Tonight, On Mehsterpiece Theatre, Pt. 3
Tonight, a Mehsterpiece Theatre production that raises the questions some would prefer to remain unspoken, brought to you by Hemp Backpacks and Mediocritee.
Corbin Hamilton is a young producer working for Mehsterpiece Theatre when he discovers a short story titled “A Country Doctor” that has no notable film or television adaptations. A respected work of literature? With such a perfect title for their programming? It seems almost too good to be true.
And it is.
Corbin discovers as much when, having already purchased the rights, he reads the story for the first time. What he hoped would be the tale of a doctor in a small rural village expertly solving maladies using a mixture of charm and holistic medical knowledge is something else entirely: a surreally upsetting story involving a gash crawling with worms and school children singing an eery chant, and ending with the doctor himself being stripped naked and forced into the bed of a wounded man.
