@ryanwojda I get distance only prescription sunglasses at Goggles4u for under $15 delivered. I have some expensive designer shades that the State of Texas decided I can’t wear for driving even though my optometrist disagrees. Wonder if I can bring them a note? I miss my Gargoyles and RayBans.
@mike808 Dearest Metizen, I seek your attention this evening in that the picture you posted is a rather headache-inducing image. I respectfully ask that you refrain from posting potential seizure risk pictures in the future. Cheers!
@mike808 Ha, good joke… Why would you ask for someone to purposely look for that other post? What is wrong with you?
I’m very serious about what I asked of you, i was busy with grad school work late last night and had to stop after your post made me feel nauseous. I’m not usually prone to sensitivity to these things, so that it had an effect on me makes me worry about other people. Thanks in advance for being considerate of this in the future.
@inanna I’m no expert, but the last time I checked, “nauseated” is a verb. The use of the verb “feel” would typically be followed by an adjective, like the word “nauseous.” I believe the above usage from our grad school friend is appropriate.
@placeholder and yet you’re so serious about your own discomfort and so concerned for others that you’re going to only do a half-assed job of demanding action of others out of pity for your self-described condition, comment twice on one post, but not at all on another, one with arguably more blink-inducing nauseation.
I didn’t direct your attention to the other post as a joke, but to make you aware of your need to be consistent in expressing your moral outrage at stuff people post on the internet.
So much for your fee fees, grad student snowflake.
Perhaps just not visiting the forums of meh entirely would be your best course of action to avoid potential nauseousness in the future. Or go for the Darwin Award and stare away.
In the big picture, I’m confident in my conclusion that the 7.5 billion people of this world do not await, with bated breath, the elucidation of your dissertation and its immeasurably insignificant contribution to our common body of knowledge.
Just because you didn’t pay tuition doesn’t mean you won’t get schooled.
@Kenbo not when said grad student clearly used the past tense (finite form), in that it “made” him feel that way. Thus, the proper form is also of the past tense, and should have been “nauseated”, not “nauseous”.
As in “makes me feel nauseous”, compared to “made me feel nauseated”.
@mike808 Mike, all I was asking was for you to be aware of others and to think about pictures before you post. I realize that you had probably not thought that much about the picture before you posted, so my words were from a place of mutual respect. I think that Meh generally brings together people of good character, so I give you and everyone else the benefit of the doubt.
I appreciate you pointing out the other issues on the forums, but it is not my job to police said forums and comment on everything that I have an issue with, nor will I be someone’s ‘good dog’ and go chase something when someone tells me to go do it. I commented on yours because yours had the described effect on me.
Finally, to the whole debate on ‘nauseous’, it is an example of language evolving in that the way that I used it is much more commonplace these days than the alternative. It’s correct that I did not use the ‘purist’ form and I’ll admit to my mistake. Nevertheless, here is a good read on the history of its use, including that it may not be entirely incorrect based on historical accounts: http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-nau1.htm
Please, take a breath and have respect for others. Your attack was neither warranted nor necessary.
@placeholder I’m asking in all seriousness, not to be a jerk, but how hard is it to just scroll past the image? I know a lot of times I’ll be reading a news story or something and embedded in the story is an image that’s either not work appropriate when I’m at work, or just generally offends my taste in some way. I just keep scrolling until the image is gone and continue to enjoy the rest of whatever I was reading. It’s never crossed my mind to ask such images not be embedded, as I can only assume some people get value from them or they wouldn’t have put them there in the first place.
Maybe mike808 didn’t need to go on the offensive there, but I think it’s a fairly common reaction to someone asking for others to mold the world to their liking. Not to say that should never happen, some things are definitely unjust in the world, and we would all benefit from listening to what other’s are put off by. However, the ability to just scroll right on past the image, I think, favors mike808’s position (pending good reason from you as to why that’s not really a good solution.)
Probably the biggest issue one would take with your position was the claim that you were busy with grad school work and the post made you stop. I’m no detective, but that sounds to me like you were having trouble conjuring motivation to do your work, so you swung by meh, saw the image, and continued to have trouble conjuring motivation to do your work. Then you blame someone else for your inability to finish your work, when finishing your work probably wasn’t on the agenda for the evening anyway due to motivation issues unrelated to the post. Really, if you’re generally not sensitive to those things, but this one got to you during a late night work session in which you took a time out to visit meh.com, my guess is you were already pretty exhausted mentally. Again, a ton of speculation in this paragraph, and you’ll likely be snapped into a defensive position reading over it. So I understand if I get attacked. I’m used to it here after my distracted driving comments before :|
@placeholder You have no sympathy from me in the future of your plight from viewing nauseous images on the internet. I arrived at this decision since you expect such sympathy only from me, and demand such from no others.
The fact that others like you attempt to legitimize ignorance and characterize proper, factual usage as “alternate”, essentially demeans the established consensus, and falsely elevates your personal or individual outlier view to equal footing when they are clearly not.
As a grad student making the case for your dissertation, you should very well know that your argumentum ad populem doesn’t pass basic due diligence. You should probably quit digging, Watson.
@placeholder The problem isn’t with the definition, its with the grammar/tense. Nauseous and nauseated are two different tenses/forms. See how far your justification of “lots of other ignorant people do it” takes you in your dissertation and jury review.
If you don’t care to write cogently for the reader, why should the reader care to read what you have to say?
@mike808 Cool image. Made my eyes “vibrate” which was a unique sensation. I like it. I respectfully request that you post it more often so I can continue avoiding work.
@sp3ar Grad student was up late studying, asked for frog picture to be removed bc their life is hard and it made them “nauseous”, it was pointed out that grad student should have used the word “nauseated”, someone disagreed, person who posted frog picture not sympathetic to grad studen’s apparent plight of experiencing pictures that make them “nauseous”, the question of simply scrolling past the picture was raised, I think that’s it
Seemed like a respectful original request to me. No one has to agree or acquiesce, but I don’t understand the unkind and vitriolic response. Is this the world we live in now? Think about it, people.
@mike808 I get your point that if I’m going to point something out in one place, I should treat others equally. As I already said, I’m not really going to go looking through the forums specifically for it, though, that would be a tremendous waste of time and energy (kinda like this argument, no?).
If it’s not clear why i asked if it was “joke”, that was a strong sarcastic response because you shouldn’t tell someone who just had a bad physical reaction to one image to go look at one 10x worse. After all, you don’t cool down your mouth after eating hot wings with some ghost pepper sauce, do you? That was my biggest complaint before you told me indirectly to go kill myself (“go for the Darwin Award”).
@westownsend No offense taken, I understand that sometimes certain assumptions have to be made. To your point, I do work hard so I can give myself short breaks to stretch or otherwise clear my mind when equations start to become jumbled together. I came on Meh around midnight just like everyone else does - to see if any good deals were posted. I was curious about people’s reactions to the super-cheap sunglasses, so I detoured onto the forum.
The assumption that I could just scroll right on by does not take into account that I did just scroll through; however, I nevertheless experienced a physical reflex reaction despite having not significant spent any time on the image itself. If you go back to my original comment, please note that I made a request because, though my own experience, I was more concerned for others that might have worse reactions than I did.
@boc Damn it! I would also have accepted the “@boc” as saying your name. Also, I forgot the “personal jinx” part, so my jinx clearly had no legal standing. So, do I buy you a coke or what?
In for 20…I like having backups to my backups (not too much is shittier than taking a 4+ hour drive on sunny day with no shades) and my wife needs some - I think I see some girly styles.
@njd Not 100% sure, but if you look closely at the pictures, they all seem to have stickers that say “Maximum UV Protection.” Implies UVA and UVB but who knows?
I wear prescription sunglasses for driving but having a few pairs of disposable ones for non-driving situations might come in handy. I’ll find out because I couldn’t resist ordering.
Since meh has it backwards on 2 for Tuesday I had to purchase 2 on 10 for Tuesday. Now what I’m I going to do with 20 cheap sunglasses is a different story. Hopefully Gishwhes will have a sunglass challenge
I couldn’t resist. Ordered two sets and canceled the first order of one set. I just hope that none of them have nose pieces. Those get tangled in my curly hair.
Grew up blind as a bat and couldn’t afford prescription sunglasses. Dorky clip-ons were my only option. So now, post-Lasix, I am a sunglasses whore. Totally in.
oh, so once again I am behind times. that’s ok, i was ahead of times for a few decades.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking of growing my own weed, even though I have not not smoked any in like umm… two, maybe even three decades.
And one site says I need special glasses to look at my weed. they are now growing weed with led’s.
oh man…it’s terrible when you are in pain, and it’s been so long that ‘good mexican’ was a thing. And the middle-schoolers have more connections than me.
In for twenty - might seem like hoarding, but that’s two pair for everyone that lives here (self, spouse, two semi-adult children), 2 for the adult daughter if she wants them, and a full set of two spares for everyone. At the rate that sunglasses get lost or broken around here that might only be a year’s supply…
I look forward to taking the (fingers-crossed) two pairs that don’t accentuate my misshapen head and throwing the other eight in the breakroom or putting them on random mannequins at the mall. Because if you’re a mannequin that was manufactured with a head, you’re cool and deserve sunglasses; if you’re one of those headless mannequins, sorry for your bad luck.
Before the 99 Cent Only chain was sold to vulture capitalists and turned into cookie cutter crap selling mostly junk MADE for 99 cent stores, they used to have sunglass deals for a buck a pair that included decent styles and quality and polarized lenses I have a big box of those.
@KwadGuy Oh, how I miss that chain. We would drive from Northern IL to a Milwaukee suburb just to shop there (I mean, we did other stuff while we were out and about, but still).
Oh the irony. I bought two pairs for this season just yesterday. Still, I am super picky about my sunglasses so this deal would still go undealt had I not bought new shades yesterday.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the local Dollartrees sell these for the same price (OK, technically 9% more due to sales tax… yeah Alabama…) I would have to consider this deal. As it is I can pick them up at said store and get to choose the style and color I want. I buy them 5-6 at a time for when I lose one in the surf at the beach, sit on one on the car seat, drop a pair while on the riding mower etc. I find I have gotten much better about wearing them around when I am outside since I started getting them cheap, so they double as safety glasses when I use the weedeater etc. I also pretty much don’t get in the pool without a pair on and the salt water eventually rusts the hinges…
If you don’t have access locally I would highly recommend the concept of cheap sunglasses.
Now if you were selling cheap, analog, water resistant watches… I’d be all over that!
I must be in the minority in that I buy expensive sunglasses, and take excellent care of them. Besides, I have a face that just doesn’t play well with most frames and I go to great pains to find a pair that looks right AND provides the protection I want.
I have a pair of Maui Jim Katana’s that I absolutely love. Very lightweight, damn near unbreakable and UV/polarized lenses. Purchased in 2012 and they still look like new. I was actually at Sunglass Hut this weekend and the sales girl agreed the set I had were more flattering than any of the newer styles I tried on.
@ACraigL i have the same problem - i didn’t wear sunglasses for most of my life because i could never find a pair that fit right, worked right, and looked right. that said, i still don’t buy expensive sunglasses. bought a pair at kohl’s in 2006 for $10 (although i guess that might be expensive to some), still my go to pair.
@ACraigL I had a friend that worked at sunglass hut back in college. I saved up and bought a nice pair from him but they got a nice set of tiny cracks in the lenses walking into Sam’s going from the hot sun to that blower that keeps the flies out of the store.
Years later, that friend had passed away, and I decided I wanted a pair of Revo Pythons like he used to have, but they were discontinued. Stalked them on eBay and finally snagged a pair. The first weekend I had them, I wore them to the drag strip and then stupidly put them over the brim of my hat after dark. I went to help a friend with a tire, and when I put my head down, they slid off and hit the pavement, chipping a lens.
I’ve decided expensive sunglasses and I don’t get along very well. They are very nice, flattering if you get the right style, but if you are clumsy about taking care of them the cheapo ones work out to a better deal.
Of course buy from meh first because meh is great. But, if you don’t, deal genius had 12 for $19 recently and still might (shipping included which makes them per pair cheaper when you add in $5 meh shipping).
They were uv protected AND polarized and you knew what styles you were getting. (Metal looking plastic frames… I bought them, pretty good for the price).
Don’t want to steer people away from meh, but if you want cheap glasses and these don’t fit your need, check them out.
this is a ‘meh’ from me, but only because i already have a bag of assorted sunglasses. (a friend of a friend got them to me after my partner and i lost all our stuff and it was probably one of the most helpful things we were offered/given at that time. plus i got a pair of hello kitty sunglasses in that bag which are the best.)
anyway, i really liked the writeup and the meh button
The only problems with these are that 1) when I buy sunglasses, it’s almost always because I forgot my sunglasses, 2) I have forsaken contact lenses, 3) my head width exceeds the average head these are made for.
@DrSayre@mike808 We support a wide variety of regret plans. I myself prefer to have instant regret as well as lingering regret, but it’s a personal choice for everyone how they will regret their purchase.
I thought my wife would have a good laugh at this one. Her response was "that would be good to get actually."
Now she can’t claim all of her sunglasses are lost.
Well… at least until these are all lost or broken I guess.
I need 10 boots for $10 so I can kick myself in the ass for not clicking on meh.com Tuesday! I work with a group that gives away items to the homeless once a month and in Phoenix, sunglasses are a highly requested item. Grrrr. http://foryouto.tk/
@jml326 You are so nice! We aren’t a 5013 and don’t have any officers (or an office!), so I have all the items shipped to my place for monthly distribution. Best way to (more or less privately!?) get that info to you???
If you both have woot accounts, you can send pms there. Or you might set up a separate email account that you can post here in the forum.
If you ask customer service extra nicely, (and since it’s for charity,) they may be able to send an order to @smkarizona and charge it to @jml326.
Got my glasses today. Think the ones at the dollar store were at least as good. It’s pretty blurry looking through these (same for all of them – not that random, I guess – and all the same brand – I guess I should have expected that). It’s blurrier with the glasses than without, so not just my eyes. I don’t think I should drive with these. Guess I have some for lawn mowing – hope my dog doesn’t cross my path.
Hoped that if truly random, a pair or two out of 10 might be polarized, but no joy.
Received today, lots of dups but that’s ok. There are several in the two lots that I like and more that I will toss in the car for those times when I don’t have another pair. Will give the others away, for $10 for 10 I’m not disappointed and would take the chance again.
I got mine today. Only one duplicate set. But one had an arm broken at the frame, another had a cracked lens, a third had a big scratch down most of one of the lenses and three more had smaller scratches on one or both lenses. A bit disappointing but I’m hopefully that customer service can help.
I am not sure I have a UV-B source to test with, but, my totally non scientific tests indicate these block at least as much as my $10 panama jacks that were on sale for $5 that rang up as $1.
I bought these and they will work for lake day when you expect to lose them in the lake…barely. My last purchase of the Pirana glasses yielded much better results.
90% of my glasses arrive too scratched to use. Extreme lens scratching issues. I wonder if this happened in transit or if they left meh hq in such condition?
A couple of my twenty had scratches and quite a few looked dirty and had something sticky on them. I was going to post pics, but it seems like this was a common issue and mine are not an anomaly. I should have kept my original order of ten (well, if I’m being honest, I shouldn’t have ordered them at all.)
Got my 30 pairs with no duplicates (which really surprised me). Some metal frames, but mostly plastic. One pair had dirty fingerprints and one pair had a very tight stem screw. All came in plastic bags and I haven’t found any scratches. Whew. There’s about a dozen pair I’ll keep. The rest will be given to friends and family. Maybe even strangers. Who knows? For $1 a pair, I have zero regrets. Thanks, Meh!
@nycrelady What did the letter say? My experience with Meh CS has been nothing short of responsive and professional (or at least informal but efficient). Surprised you had that happen.
@nycrelady Any chance you could post the letter here? You’ve piqued my curiosity. I’ve found cs here to be slower than I’d like, but always very helpful and friendly- even when the problem was my fault.
I’m not going to post their letter in case they’d like to keep that private but to summarize, they were disappointed in the quality and found it hard to believe any retailer would charge $10 for these ten pairs of sunglasses. Here’s our initial reply:
Hey now! To be fair, they were only $1 each. Seriously though, I’m
sorry to hear that some of the sunglasses didn’t meet your
expectations. Anything with “random” in the description leaves room
for risk and its a bummer you were let down.
It’s worth noting they hadn’t mentioned the scratches in that first email. We emailed back and forth a couple more times and ended up suggesting she could send them back to us for a refund.
@dave I’d suggest that having a customer service exchange on a public forum, with an identifiable customer, is generally not a good idea - even if what they posted is actually incorrect. Instead just post to have them contact you (and contact you again if they already did so once) after the post you disagree with/isn’t fair/contains incorrect information/etc. so that the situation can be discussed and then hopefully resolved… @snapster
On a different note there are enough complaints of busted and really scratched/cracked sunglasses so far that I would expect some (in my mind justifiable) discontent. Likely someone should have gone through them and set aside the trashed ones for a fuko. When you pay actual money for a specific product, then one expects an undamaged (unless you disclose in advance there may be scratches or whatever), working product that is not missing parts.
And just for the record, so far I have never had any issues with customer service.
@medz My point was that employees - I was not referring to other customers - shouldn’t fight a customer service war in public… customers on the other hand can do what they want.
@medz But not professional and meh does behave professionally for all its other, um, “idiosyncratic” (grin) behavior. @KDemo transparency is a separate issue. And I agree it is nice to see transparency.
@dave I would hope meh would reimburse the postage too since they are being justifiably returned for being defective or, even better, since this a just a small amount of money, just refund the person the entire $15 and tell them to just toss them. Be worth it for customer satisfaction.
@sammydog01 Unless I missed sarcasm (grin), is there a problem with that?
While one does not expect quality items on meh (or at least not new quality items - typically refurbished if they are) nor speed in shipping, one also does not expect to be sent, outside of a fuko, broken or damaged items and then be told tough luck. And usually they tell us if things are not going to arrive looking new. That they don’t accept buyers remorse and thus returns for that reason, I have no problem - plenty of retailers do that, especially with clearance items. And they are clear about that (and the slow shipping).
And in fact, in my limited experience, meh does not behave unprofessionally with the transactions/resolving problems. The two problems I have had (broken specific item purchase, empty fuko box due to failure to adequately tape the box shut) meh has behaved (although more slowly) exactly like a credible, professional retailer. I see no contradiction in selling 2-3 star or less/and or refurbished items cheaply and good customer service. Other than speed, their customer service is not meh.
In fact most of us wouldn’t risk buying from them if they didn’t have decent customer service since the risk is higher with how crappy they pack many things they ship. And of course there is the inherent higher risk in buying something refurbished that might not be “refurbished enough”. They make good in those two situations (outside of a fuko where the rules of that purchase are that you are gambling you’d even remotely get your money’s worth).
@Kidsandliz The problem is that some retailers are placating customers and causing widespread fraud. (Looking at you Amazon.). Getting credits for trivial things has now become a game. Changed your mind? Don’t like the product? Claim a quality issue and get a full refund with free shipping and maybe get to keep it too. Do you think Bezos writes a personal check any time someone pulls that crap? Nope, we all pay for it in higher costs.
This customer didn’t mention the scratches until being denied a refund. Maybe a mistake, maybe they escalated when they didn’t get their way.
Keep on keeping the costs down, Meh. The customer is not always right. Except me.
By the way, these sunglasses did totally suck balls.
@sammydog01 I get your point but with a handful of people bitching about undisclosed damage to more than one in the set, this is also meh’s fault. They should have stated in the description that many were damaged, if you don’t like gambling then don’t buy as the odds were high you wouldn’t get even 7 of them in decent shape. Either that or sort them prior to selling.
@Kidsandliz There were shipped by the standard Mediocre “toss it in a box” method and were probably damaged in transit. I really doubt they shipped something they knew was defective.
@Kidsandliz For the record, I’m totally in agreement with you. CS battles in a public forum are not a good thing. Sending defective merch and telling a customer “bummer, it was only a buck each” was a poor CS choice.
And most of all… when a customer makes a purchase, they have every right to believe they’ll receive the item in good working order (unless otherwise disclosed).
@sammydog01, I’m curious about the chronology of your posts in this thread? Had you already received your “total waste of twenty bucks” order before you replied to @kidsandliz in this thread?
I’m as much a Meh fan as anyone here. But I stop short of the “Meh can do no wrong” fanbois. They can, and often enough do stuff that makes me SMH. Some of the products sold are complete and total junk and should never have made it into the daily sale, or at least with the “this is total crap” disclaimer they sometimes include (for example the car dashcam was a total POS and I paid $28 for two of them; not worth five bucks).
@ruouttaurmind I had already received them. I had about a 20% defect rate- I should probably send in a complaint but I don’t want to bother. The overall quality I guess is in line with the price- I was just hoping it would be better. I’m keeping them for emergency use.
I hope you noticed that the first email from the unhappy customer didn’t mention defects according to Dave. They offered a refund after they knew about the scratches (and personally I think it’s suspicious that they didn’t mention damage at first). I agree that defective merchandise needs to be refunded but I don’t have a problem with the vendor expecting the defective items returned.
If a customer is going to defame a company in their public forums then I think the company should be able to defend their actions in the same forum. It only seems fair.
@sammydog01 Thanks for your reply. I was just curious about the timing.
If a customer is going to defame a company in their public forums then I think the company should be able to defend their actions in the same forum. It only seems fair.
I see this in other industries. I think it can (and often does) degrade to childish, snarky and negative. It presents a bad impression on potential customers. Personally, I have opted not to do business with companies who have been drawn into flame wars by unhappy customers (who’s complaint has some amount of justification).
My opinion: Being defamed in a public forum while remaining professional… it’s a cost of building goodwill among customers and potential customers. A company should be committed to taking the high road.
EDIT: I’m not implying @dave was unprofessional, but his reply to the customer wasn’t exactly what I’d call cordial or empathetic.
@sammydog01 If meh’s lack of careful packing caused the damage then this is still meh’s problem. It is preventable and a customer should be able to expect to receive purchased items in good condition. If there is a problem then it needs taken care of (which in my very, very limited experience it has been).
With regards to the rip off issue (which I admit never occurred to me people would do this) - meh can ask for the damaged stuff back. Meh though needs to pay the postage presuming the stuff really is damaged. It should not be the customer’s expense to do that.
Not too happy with this purchase…just opened the box and went through the glasses - one earpiece broke off when trying on, and had clearly been glued in place (possibly broken during manufacture and this is how they “fixed” it) and the pair that I elected to wear the glass cracked when I tried to wipe the condensation off them with a microfiber glass cloth so I could see. I had hoped that - coming from Meh - these would be slightly better quality than the glasses one can buy at the dollar stores (Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, $.99 Only store) but I was wrong…maybe even worse quality.
Total waste of twenty bucks. Three pair are scratched and one had a dried milky substance all over them that earned them a quick trip to the trash. You win some, you lose some.
What does it mean when the original thread you posted in is “lightened out?” and your original post and responses are nowhere to be found? I’m guessing a massive conspiracy to keep me from blowing this sunglasses scam wide open. Always go with the obvious.
Thanks for sharing. I am looking to buy new sunglasses and was looking for some of the sunglasses distributors {aka: morningsave.com}. I am really thankful that you thought of sharing this deal here I am surely going to check those sunglasses.

@Thumperchick You’re welcome. Sorry for the double tag, though. I got distracted after opening the thread and the post by @djslack hadn’t been posted yet so I didn’t see you’d already been tagged when I posted.

meh. I wear prescription ones…
@Kidsandliz I wear contacts and sunglasses on sunny days because I’m too cheap to buy prescription sunglasses.
@Kidsandliz yeah. Same here. Oh well.
Shady deal

Very meh. Cheap sunglasses suck.
I see what you’re doing here!

Yis! the weird and wacky meh deals are back!
20 pairs of cheap sunglasses on their way to me! I’ll never be without again!
Well, that’s most of my Christmas shopping done. Thanks, meh buyers!
You could not pay me to take these off of your hands.
In other words, BATH
@ConAndLibrarian Beat me to it! Bath!
@boc Yep. Came here to see that reference. Well done.
@boc young David Duchovny? Would explain his current singing career.
@boc Another Sawyer fan! The Man of Constant Sorrow could have probably used these shades. All of 'em
Yes! I am down to my last pair from the last time sunglasses were up. In for 20 this time.

@mike808 I think someone still has a few boxes of seizure glasses left…
@mike808 Dearest Metizen, I seek your attention this evening in that the picture you posted is a rather headache-inducing image. I respectfully ask that you refrain from posting potential seizure risk pictures in the future. Cheers!
@placeholder Perhaps a Mehta-mod can remove it. Too late for me to delete it. OK with me.
@placeholder Take a look at @Jcast617 post down below.
@mike808 Ha, good joke… Why would you ask for someone to purposely look for that other post? What is wrong with you?

As in “makes me feel nauseous”, compared to “made me feel nauseated”.
Indeed, you are no expert.
Nevertheless, here is a good read on the history of its use, including that it may not be entirely incorrect based on historical accounts:
http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-nau1.htm
I’m used to it here after my distracted driving comments before :|
@placeholder ^-- what he said.
@mike808 Language drifts. Deal with it.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nauseous
https://www.ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=nauseous
@dischorran Ignorance is not a virtue. Repeating it does not make it more so.
@Pantheist someone should start an optical illusions thread. Similar to the trippy Alice thread, but not quite.
Can someone sum up that terrible wall of text my brain doesn’t feel like scanning through it all for all of the points being made
@sp3ar Grad student was up late studying, asked for frog picture to be removed bc their life is hard and it made them “nauseous”, it was pointed out that grad student should have used the word “nauseated”, someone disagreed, person who posted frog picture not sympathetic to grad studen’s apparent plight of experiencing pictures that make them “nauseous”, the question of simply scrolling past the picture was raised, I think that’s it
@carlyle i think you stopped right before the dissertations began like I did
Seemed like a respectful original request to me.
@placeholder My point is that I’m not responsible for curating the world that you choose to expose yourself to.
You’re a big boy. Act like one.
@Kenbo @mike808
I’m a little late to the party here due to out patient surgery and some complications so I am just now finding time to catch up…
Better this than a fuko full of reading glasses. I’m in.
@medz But those reading glasses are useful. I think I am down to my last pair.
I think I need to go all in on these, too. Spouse loses these often so I like to keep a couple pair handy.
@boc Jinx! Can’t speak 'til I say your name!
@mossygreen Too bad I said it before you so therefore the jinx is on YOU!
@boc Damn it! I would also have accepted the “@boc” as saying your name. Also, I forgot the “personal jinx” part, so my jinx clearly had no legal standing. So, do I buy you a coke or what?
Not a single pair of clip-ons…
@Tin_Foil Ya beat me.
Fire up the 8-track player!
Yes! I only buy cheap sunglasses because I’m constantly losing or breaking them.
@metageist that, and besides the price there isn’t much difference between cheap and expensive.
Something tells me these will sell out and the circuit breaker will kick in.
Oh God! What did I just do!
/giphy wealthy-hyperactive-leech
@thismyusername my thoughts exactly!
Ten dollar store sunglasses for $10? Meh.
So maybe if it was men/women/mixed as options - meh my karma would give me the opposite of those appropriate for my gender.
In for 20. I lost all but 1 of my Piranha glasses from way back. I really loved my brown camo piranha vids. Alas, all sunglasses get lost someday.
Wouldn’t a bunch of these technically be sunplastics? I doubt there’s actually glass in many, if any, of them.
In for 20…I like having backups to my backups (not too much is shittier than taking a 4+ hour drive on sunny day with no shades) and my wife needs some - I think I see some girly styles.
I don’t know why I’ve done this, but why the hell not.
@Nexar it’s an addiction.
@RedOx I’ll cop to poor impulse control.
@Nexar @RedOx @tartanknickers
…hmmmm
Not sure I’ve ever even owned one pair, much less 10…
@rjquillin I suspect that Irk recommends you start with 30…
Are these polarized? If not, they’re not worth it.
@Pat4ever Exactly. You can get polarized for $20-30 a dozen…in a style you might actually wear. I like the concept, but sunglasses can be too crappy.
Oh what the hell.
/image eternal-cowardly-sand
UVA and UVB? Can some clarify this before I scorch my eyes (again)?
@njd Not 100% sure, but if you look closely at the pictures, they all seem to have stickers that say “Maximum UV Protection.” Implies UVA and UVB but who knows?
@njd these are almost certainly polycarbonate lenses which block both quite effectively

@BuddTX disappointed in total lack of puns.
I wear prescription sunglasses for driving but having a few pairs of disposable ones for non-driving situations might come in handy. I’ll find out because I couldn’t resist ordering.
/giphy deluded-weak-calculator
Since meh has it backwards on 2 for Tuesday I had to purchase 2 on 10 for Tuesday. Now what I’m I going to do with 20 cheap sunglasses is a different story. Hopefully Gishwhes will have a sunglass challenge
I just need to pay for an eye exam and contact lenses so I can save monies on sunnies.
You guys should have sold these like the Built NY cases; 10 for $10 or 30 for $8.
I’m taking this personal now. I’m a good barameter of Woot.
I was lou reed sunglasses since like 1975 so…
come on mr. meh. wanna do rehab together?
I’m in for ten. I’m sorely tempted to add another ten, but what would I do with that many? Hmm…
I couldn’t resist. Ordered two sets and canceled the first order of one set. I just hope that none of them have nose pieces. Those get tangled in my curly hair.
@PurplePawprints I don’t think you’re suppose to wear them there.
@PurplePawprints my sympathy for all that curly hair around your nose. must be disconcerting!
David Caruso went through more than a few pair…
This may be the dumbest shit I’ve seen on here yet. I love it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not buying it. But I. Love. It.

@BuddTX Wasn’t that from the Schlitz Gay commercial?
I live in Florida. The gulf is hell on sunglasses. I can go through 10 pairs in a season, easily.
Grew up blind as a bat and couldn’t afford prescription sunglasses. Dorky clip-ons were my only option. So now, post-Lasix, I am a sunglasses whore. Totally in.
I lose/scratch my sunglasses all too often… in for 10

Almost bought a cheap pair like these at Target’s bargain section for $2.99. These look just as cheap.

I love a 10 for tensday. I enthusiastically endorse this concept.
Before the 99 Cent Only chain was sold to vulture capitalists and turned into cookie cutter crap selling mostly junk MADE for 99 cent stores, they used to have sunglass deals for a buck a pair that included decent styles and quality and polarized lenses I have a big box of those.
This deal? By comparison not so hot.
@KwadGuy Dollartree is still my ‘go to’ store for cheap shades. (see comment below)
@chienfou was this comment really just to tell people you had a salt water pool? come on, just admit it. it’s okay. i think that’s neat as heck.
@jerk_nugget no, that’s already been covered here
@chienfou nice pictures! summer would be enjoyable for me if i could be submerged in salt water more time than not like it was when i was little.
@jerk_nugget yeah, it makes mowing the acre a lot more fun when you can strip off the earbuds and jump in the pool when you get too hot…
*Auto correct: Kanaha
If I had a choice between buying these and throwing $5 in the garbage, I would choose to trash the $5.
@MrMark *or. not “and”
@MrMark Tonto e Quanto
@OnionSoup Yeah, it’s the not picking styles that counts me out. I am picky about styles and colors.
/image agreeable-rural-death

this is a ‘meh’ from me, but only because i already have a bag of assorted sunglasses. (a friend of a friend got them to me after my partner and i lost all our stuff and it was probably one of the most helpful things we were offered/given at that time. plus i got a pair of hello kitty sunglasses in that bag which are the best.)
anyway, i really liked the writeup and the meh button

Why did I buy 20 of these?
@TheChumSlick You can cancel or change your order up to an hour later. I came to my senses too late, alas, but you may still save yourself.
@OldCatLady It’s too late for me. Now I need to buy contact lenses.
not polarized, not deal
Hoping to use for my remake of early Elton John videos
The only problems with these are that 1) when I buy sunglasses, it’s almost always because I forgot my sunglasses, 2) I have forsaken contact lenses, 3) my head width exceeds the average head these are made for.
And yet, I’m still considering purchasing them.
@JerseyFrank Better buy them right now- they may sell out.
Serves a niche in the sunglasses world…people with 20 eyes…
In for 20…between my 3 grandchildren “borrowing” them to play outside in and me sitting on them, these should last the summer.
inexpensive-magical-snow…hmmm
Bought this last night, and woke up regretting it. Am I doing it right?
@DrSayre No. You remembered that you did it. When it arrives as a surprise, that is when you’re doing it right.
@DrSayre @mike808 We support a wide variety of regret plans. I myself prefer to have instant regret as well as lingering regret, but it’s a personal choice for everyone how they will regret their purchase.
Why not, better to lose 4 of these while drunk this summer than my good ones.

I do want to buy them, but I must control myself. I could get 10 at the 99 cent store for the same price. I just need to keep telling myself this.
I need 10 boots for $10 so I can kick myself in the ass for not clicking on meh.com Tuesday! I work with a group that gives away items to the homeless once a month and in Phoenix, sunglasses are a highly requested item. Grrrr. http://foryouto.tk/
@smkarizona Dollar Tree has sunglasses for the same price.
@smkarizona Thank God for people like you.
@smkarizona Same in Jacksonville. I bought 20, same reason. Also need inexpensive readers; Dollar Tree sometimes has sunglasses that are readers.
@OldCatLady I just get the $6 fishing glasses at wallys, they’re polarized and uv protected
@cranky1950 The readers are for the homeless group, not me. We do buy child size readers, when we find them.

@smkarizona Based on the negative comments on here I’m hoping you got some useful sun glasses.
@jml326 I got a case of beautiful sunglasses that were gone in no time! Thanks so much!!!
Hoped that if truly random, a pair or two out of 10 might be polarized, but no joy.
meh to the n’th power.
(n > 1)
Received today, lots of dups but that’s ok. There are several in the two lots that I like and more that I will toss in the car for those times when I don’t have another pair. Will give the others away, for $10 for 10 I’m not disappointed and would take the chance again.
I got mine today. Only one duplicate set. But one had an arm broken at the frame, another had a cracked lens, a third had a big scratch down most of one of the lenses and three more had smaller scratches on one or both lenses. A bit disappointing but I’m hopefully that customer service can help.
I received mine today. I get the sense that they offer zero UV protection despite the cheap “Maximum UV protection” sticker on it.
@madoka I tested a random sample of 5 pairs from my 20…
UV-A (led blacklight) blockage: yes
UV-C (sanitizing device, florescent ) blockage: yes
I am not sure I have a UV-B source to test with, but, my totally non scientific tests indicate these block at least as much as my $10 panama jacks that were on sale for $5 that rang up as $1.
(polycarbonate is a natural UV filter)
I tried shining a UV-A flashlight through some of them and it went right through.
@madoka what did you use as your indicator? I used the UV strip on a 20 dollar bill. also what style I’ll see if I got that kind and test it.
@thismyusername I used a credit card and a $100 bill. I tested a couple of the plastic ones, all black with thick arms/temples.
@madoka weird! every pair I’ve tested block…
are you testing like this?
the camera doesn’t really like that flouresing strip too much but you can barely make out how its blocked by the glasses.
@thismyusername
That picture shows a $20 bill. @madoka used a $100 bill.
One of you needs to change which bill is being used.
@PlacidPenguin lol. send several $100 bills for testing to @thismyusername asap!
@thismyusername I placed the card/bill where your eyes would be. You’ve placed it way in the back of one’s head.

Is this your way of getting rid of VMPs?
This was really not acceptable. I’m off to w–t to see if they can sell me an overpriced vacuum.
Seriously & sincerely disapointed,
ElFunkMan
@elfunkman If it makes you feel better, I got a couple with metal frames. (aviator type)
@elfunkman this is truly my most meh purchase to date.
@connorbush I bought 20, kind of wish I went for the more. I’m extremely pleased with the meh-ness of them.
@hanzov69 They are over on MorningSave right now. Of course you will pay $1.08 each, but you could get up to 30 more if you would like.
@elfunkman I think mine are pretty fun! I’m happy with my purchase
@elfunkman
/giphy ditto
I bought these. They haven’t arrived yet, but I still can’t believe I bought a set.
I bought these and they will work for lake day when you expect to lose them in the lake…barely. My last purchase of the Pirana glasses yielded much better results.
This was a meh purchase in both word and deed. I got exactly what I paid for.
90% of my glasses arrive too scratched to use. Extreme lens scratching issues. I wonder if this happened in transit or if they left meh hq in such condition?
I got 20 pairs today, all in plastic bags. I’m pretty sure there are no duplicates.
i had one or two pairs that were scratched but I don’t know if 10 dollhairs is worth complaining about
A couple of my twenty had scratches and quite a few looked dirty and had something sticky on them. I was going to post pics, but it seems like this was a common issue and mine are not an anomaly. I should have kept my original order of ten (well, if I’m being honest, I shouldn’t have ordered them at all.)
Barring a few bent hinges (temples?), mine arrived in decent enough shape. All were in plastic bags.
I bought these because I have a friend who frequently gets drunk and “steals” my sunglasses, which are of good quality / expensive cost.
Now I have a car filled with random sunglasses for her to take, without me having to chase her around for weeks to get them back.
meh!
(also, after reading a lot of the above nonsense… geez- just scroll on)
Got my 30 pairs with no duplicates (which really surprised me).
Got 20 and 11 have scratched lenses and 2 have defects on frames. Rude letter back from customer service. Should have just burned my $25.
@nycrelady Well back you up.
/giphy torches and pitchforks
I’m not going to post their letter in case they’d like to keep that private but to summarize, they were disappointed in the quality and found it hard to believe any retailer would charge $10 for these ten pairs of sunglasses. Here’s our initial reply:
@Kidsandliz I disagree. Nobody besmirches meh customer service and gets away with it. Nobody!
@dave I don’t see how that can be viewed as rude- unhelpful maybe but not rude.
@medz My point was that employees - I was not referring to other customers - shouldn’t fight a customer service war in public… customers on the other hand can do what they want.
@Kidsandliz I know, but it can be fun when a staffer calls out the BS.
@medz - Agreed, transparency is one of the things that makes meh so special.
@Kidsandliz That thinking is so Morningsave.
@ruouttaurmind Thank you! And I agree with you completely.
They were not good. Bad purchase bad decision
One of my few regretful purchases from meh.
But I do regret buying them. Although the quality is enough to make me sad, I got mostly girl glasses too.
Total waste of twenty bucks. Three pair are scratched and one had a dried milky substance all over them that earned them a quick trip to the trash. You win some, you lose some.
@sammydog01
/giphy milky substance
@medz That is a much nicer milky substance than what I had in mind.
@sammydog01 that’s disgusting, you creep.
What does it mean when the original thread you posted in is “lightened out?” and your original post and responses are nowhere to be found? I’m guessing a massive conspiracy to keep me from blowing this sunglasses scam wide open. Always go with the obvious.
@elfunkman
So…
Not this comment ?
@elfunkman I can see your post. Maybe your computer hates you.
@sammydog01 So my computer and I both hate ourselves?.. Apparently, that answer is possible. I found the original post. Thanks for the help.
The sunglasses are still complete junk… Maybe if I wear them at night I’ll feel different.
@elfunkman I doubt it. They’re still garbage in the dark.
@elfunkman The light hyperlinks mean there aren’t any new messages since the last time you popped into that thread.
@elfunkman i bet you could keep track of the visions in your eyes if you did that.
Don’t switch the blade on the guy in shades, oh no.
Thanks for sharing. I am looking to buy new sunglasses and was looking for some of the sunglasses distributors {aka: morningsave.com}. I am really thankful that you thought of sharing this deal here I am surely going to check those sunglasses.
spam removal and edits brought to you by TC and sponsored by morningsave.com - where these sunglasses are currently for sale.
@DeltaGoggins You can still buy them over at morningsave.com. Welcome to the forum and thanks for at least not necroposting spam links.
@thumperchick, can you sanitize it?

@PurplePawprints @djslack - thanks for the tag!
@Thumperchick You’re welcome. Sorry for the double tag, though. I got distracted after opening the thread and the post by @djslack hadn’t been posted yet so I didn’t see you’d already been tagged when I posted.
Most of them the same style but different color. I was not happy with my purchase.
Don’t do it! Most the same style just different colors. Could not return. Ended up donating most.
I got a lot of good ones and am pretty happy with my purchase. When I break or lose one, I still have many to choose from.
has anyone seen chameleon glasses
@ina1979 no. Are you going to spam us with a link?
@ina1979 @RiotDemon I NEED TO SEE THE LINK!
