What a Pair
So, what we have here are a few two-packs of refurbished Altec Lansing speakers. All of them are waterproof. All of them can float.
The two-packs can be paired together, which is neat. In fact, with the Mini and the Mini Jolt, you can pair up to 50. Which seems like an excessive amount of speakers to pair together, if you ask us. (And, actually, is that the right word? Pair? For more than two things? Eh, whatever. You get it.)
Here’s a quick breakdown of the different options:
H20 - The sleekest and arguably most attractive. 100-foot bluetooth range, 10 hours of runtime.
Mini LifeJacket - A slightly more aggressive and rugged design. 50-foot bluetooth range, 16 hours or runtime.
Mini LifeJacket Jolt - Same design as the Mini LifeJacket. Pair up to 50 speakers. 100-foot bluetooth range, 16 hours of runtime, and SOME LIGHTS!
Got it? Great.
Now, we just want to take a minute to tip our hat to Alter Lansing here. Whoever named these things did a fantastic job. LifeJacket. Not only does it convey that the speakers float and are waterproof; it also calls to mind summer camp, canoe trips, fishing, surfing, et cetera. You see LifeJacket, and you think: adventure. Even if it’s just a trip to the local swimming hole with a few friends on a random Tuesday in the summer, there’s a sense of doing built-in. After all, you don’t put on a life jacket to scroll Reddit.
As such, the name allows you to buy these things under the pretense that you will put them to use doing something interesting and/or outdoorsy.
And maybe you will!
But you know what else these would be great for? Listening to a baseball game while doing the dishes. Or taking a luxurious bath and enjoying a podcast.
Only, you can’t market them for that. A speaker for doing dishes or cleaning up after a long day? That sounds depressing, doesn’t it?
In other words: ‘LifeJacket’ gets the speakers through the door with a promise of summery excitement, and then, once they’re in your house, you can do whatever boring thing you want with them.
So buy some speakers, okay?
