@narfcake@werehatrack Well dang! I bin a lookin’ fer sum at ar’ ware harness smoke. My ware harnesses is plumb out, but I have a Amurican truk, witch has a negatory ground. Y’all think I kin a keep a drivin’?
I dun a tune up not tew long ago. I changed tha piston springs, tha muffler bearings, tha hood bluger, the canooter valve, and rotated tha wiper blades. I hosed hit down wif foamy engine grease fer gud measure. Hit runs gud! Butt fer tha life a me, I cain’t find no ware harness smoke nor blinker fluid, none neither.
Must be sum kind of liberal cornspiracy, dontchaknowed?
@narfcake@werehatrack I have lots of electronics that had the smoke leak out. Will the Lucas wire harness smoke put the smoke back in so they will work again?
Do they sell it for negative earthing, or do I need to put some negative resistors in series with the smoke?
@mexicantacos All things are meh. Accepting this is part of the path to enlightenment. A path which is now illuminated by solar rechargables, making these AA batteries even more meh.
@Pufferfishy Yes. And if you ask again, someone will submit your address over at BatteryDrop, and you’ll wake up one morning to find a pallet of cases of Lucas AA cells on your doorstep, along with irate notes from seven porch pirates who were appalled at what they had just grabbed - and returned after opening.
@werehatrack Hey, that domain is available for the low price of $2000 … sounds like there’s a business opportunity laying on the table for anybody who wants to get into that sort of thing.
Believe it or not, when I was a kid, the Eveready flagship brand was easily the most popular brand of battery in the U.S. Duracell existed but was not prominent, and Eveready had not yet introduced their Energizer brand.
Former buyers-- are these any good? The best I saw above is that they’re better than Lucas(!) I get chills (not the good kind) when I think about Lucas batteries.
Are these as good as “{Your favorite brand of AA batteries that don’t leak}”?
@WaltC There are several tests out there which have them close to equivalent to Amazon basics in performance. In terms of bang for the buck, they’re considered pretty good at this price point. They won’t last as long as a real Energizer, but for a fraction of the cost, they’re still decent.
Honey, that doesn’t sound like a real site at all.
Why would anyone ever get the impression that this is a RealSite™? I mean, yeah, just the fact that it sells stuff might give that impression, but they don’t make anywhere near enough outrageous claims for the ultra-uber-fabulous-ness of the crap to qualify as a RealSite. Usually. Maybe. Pay no attention to those other links down at the bottom of the page.

That’s not acid, the alkaline batteries are full of potassium hydroxide, which reacts with air immediately. The oxidation result generally doesn’t do much to skin. On the other hand, unreacted potassium hydroxide is extra super nasty until it finishes reacting, so handling a damaged cell with extreme caution is very wise. There is also a manganese compound in there, but it’s not all that much of a hazard. Unless, of course, you eat the battery. And then you’ve got bigger problems.
@werehatrack Awesome, thank you. I never gave enough thought to them being called alkaline batteries. I don’t know how fresh the potassium hydroxide was, we flushed my wife’s hands immediately. I’m pretty sure I would have heard if there were any lasting effects.
And I haven’t been hungry enough to start snacking on these, so I have so far avoided the bigger problems!

@Jackinga @werehatrack Two words: turbo encabulator.
@werehatrack Having no batteries is better than Lucas batteries

Do they sell it for negative earthing, or do I need to put some negative resistors in series with the smoke?
@G1 @werehatrack Alas, it’s only for positive ground wire harnesses. No replacement smoke is available for any other electronic bits.
I wouldn’t attempt using this anyway unless you have a full arsenal of Whitworth

I always want to buy these, no matter how many I already have. I guess I’m addicted to POWER!
Perfect for the new Mercedes AA Class
I’m holding out for a pack of Mehnergizers.
Batteries to power can we readily ever have enough!
“Eveready” ?
Who is Eve?
And why does she need that many batteries?
@formfeed
Bob.
@formfeed Adam
@annecat @formfeed Eve doesn’t use that name anymore. She’s Eve now.
@formfeed, then again, who is Eady & what’s he Ever for?
I have a confession to make. I click the meh button even when I buy the thing. I am what’s wrong with the world. AMA.

No room in my fridge.
No batteries can I buy.
Refrigerator.
Is this site incapable of offering battery packages that aren’t insanely huge?
@Pufferfishy Yes. And if you ask again, someone will submit your address over at BatteryDrop, and you’ll wake up one morning to find a pallet of cases of Lucas AA cells on your doorstep, along with irate notes from seven porch pirates who were appalled at what they had just grabbed - and returned after opening.
Next question?
HAHAHAHAHA

Need rechargable.

I bought these last time… Still have and theyre reaaaly weak
Well, bummer.
My wife opened the package and got battery acid on herself. She doesn’t like that.
Delayed regret.
