2018 Pedroncelli Friends Red Case
Tasting Notes
From the fruity aromas to the lingering finish, our Friends.Red showcases the best of the blend. Aromas of dark red berries and plum. Flavors of ripe berry, warm baking spices, and toasted oak accent the taste. It is a medium-bodied harmonious wine with a round fruity finish, a touch of spice and mild tannins. Made in a ready to drink style - no aging required.
Vintage Notes
The vintage experienced a very good growing season with cooler night temperatures during harvest which allowed the grapes to mature at a slower pace, accumulating flavors and retaining acidity. 2018 is a very flavorful vintage with a high concentration of aromas and flavors.

2018 Pedroncelli Friends White Case
Tasting Notes
Very fragrant! Passion fruit and pineapple notes with a floral nose. Tropical fruit, honey, and a hint of grassiness follows and the flavors are fresh and crisp. The spicy finish is framed by mild acidity. This is a white wine to enjoy on its own or with dishes that bring on the heat like curried chicken or Thai prawn salad.
Vintage Notes
We searched for the highest quality fruit, all sourced within Sonoma County. The blend puts all the best into the bottle from our friendly neighborhood growers. The vintage brought us a wine showcasing the excellent quality, great aromatics, and balanced acidity.

About The Winery
Winery: Pedroncelli Winery & Vineyards
Owners: Pedroncelli Family
Founded: 1927
Location: Geyserville, CA
Since 1927, when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased vineyards and a small winery in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley, two elements remain unchanged: the exceptional place for the Pedroncelli family farms vineyards and the family’s dedication to making fine wines. Nine decades strong, we are still family-owned and operated. It all adds up to tradition, heritage, and a family of wines you can enjoy with confidence.
The winery and vineyards are located in Dry Creek Valley, an American Viticultural Area we helped form. Renowned as prime land for grape growing, high-quality wines are the result. The climate, where the development in ripening grapes is protected from the heat by the marine fog intrusion in the evenings, is singular and unparalleled. Pedroncelli wines are regionally focused and site-specific and we’ve learned to pair the right varietal with the best place creating a great character.
At Pedroncelli, wine is second nature to us. We love to entertain and share our stories over an easy-drinking glass of white wine. The friendships that develop are more important than the varietal or the shape of the glass. Here’s to friends!
@Jamileigh17 Hey now - have to give the Governor some credit here. The fact that I can walk into any grocery store around me and buy beer and wine now is a major improvement. The state stores have better hours and usually decent prices. It’s still time to give up the state monopoly but things have improved dramatically.
So any rat types out there? I’m not going cheap on reds, but I might buy some poolside white… Is this dry? Sweet? Somewhere in between??? Any tasting notes at all whatsoever?!?
TLDR: Do I move some batteries out of the way to make room in my fridge for some of this white wine?
@shahnm I’ve only tasted the red once, at a party where someone commented that he found it a bit sweet. The white, which I’ve bought a few times over the years, is very tasty and it smells good too, but definitely be prepared for it to be sweet. Ish. With enough acidity to balance the sugar so it’s not cloying.
@jml326 Well there are irks hidden in those, but with those most of those products I didn’t want them the first time around and don’t want them the second time around either. On the other hand some people missed them the first time so can now get it (presuming they aren’t on the other sites where they can buy it anyway), they can now buy a second one or buy more, it is one way for meh to get rid of remainders… For the daily deals I’d rather see new stuff not sold on the other sites.
@pedroncellifam@shahnm OK, I’ll grant you that. At least on the strength of the bottle of the '13 White that I’m drinking now. Very fruity, even now, I’ll concede that that could be what gives the perception of sweetness. Sweet-like. Interesting at this age, but better to drink 'em young, as intended.
Pedroncelli makes really good wine for the price… I’ve never tried this “Friends” stuff, but I’ll probably buy some tomorrow. Don’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry and all that
@Superllama7 honestly i really want to get the white and probably will, even if I’m not here when it gets here, my neighbor can take it in for me. the blend of sauv blanc and gewurtz really sounds good. the red sounds pleasant but I’m just not a big merlot fan. my mother likes it because it is smooth and pleasant. I tend to dislike it for same reasons! (in a strange twist, my mother is rarely smooth and pleasant). This is a blend which can change it a lot, which is good. (again, i haven’t tasted either of these in the deal, but know and trust the winery)
@ethelthefrog hey meh folks! consider consolidating shipments into one shipment and then shipping them with better-than-2-month delivery. yesterday I got literally 8 packages delivered by USPS in one day. from the irk-off, or whatever you call it. don’t put a ‘j’ in front of irk-off. or maybe, do. we’re at home alone anyway…
I am the only wine drinker in the home, and my friends have warned me about having an “Intervention” if I got too much wine again. But this is a decent deal, and I will drink them slow, so why n
This sounds like its nothing special more like the $4-6 750ml sweet wine from the local discount stores or $12 Carlo Rossi 3L from wallyworld. With online store pickup I’ll pass. Now if I lived miles away from civilization and wasn’t able to grind my own wine from such grape vineyard that I would have to harvest. I would definitely be thinking about getting this deal. All said doesn’t currently pertain to muh so meh no.
@Joedetroit@whomeyesu D & D & D? Dungeons and Dragons and Drunk? not that there’s anything wrong wit dat.
Seriously I know this winery but not this offering specifically. for the white, it is sauv blanc and Gewurtztraminer, neither tend to be sweet and this will definitely NOT have that lingering (horrible IMHO) sweetness of some cheap white wines. But the gewurtz would add a notable floral and and herb-y character that is sometimes perceived as “sweetness”.
i really would like to buy this but i’m about to be traveling (maybe) and nit sure where I would be when it actually ships. (2 day shipping but no idea when it would ship— this weekend or July sometime)
If the “if visibly intoxicated upon delivery, you will not be allowed to receive the wine” rule were remotely true, then I wouldn’t even be able to take delivery of a bottle of vinegar.
FWIW, neither of these are “sweet” wines. Due to the fruitiness on the palate of Friends White, it at first might appear sweet, but it is dry. Residual sugars are no where near sweet.
@MarkDaSpark@TimW so there are ads for petroleum extraction? or are you trying not to curse in public, like most sites will ban you for. i do like that this site seems to tolerate or even encourage it. but shit, I’m still uncomfortable doing it. maybe after drinkin’ a fuckin’ bottle of wine.
@MarkDaSpark@pmarin ha! I just don’t usually curse…maybe after a bottle of wine. “Fracking” comes from, I think, Battlestar Galactica? They used it quite often and the TV censors didn’t seem to mind.
Bottled? Who needs the weight, price, and the embarrassing rattling of my recycle bin? $105 gets me 7 boxes of wine that is the equivalent to 45.5 750 ml bottles. Post Covid-19 AA coming soon, hopefully.
Seriously considering this deal, really wish there was either a half case option or a mixed case option. As it is I have a half case of reds arriving today and I don’t think another case showing up on Monday would please the wife
Still sanding my ~800 s.f. deck for staining…on my knees with a belt-sander. My wife doesn’t think we’ll open the pool this year…I’m confident; bought a case of pool style white.
@Trinityscrew I thought about it, but the boards are uneven and even though I started the process by setting nails, I’m still finding another one every square foot or so. SWMBO suggested going with composite, but noooo… “I can handle this”… Sometimes one starts a horrible project, but you’ve just gotta suck it up and power through. Fortunately I have plenty of wine.
This has been a go-to everyday red here for a while now at a few bucks more per bottle. The label implies “cheap wine for the millennials” but it’s a really well-put together blend. Haven’t tried the white but giving it a shot also.
Pedroncelli makes some damn fine wine, typically a great value. This is at least as good as any Kirkland or Chuck wine at a similar price. Much better than that box or gallon stuff. But if you want sweet & syrupy, this ain’t it.

I just got a Meh cancel email due to “inventory issues” but I have no idea what order it’s for! Was it for this wine I ordered last hour? Or something I ordered weeks ago which hasn’t been shipped (not an unusual experience). Order status doesn’t show it cancelled yet, so maybe OK. Wish the email told me what item was cancelled.
@embedit …mine turned out to be some other bluetooth item canceled from the Mehrathon, but for some reason I always call it the irk-off. leading (j) optional.
@nikocbr Hating on twist offs shows your lack of wine sophistication (hint: they are fine, no potential for corkage, and are here to stay), but then you mention South Africa.
What are you on? These grapes are from California at worst, and a Sonoma County at best. Not to mention liking your own comment is uncouth.
@nikocbr someone as a joke posted a photo of a totally different wine from halfway around the world, because it mentioned cheeseburger, probably in relation to a previous post that mentioned Big Mac.
Ya gotta keep up with current events, dude/dudette!
btw screw-caps rule! when Randall Graham of Bonny Doon vineyards first moved to the caps, he intentionally put it on his most expensive wine first to make a statement.
@KNmeh7@nikocbr wait, i can like my own comment? well they say self-love is important in stressful times, and narcissism is trending too; i’ll try liking my comment. honestly never occurred to me to do that.
EDIT holy crap it worked. I like myself and must be very smart. Yay Me!
@KNmeh7 I obviously forgot to replace my contacts. Now… fine wine?? Hmmm you do realized it’s being discounted through whole seller cause it don’t sell.
@tjamaco if you reach out to them they’ll nearly always help you out. I’ve had hot shipped wine from them before (through Casemates) and they replaced or helped me out no problem. CS is top notch.
@tjamaco yeah that does happen but I have been fortunate. the summer shipping often doesn’t kick in soon enough for some areas.
but your across-the-board rejection of purchasing more wine is like someone saying: I had a girlfriend/wife and it didn’t work out so not gonna do that again ever.
oh wait that’s actually my current status. never mind
Very disappointed with MEH customer service. It took 2 weeks to contact me re: a shipping address error and then their answer was, hey, it’s too late. Sorry. I didn’t know MEH was also a description of their customer service.
I jumped on this because it’s Pedroncelli at a great price, but it’s a pretty disappointing wine: thin and tannic. It’s a good thing it doesn’t have Pedroncelli’s name plastered across the front label. Bottom line: you get what you pay for. It’s not a deal.
They showed up today,the white is nice. A bit thin, a sweet nose, and not overly tart, but while light, a nice balance. Haven’t tried the red I also ordered (that’s waiting til Friday’s burgers), but definitely planning to aerate.
Verdict on the red-Smooth, not very tannic. A nice, middle of the road red. It wouldn’t be out of place at any BBQ joint as a house wine. Would order both again, especially for this price point.
Picked up my case of red today. Nearly half of the closures are expanded which I’ve never encountered on a Stelvin. I guess the question is - considering the wines have certainly expanded in travel, what’s the likelihood that they ingested air and are now garbage

I thought casemates was for this.
Casemates is for wine. Stop selling it on meh. Some of us live in ass backward states and can only buy wine from liquor stores
@RdiPr if your state is more backassward than PA, I feel sad for you.
@Jamileigh17 Hey now - have to give the Governor some credit here. The fact that I can walk into any grocery store around me and buy beer and wine now is a major improvement. The state stores have better hours and usually decent prices. It’s still time to give up the state monopoly but things have improved dramatically.
you’re an all-star
@RdiPr NH has the same law. So annoying
meh.
no bluetooth.
@alacrity maybe you do after it stays in your mouth long enough
@hchavers it’s wine- that’s not what it does.
now, if a lot of it starts hangin’ out near my liver- that’s a possibility.
@alacrity @hchavers If you drink enough, something will turn blue, but probably not your tooth.
Meh will be selling 10lb bags of pasta next.
I guess casemates isn’t doing too well that they have to pawn the wine on meh?
@katsuronishi LOL. Nope, doing fine. I’m sure it’s just trying to remind people there are other sections of MEH. You know, like when shirts show up?
Yeah ok. Ima buy some wnie. Prolly helps im drunk already.
laujiWERKftgbiklERFGbk
@shahnm I’m gonna buy some too. I’m prolly drunk already too
@shahnm Foster, is that you?
@hchavers hic*
@hchavers @shahnm Nah, I think it was Crazy Guggenheim (or maybe Otis).
So is casemates selling a speaker dock today?
@rmeden No one will stop you from plugging your phone into whatever Casemates is selling today. Please report your results.
So any rat types out there? I’m not going cheap on reds, but I might buy some poolside white… Is this dry? Sweet? Somewhere in between??? Any tasting notes at all whatsoever?!?

@jml326 @shahnm Oh great so now meh isn’t just the garbage dump for morningsave, it’s the dumping ground for casemates too?
@Kidsandliz you must hate Meh offs.
@Kidsandliz ok so one of these is a new offer right? And one is recycled. So best of both worlds.
@jml326 there’s a wine site for that.
@jml326 @Kidsandliz Hey, everybody jumps on the T-shirts when they have them here, even though there is a site for that too.
@Kidsandliz I’ll argue that Morning save, and Side deal are dumping grounds for what we don’t buy on Meh. They did follow in Meh footsteps
@InFrom @shahnm it’s fruity and bright. Barely over the threshold of sweetness for most. About 1/2% RS (maybe .08).
@pedroncellifam @shahnm OK, I’ll grant you that. At least on the strength of the bottle of the '13 White that I’m drinking now. Very fruity, even now, I’ll concede that that could be what gives the perception of sweetness. Sweet-like. Interesting at this age, but better to drink 'em young, as intended.

Do we have any Lab rat reviews on this?
@connorbush find the white here
. https://casemates.com/forum/topics/pedroncelli-ros-and-friends-white-blend
At least Pitney Bowes won’t be shipping it.
@ethelthefrog man that has been a disaster. think there’s some Apil orders I never got yet.
@ethelthefrog @pmarin 2 days ago I got 4 packages from the mehrathon, still 6 more I’m waiting on.
I have never regretted any Pedroncelli impulse buy… But still, I’d like some sense of what kinda taste profile we’re looking at here…
@shahnm The tasting notes are pretty accurate.
Big meh from Utah. Keep your wine elsewhere as I need the State or a private jet to get it here.
@openwater As long as you keep your Romney in Utah…
@openwater @shahnm. Seconded!
@openwater @shahnm
Send Romney to Missouri. We have a Temple too. He’s orders of magnitude better than that sycophant Blunt and showboat-whore Hawley.
@mike808 Never thought we’d see the day when we’re actually cheering for Romney.
@cinoclav @mike808 & Murkowski now, apparently!
@mike808 @pmarin Too little too late. She’s done plenty of damage. Unless she starts walking the walk she’s useless.
I bringing it to the company picnic. Which is me in my office alone this year.
@cmerino I might show up.
@cmerino I’ll be there.
I am the only wine drinker in the home, and my friends have warned me about having an “Intervention” if I got too much wine again. But this is a decent deal, and I will drink them slow, so why n
@hchavers This is a “friend” typing on his behalf as he recovers. Good thing we stopped by.
This sounds like its nothing special more like the $4-6 750ml sweet wine from the local discount stores or $12 Carlo Rossi 3L from wallyworld. With online store pickup I’ll pass. @whomeyesu. Your loss, because these aren’t your parents’ White Zinfandel!
Neither of them are sweet.
@whomeyesu back in my drinkin days I preferred the 4L Carlo Rossi, the Rhine was my fav. My D&D friends called it the Never Ending Bottle of Wine.
@Joedetroit @whomeyesu D & D & D? Dungeons and Dragons and Drunk? not that there’s anything wrong wit dat.

@ShotgunX If there is an upside to COVID, it’s that all of my wine purchases no longer require me to be home, let alone a signature.
FWIW, neither of these are “sweet” wines. Due to the fruitiness on the palate of Friends White, it at first might appear sweet, but it is dry. Residual sugars are no where near sweet.

@MarkDaSpark there are so many fracking ads on that site that’s hard to read it!
@MarkDaSpark @TimW so there are ads for petroleum extraction? or are you trying not to curse in public, like most sites will ban you for. i do like that this site seems to tolerate or even encourage it. but shit, I’m still uncomfortable doing it. maybe after drinkin’ a fuckin’ bottle of wine.

@MarkDaSpark On computer, that site is perfectly readable, but from my phone there was literally an ad after every paragraph.
@pmarin @TimW. Yes, fracking was used on the new BSG (don’t remember if it was on the old show, but maybe).
I used my tablet, and didn’t see any ad issues, but sorry you had them on your phone!
@pmarin @TimW
Huh, it was on old show as “Frack”, new show changed it to be a four letter word, “Frak”!
Link is Wikipedia, so it should be safe!

Order away!
@MrMikenIkes. Seconded on the mixed case!
Is this compatible with a Mac?
@andrewkl Maybe with a big mac.

Still sanding my ~800 s.f. deck for staining…on my knees with a belt-sander. My wife doesn’t think we’ll open the pool this year…I’m confident; bought a case of pool style white.
@FritzCat You might need to drink it while you are sanding… well if it arrives before fall that is.
@Kidsandliz Ye of little faith!
@FritzCat My faith is not in Pitney Bumble (grin).
@FritzCat Rent this:
@FritzCat @Kidsandliz More like Pitney Blowes!
@FritzCat @Trinityscrew Yeah that is so right. Better than my change to their name.
@Trinityscrew I thought about it, but the boards are uneven and even though I started the process by setting nails, I’m still finding another one every square foot or so. I agree with Irk, need the wine to make it through the Olympics.
i couldn’t resist any longer, for a case of the white. sauv blanc & gewurtz two of my favorite. unusual in a blend so will be nice to experience.

The rose and the white are both house favorites - and perfect for summer.
$8.25 for a twist off wine made in South Africa.
Girl bye!
@nikocbr Pretty clearly states it’s sonoma grapes and made by Pedroncelli - so I’m not sure where you get south africa from.

I got sidetracked and almost forgot to come back to buy.
But I didn’t…

What’s the point of two day delivery when ups misses the connection?
@jaybird because I complained, I have to follow up. UPS was able to make the delivery on time after all.
