10-9-17 Halloween Party Treats

Tonight’s topic is going to be fairly short because I’m asking you if there is any special Halloween treats that you like to serve for a party.

I wish I had the photo of my mom’s version of this Betty Crocker ghost cake. I dare say that hers looked nicer! This is the photo from the original cookbook from the 70s. Apparently you put sugar cubes, and something else (alcohol?) into the eggshell eyes and light it on fire. I don’t remember my mom doing that though. I’m pretty sure hers had a couple of candies in them instead.

How beautiful is this random cake I came across?

What is your absolute must bring treats for a Halloween party?

Unfortunately I haven’t seen them in concert. They were supposed to be at the Buzz Bake Sale I mentioned in a previous topic, but they had to cancel last minute.

My Mom put all her efforts into making great costumes for us. I don’t really recall any special cakes or anything. We would do caramel apples at home, maybe rice krispy treats; other than that it was the candy, collected or leftover that were the treats.

- @duodec aww, my mom would make our costumes as well. I remember in second grade there was a costume contest at school. She was shocked that the winners were all store bought costumes.

- I love videos where instead of actually filming or editing in slow motion, they just pan the camera slowly and have the performers MOVE slowly. It’s a thrifty vibe.

Sometimes if I’m going to a Halloween party I make kitty litter cake. IIRC it’s pistachio pudding with crumbled cake and crumbled oreos, garnished with some unwrapped and reshaped Tootsie rolls. Serve in a new litter box with a new litter scoop and voila, a gross yet delicious Halloween treat.
