Gift Early, Gift Often
We just want to be clear here: we are selling this ukulele today so you can buy it and give it as a gift come the holidays.
Yes, we do own a calendar here at Meh. We are aware that it is not Cyber Monday or Black Friday. In fact, we haven’t even reached the mid-point of October. If you haven’t decided on a Halloween costume yet, you still have, like, a week to do so before time really starts limiting your options in terms of either construction or stock at the costume store.
What we’re saying is: us selling this is sorta like when you talk to your mom three weeks before your trip home for a long weekend, and she asks you how packing is coming along.
And yet, we really do think this would be a great holiday gift and now would be a great time to get it.
In terms of the first point–its potential as a gift–that seems self-explanatory. Do you have a budding musician in your life? Then get them a sweet ukulele! It looks super cute. It’s fairly easy to learn. And if they give it a go and ultimately decide, Eh, not for me, it’s not like you had to get rid of a loveseat to make room for a baby grand in the living room.
Plus, there’s a sweet bag!
In other words, it’s the perfect secondary gift: not the big gift of the season (which they’re excited about but also expecting), nor a stocking stuffer (which might earn a few chuckles but little more), nor something practical like socks and a new coat (which they’ll come to appreciate but won’t be excited about).
These are the gifts upon which true holiday magic is built–fun things they don’t know they want until they tear open the wrapping paper. They’re also the hardest to shop for, because they don’t appear on lists. You need to get a little creative, is what we’re saying.
Which brings us to the second point–that now is the perfect time to buy a gift uke. The holidays are stressful. You’ll have a million things to think about come late November/early December. So, if you can get a few presents to fill out the bounty now, leaving only the big gift and a few knick-knacks to get later, you’ll be happy you did it.
Also, you can buy it if you just want a ukulele. That’s cool too.
