually discourage them. But you just said “I don’t believe in keto or paleo diets; how about some other kinds of food” and I was just explaining to you that this is not at all a keto product. It is “some other kinds of food” per your request, so one can only assume you do not know what keto is. If you don’t want to be in a state of ketosis then eating this will help keep you out of it. And it should be pointed out for other users because you mischaracterized this item.
@uscpsycho Okay, fine - my original comment was just an off-hand exasperated remark about how tired I am of food items here being “high protein!” Or “sugar-free!” Or some other supposedly healthy thing. I didn’t dive into the ingredients list but I’m sure anyone into keto and paleo will do so. And pointing out eggs and steak are keto - yeah, I DO know that. And they sell so much jerky all the time!
@Kyeh@uscpsycho But, in fairness, you did a similar thing by implying that anyone who eats steak, eggs, etc, is following a keto or paleo diet, which is also a mischaracterization. You don’t need hyperbole to make your point, @Joedetroit managed to make his without it. Just sayin’.
@ircon96@Joedetroit@uscpsycho
I should have stayed out of the diet contoversy to begin with because it always gets people riled up (gluten-free, anyone?) but I was feeling kind of ornery last night.
@ircon96@Joedetroit@Kyeh I didn’t imply that anyone who eats those things is following a keto diet. He said he wasn’t interested in this food item because it was considered keto in his opinion. So if he wants nothing to do with this item just because it is keto, then it follows that he wouldn’t want anything to do with any food item that would be considered keto.
@ircon96@Joedetroit@uscpsycho Nah, you read much too much into what I (she) said.
I didn’t say that I “want nothing to do with this item just because it is keto.” I said I’m tired of all these (many) snacks that seem to be aimed at those who follow keto or paleo diets.
@ircon96@Joedetroit@Kyeh@uscpsycho I’m sick of regular foods being repackaged to tout their keto/paleo/GF/this year’s special diet bona fides along with a nice little price hike to go along with it.
@Cerridwyn I got my order in. They’re not that great. The puff itself isn’t bad, but there’s hardly any cheese. Also, the macros aren’t that great - low fat (due to the lack of cheese), but you’d have to eat the entire 5oz bag to get the same protein of a single scoop of whey. I guess they’re less ‘bad’ than a bag of Cheetos but they’re not in the same league as far as flavor and enjoyment.
Seems like the 5oz x 12 bags is a better value for your money. Plus you can just portion them into little ziplock bags. The same kinds you put the marajuanas in (I assume it’s still packaged the same like 'back in the day’s)
I remember back in the day, Gourmet WOOT used to provide food to buy that was on the website for people to actually try and like. It wasn’t outdated, it wasn’t bad it was just A company that was trying to get people to give it a try and say hey we’re not so bad. It’s something that I have missed, maybe that’s something that we’re going to start seeing?
@Cerridwyn Wait, wasn’t WCC doing the gourmet foods stuff? And now they do the wine for us over here. Can’t recall if they still do expensive foods over on the “W.”
Truth is I got some really good meat products and cheese from that site, but at prices that made most of the comments be “I can get 3 lbs of this at Sam’s Club” not realizing that “charcuterie” (i.e. salami, sausages) handmade local range-raised pork with local spices is not the same as Hormel industro-chem-meatlike products. Same with cheeses, maple syrup, etc. So many complaints it was fun for a while just to see how many stupid whines about prices.
But yeah <rant done> I do miss it because I did get to learn about a lot of new products and producers that way, some of which I still patronize separately.
@Cerridwyn@pmarin I’ve bought at regular retail some products I was introduced to by Meh’s deals. Others, I wouldn’t touch again. (Cough Neoh cough; to me, it has an aftertaste.)
So, in a way, what you described is still happening.
@hchavers@ircon96 Awesome! With this stupid heated political environment we’re living in right now, I think we could use some more Opera Man. Also more Cowbell.
Heads up! The nutrition panel posted by Meh shows 130 calories per serving. That only applies to the 5 oz bag which has 1 oz servings. The small bags have 1.5 oz servings and they have 180 calories.
I’ve never seen any Rocky movies before and I’m blown away that Eye of the Tiger isn’t until Rocky III (and that this is where I learned this information)
@lehigh I just looked up Gonna Fly Now and the theme was somewhat familiar to me but I would not have known it was specifically used as Rocky montage music, so I think you’re overestimating my knowledge of Rocky
I just received my order of 3, so 36 bags. They should get eaten by next Feb.
I was buying Hippeas from Costco but didn’t like the garlic in them. These don’t have the garlic and pretty much real ingredients so I bought them for about the same price per volume.
Taste is more pea than cheddar and more dense than I expected but they do have a good amount of protein from the peas. Not a lot of flavor compared to the oily/salty snacks but they should be a good alternative vs. fritos and potato chips.
My wife already likes them and I will once I get used to them.

Speaking of Rocky …
C’mon man, the dude is 76!
@MarkDaSpark If you really want Rocky’s body…

@MarkDaSpark @oldmantick Wow, that’s almost as scary as the abominations the bot generates!
@haydesigner
So what does it say that my body looks like his?

Is someone on the staff trying all different kinds of keto foods and passing the ones they don’t like or something? I don’t believe in keto or paleo diets; how about some other kinds of food, if you’re going to sell food?
@Kyeh they have 2 for Tuesday heads of lettuce tomorrow
I just got finished having one of these for dinner and I’d buy this sort of thing again:
But not Stroopwafels, please - I still have lots of those.
@Kyeh no worries, these are neither keto or paleo. For puff snacks, the seem to have a bit of extra protein, that’s all.
@Kyeh I don’t know how you cannot believe in keto or paleo without even understanding what it is. Did you know that steak is both keto and paleo? Do you avoid eating steak? What about beef jerky? @ircon96 @Joedetroit @Kyeh @uscpsycho
I’m not riled up
@ircon96 @Kyeh @uscpsycho I’m not riled up, you are! Hey! What’s this about GLUTEN!?
@ircon96 @Joedetroit @uscpsycho
I’ll see your gluten and raise you two Vegans!

@lisagd Nicely said!
@ircon96 @Joedetroit @Kyeh @uscpsycho
These aren’t the kind of puff that I use maaan. May come in handy after smoking 5 bowls of bubba Cush though.
Whole bunch of seed oils listed—hard pass.
Well, at least these aren’t 95% soy and chicory root like most of the other “protein” snacks on the market.
No idea if these are good or not, though.
If Iwon, Ulost?
@thechinglish My daddy always told me “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”
Just want to share that I saw Rocky III in the theater so I’ll never forget Eye of the Tiger… and neither did my JV football coach.
@lehigh Or my high school gym teacher.
Ok. Who has tried them?
@Cerridwyn I got my order in. They’re not that great. The puff itself isn’t bad, but there’s hardly any cheese. @phendrick @pmarin
Me too.
And as a result of buying cheese on old wine.woor, ended up going to a cheese festival
I think these would help me at the gym to “Pick things up, then put them down”. Said in my best Ahhhnold voice…
Woah! They don’t expire tomorrow? So what’s wrong with them?
Keto, Paleo, Want my Moneyo. Uh, no.
@hchavers A new Opera Man sketch-o?
@hchavers @ircon96 Awesome! With this stupid heated political environment we’re living in right now, I think we could use some more Opera Man. Also more Cowbell.
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
@hchavers @ircon96 Will Ferrell Cowbell GIF
@dskin1127 @hchavers Keep exploring that studio space, baby!
Expiration date??
@amysbell Feb 2024
@amysbell @troy I think we can all agree this expiration date does not meet our expectation of near-expired food in large quantities.
Frankenfoods created by extrusion in a giant factory are evil & unhealthy.
@MrNews And usually yummy!
There’s one serving in the 1.5-oz. bag, but somehow they get FIVE servings from a 5-oz. bag?
Clearly this stuff is magical! But I’m still gonna have to pass.

@lehigh I just looked up Gonna Fly Now and the theme was somewhat familiar to me but I would not have known it was specifically used as Rocky montage music, so I think you’re overestimating my knowledge of Rocky
@Ldfzm @lehigh The music in the first Rocky movie was better. They even had Meatloaf as a singer.

Protein & puff. Do those words really belong together?
@phendrick Don’t all the kids on the playground call you Protein Puff?
@yakkoTDI Naah, I ran them all off. They kept crossing on my lawn.
I’d put these in my bum
@chiefbugbung Hmm… chiefbugbung. With that name I’m guessing you’d put a lot of things in your bum.
Think I want a pack so I can be big and strong.
