Sistema 4-Piece Microwave Steamer Set

  • Set includes two microwave steamer containers and two shallower microwave steaming plates with clip-on watertight lids
  • We won’t tell anybody if you just use them to take your lunch to work and then not steam anything
  • Cook veggies in the microwave without turning them into lifeless pulp
  • They stack politely and unobtrusively when not in use
  • BPA-free plastic, as if anybody would dare sell a food container of non-BPA plastic nowadays
  • Model: K39535 (as a model number, not bad; as a poker hand, two pair, just like the set itself)

Take one for the steam.

Let’s say you’re car shopping. You’ve narrowed it down to two choices that are almost identical. But one of them also dispenses delicious chocolate milkshakes.

Which one are you going to buy? The milkshake car, obviously.

Now let’s say you’re looking for some airtight, watertight plastic containers to take your lunch to work in. You’ve got some choices that are fine or whatever, and some that can also be used to steam fresh vegetables, fish, and poultry. You can have cold salad one day, hot chicken breast the next, all in the same container.

Again, the choice is obvious.

The number of times that you steam your lunch is limited. The number of times that you carry your lunch to work plus the number of times you steam your lunch is much bigger. Why not get the one that does both?

We assume that Sistema calling these four containers a “steamer set” is why they sold poorly enough for us to get our hands on them. If they were called Hot ‘n’ Cold Container sets, or Two-Way Lunch sets, or Steam & Chill Cooker sets, or some other name that gets at their versatility, they probably wouldn’t be here right now.

But under any name, at this price, for people who like lunch cold some days and hot other days, they’re the obvious choice. At least until somebody invents a lunch container that dispenses delicious chocolate milkshakes.
