You can load up your car and drive to nature. Or you can invite nature to come to you. Like this guy tonx.

His job is making craft coffee. His home is Los Angeles. His enthusiasm is taking amazing iPhone videos of hummingbirds at the feeders outside his house, and posting them to Instagram.

You can do this too. With a smartphone, a $5 macro lens, a feeder like this - and patience. Not only the patience to wait for the hummingbirds. The patience to read the directions for the feeder.

A few Amazon reviewers complained about leaking, except for the guy who followed the directions. He doesn’t seem to have had this problem. We took some care to put one together ourselves, and it didn’t leak.

Nature works on its own time. On its own schedule. By its own imperatives. If you try to rush it - even by so much as skimming the directions for your hummingbird feeder - it will spurn you.

But if you’re quiet, and careful, and calm, you might see something like that right in front of you instead of just on the Internet. And as much as we love tonx’s videos, no Instagram feed can top real life.
