Do these things even work?

“Unimpressive”. “Plasticky”. “Disappoint your child”. These are just a few of the terms we used last time we sold the Tasco Digital Microscope. And just for good measure, we quoted some Amazon reviews: “don’t get your expectations too high” and “seems a bit flimsy”. Frankly, we were being too kind. We must have been in a good mood that day.

That still sounded pretty good to 110 of you. Somehow, we managed to move 143 of these uninspiring units, despite profoundly anemic specs like 120x magnification, 640x480 video resolution, and no Mac compatibility. No give-backs, suckers! Called it!

Maybe there’s some minuscule chance your Tasco Digital Microscope actually wasn’t utter garbage. Maybe you found some way to live with its severe limitations. Maybe, if we weren’t so jaded, we would have been able to see the beauty in this humble little miracle. Maybe this is a lesson for us to open up our shriveled hearts to the wonder around us, and start to really live again.

But of course not. What were we thinking? It’s crap, and that’s why we’re selling it so cheap. Any remote possibility that it’s acceptable would mean we’ve cost ourselves a butt-ton of money. Our keen judgment would never let us down like that.

Let us have it, you brave 110. Speak crap to power. Tell us, and the world, how the Tasco Digital Microscope (under)performed under in-home conditions. Did we actually understate its underwhelmingness, somehow leaving you even more disappointed than we told you you’d be? Or did we cruelly malign a pathetic but harmless toy? Let it fly. Fortunately, you don’t need a decent microscope to find our forum.
