White on pale and black on dark text isn't readable
7Several times during this 'thon and in recent days, the text of certain things in the story column has been in low-contrast colors. As I post this, the Better Battery listing has white text for the ICYMI and some other boilerplate below the story, atop a light grey-ish background, almost completely unreadable. In fact, it’s not even easy to see that it’s there at all. Earlier, there was black text on an almost-black dark grey background for a different item. Can we get this fixed, please?

@shawn @dave I wasn’t sure if tagging you in the topic text would work, but tag, you’re it. (In case it’s relevant, I browse this site with the “dark mode” setting enabled in my profile.)
@shawn @dave @troy And once again, as has been the case for too long, the block below the story on the listing page, which is featuring the SideDeal offer, is mostly unreadable because of lack of adequate contrast. Some of that text is apparently the exact same color as the background; the only way to see it is to hit CTRL-A to select all of the text on the page, which flips it and highlights it. During a 'thon, this makes the ICYMI link get ghosted. I suspect that the reason this isn’t generating much feedback is that aside from mildly-OCD font geeks like me, most folks just don’t notice what they don’t see. But what they don’t see isn’t doing you any good.
@werehatrack is this what you’re talking about?
Happy to look into it but I’m not seeing an issue. Could be a custom browser setting you have. Can you give us a screenshot and some information about how you’re seeing it so we can try to reproduce?
@shawn On my desktop browser (Brave) that orange box is absent. On my phone, which is not where I do most of my browsing, it’s present. (Also Brave.)
@shawn @werehatrack
It looks fine to me likewise. Perhaps it’s a “brave” setting issue…
@shawn Here’s a cropped screenshot from the desktop.

@shawn Also, Firefox displays the box. This appears to be a Brave issue on this desktop, and may be related to the fact that I’m running 7.
Well, the AI that runs the place now thought there was no problem with the text colors as it was reading in binary.
@pmarin I thought hexadecimal was the cool thing currently for colors.
Of course, the really cool thing now would be to go retro and use sexagesimal.

@medz Here’s the image you requested for “olden with bad eyesight crying me a river”
@mediocrebot @medz Wow, she doesn’t have to worry about water bills … oh, wait. Desalinization. Sigh.
I do agree on occasion it is hard to read what is on the homepage due to lack of contrast between the type and the color(s) “behind” it. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is irritating. I use safari and sometimes firefox.
