2-for-Tuesday: Your Choice Igloo 24oz Water Bottle or 16oz Steel Tumbler
- Igloo Swift 24oz Gripper Water Bottles are sturdy, feature a silicone sleeve, and come in 3 different colors: Aqua, Coral, and Asphalt.
- Igloo Isabel 16oz Coffee Tumblers are made of stainless steel, are vacuum insulated, and come in two colors: normal stainless steel, and blue-ish stainless steel.
- You choose any two of those five options (or any one, because you can get two of the same exact thing, if you’re like that).
- Models: 00070158, 00070160 for the tumblers. 70122, 70126, & 70128 for the water bottles. (Not much creativity in the model number department over that at Igloo, I guess.)
Who Will Police The Two-Pack Police
The two pack should be a simple thing. The joy is that you get two things, while only shopping for one. Perhaps there could be a choice of color or size. But two different things sold together, even if they are two different things in the same category (like two different drink vessels), is not a two-pack. Or is it?
Today’s sale would say that, yes, actually it is, because today’s two-pack is a choice: there are Igloo Isabel 16oz Coffee Tumblers (in your choice of two colors) and there are Igloo Swift 24oz Gripper Water Bottles (in your choice of three colors). You can get two Water Bottles of different colors, of the same color, or one paired with a coffee tumbler of either of the two colors, or two coffee tumblers of the same or of different colors.
To my eyes, this is a slippery slope. Yes, these items are related. You could even drink water out of the coffee tumbler and cold-brew coffee out of the water bottle. But they’re still not the same thing. And if we ease up on the parameters now, what kind of precedent does that set for the future? Must we begin calling a hot-dog a two-pack of bun and dog? In the world created by this sale, are not fraternal twins just grab-bag BOGO siblings?
Or, to look at it from a different angle: what if we sell a pick-your-own two-pack like this one, but each item in it is a pick-your-own two pack? Does that make a pick-your-own two-pack of pick-your-own two-packs a single sale and thus a single item that can be included as half of a future pick-your-own two-pack? It’s dangerous, I say. In fact, the effects could be catastrophic!
On the other hand, we really do need to get rid of some of these Igloos. So, please, buy some! And we’ll do our best not to tear holes in the fabric of reality.
