Pioneer Dolby Atmos Enabled Speakers
- Designed to serve as the “height” channel in that Atmos 3D sound system we’ve blathered on and on about
- Basically, Atmos adds an up-and-down dimension to the left-right, front-back soundfield of regular old surround sound
- Each speaker features an upward-firing concentric driver array (i.e., they point up)
- Designed by big-shot audio designer Andrew Jones, with features like a rounded cabinet to eliminate vibration, and an advanced tuning circuit to optimize both directionality and fidelity
- Model: SP-T22A-LR (SP for speakers, LR for left-right, hyphens for no discernible reason whatsoever)
A matter of the Atmost importance.
We keep telling you guys about this Dolby Atmos 3D sound thing. It adds an up-and-down axis to surround sound’s side-to-side, front-to-back soundfield. Atmos literally brings another dimension to your movie watching, if you have a receiver that can handle it… and some speakers. You can make any speakers work, but speakers designed for Atmos will work more easily.
Like these today. If you bought an Atmos receiver previously (from us or elsewhere), put down that nail gun and that coathanger. Stop trying to fit regular speakers into an Atmos-shaped hole. Mount these upward-firing Pioneer speakers on a stand or shelf and hear that upper channel descend upon you like a choir of angels - or, more likely, like an attack helicopter.
If you never bought an Atmos receiver because you weren’t sure about the speaker situation, here’s a little secret: we’re going to be selling the receivers again soon. Now’s the time to get a deal on the hardest-to-fake speakers in an Atmos system, from a legit brand like Pioneer, designed by Andrew Jones, who must be a big-deal audio engineer if they bother putting his name on them.
If you have no interest in Atmos 3D audio, why are you still reading this? Go read a good book, or be with the people you love, or learn to cook really good fish tacos. Some things are more important than ecommerce. Just as long as you come back to buy what we’re selling tomorrow.
