Odyssey Toys X-7 Microlite Drone
Our Take
- A drone that lights up with LEDs and can withstand some bumps thanks to its bumpers- It can be controlled from up to 325 feet away with 2.4 GHz transmitter- The Amazon page describes it as a “gutsy galactic taxi,” which sounds like a P-Funk lyric- For those of you who thought today’s product might be a Fuko, you’ll have to wait…- Model: ODY-7505* (Has a weird Google results page if you’re viewing on desktop. The drone owns the actual search results, but there’s a sponsored “Shop for ODY7505 on Google” sidebar that links to bras. Who would bid on that keyword??)
Don't Get Cocky, Kid
There’s a lot you can do with drone like this, most of which you probably shouldn’t. https://media.giphy.com/media/13U8vwAotfswRW/giphy.gifLike that. You might think you’re a super drone pilot after 2 hours of playing with it and start trying crap like: https://media0.giphy.com/media/C1fQQXBtmcxdS/giphy.gifBut it’s mostly a toy, not some high-powered industrial racing drone. It probably doesn’t have enough juice to do this: https://media.giphy.com/media/RJ5guCJ4vbwK4/giphy.gifAnd it definitely doesn’t have enough juice to do this: https://media.giphy.com/media/T0rRuQjUQYHSw/giphy.gifIt’s a lot of fun to play around with for every member of the household: https://media.giphy.com/media/Uj45439QcIF32/giphy.gifIts got bright lights to see it at night and bumpers to fend off the worst damage. It doesn’t have a camera, but that’s just as well. Your video projects would probably end up like this: https://media.giphy.com/media/RA8dE3vUORpIY/giphy.gifOr this: https://media.giphy.com/media/KlvQUCaSze8dW/giphy.gifOr this: https://media.giphy.com/media/YhGyeG6qcpV7O/giphy.gifOr, if you’re foolish enough to fly it around an area with a bunch people wielding ranged weaponry, like this: https://media.giphy.com/media/RZZYldHClKKc/giphy.gifPoint is – stay within your quadcopter-flying capabilities and have some fun.
