Keep It Chaotic
Mondays are always hard, but this Monday is hard for a different reason. Your body isn’t ready to go back to work, sure, but it’s also not ready to go back to normal life. Even on Thursday and Friday–weekdays, for crying out loud–any time from mid-morning to late in the evening, you’ve been inundated with high stakes, super emotional college basketball. But that’s over now. Yes, the tournament will continue, but also it won’t. In a way, it ended yesterday. Because from this point on, it assumes the rhythms of a standard sports playoffs. Some nights there will be games. Some nights there won’t. Eventually a champion will be crowned.
But gone are the days of total basketball saturation. Gone are the days of excitement. Gone are the days when euphoria or despair might invade an afternoon meeting or a commute, simply because of decisions made by a group of athletic teens and early twenty somethings hundreds if not thousands of miles away.
In a way, it’s a good thing. You can’t live life like that. It’s too exciting, too fun, too chaotic. You need to reassume your routines.
Still, it’s dangerous to go from so much excess back to normal. It’s like the day after Thanksgiving when you feel famished after eating what is a healthy portion of food; your body isn’t ready for normal just yet.
