@cbl_wv Like the old guy out in the sticks who called the cops to say that someone was breaking into his shed. They told him they had no one available but would send someone as soon as they could. A few minutes later he called back and said not to bother, he’d shot both the intruders. Cops showed up within 5 minutes and caught the guys red-handed in the shed. Cops went to the old guy and said “I thought you said you’d shot them”, to which he replied “I thought you said you had no one who could respond”.
@lilsrm123@tsveggie Spec’s say it does:

Yeah, bought one and have yet to see it work properly. Bad connections, not network-able, turning off and on randomly; out right NOT working as advertised etc. have been constant. If I could go back in time and not buy it, I would.
@kwschmall I have a zmodo camera that I bought from MEH a couple of years ago, sitting in a drawer…it has never once broadcast a frame of video over my network. here I am actually thinking “oh, this might be better”.
Have two. Used it when my father was ill to check in on him. Never had a problem, works great - just bought another to put in the front window to check outside.
Zmodo’s cloud service can be a bit flaky at times. I have one of their other cameras and recently the motion sensor will go off and the video clip it shows me is the delivery person walking away, which is kind of useless if they were a porch pirate instead.
I bought this the last go-round. It’s been worth it if only for the ability to yell at my kids to get to work and the dogs to get off the couch. I’d like to add their doorbell so I can yell at people outside as well.
Another Asian IP Camera. Be aware that these things are constantly connected to a remote server and all your video ends up there. The point of selling these so cheap is they are really intending to profit selling you access to their servers where they are storing your video 24/7. Don’t forget to smile, you’re are on candid camera, birthday suit and all. These “manufacturers” buy a camera kit and add their own rom-based software they customise from a “kit”. I forgot I have 4 from different sources (less than $10/ea from auction sites) I intended to hack and make local IP cameras. Never had the time to burn until now. Thanks Meh for reminding me. I was running out of projects.
@Fen_Star Good question. What has been holding me up is all the boards I have found are in Chinese and they are more like hints and tricks to modify the existing framework of the programs supplied. From what I can tell all the references are to GNOME and to be honest I am not a Linux guy. So now you know what has been holding me up. Life is a learning experience.
@aciarlotta That’s an interesting thought. Meanwhile, here in Canada , it’s the norm for people to not have guns in their homes. It’s also the norm for people to look out for each other and not try breaking into each other’s homes.
(Robberies do still occasionally occur, but violent home invasions are next to unheard of)
Ok so had a break in beginning of the year, they came in through a window. From what you guys are saying, these are not worth it and don’t work? I don’t have any Alexa or google assistants to hook up to. Just want something to monitor while I’m not home.
Just ordered 2 of these units, currently have a generic Chinese camera that works ok, but these should be much better. Will report back when I have tested one.
My zmodos all work.
Front porch
Back deck
Back porch
Workshop
Garage
Doorbell
Driveway
Pivot in kitchen
All work all the time
You do have to be able to read the connection instructions
I have 3 iterations of zmodo cams. They do connect differently
All usingmeshare app
All alerts work for myself and iphone and my wifes android
Got mine. Setup via a Pixel 3 was a little frustrating to figure out–it wouldn’t connect to wifi. The magic recipe: install and login to the app, shutoff mobile data and forget your WiFi network. Then use the app to add device via “Zink”, and it finally worked.
Software update can be found in Zmodo App Settings - this update will allow you to connect to 2.4GHz and 5Ghz routers as well as adding Google Assistant functionality
Bought 2 Pivots; they’re not compatible with my Spectrum WiFi. I’ve tried every way possible, including sitting the unit side-by-side with the new Spectrum router.
Device won’t connect, saying the signal quality sucks. Troubleshooting info is useless; if you’re able to update, why make is dig: just put it out there. I don’t have time to sift thru mountains of docs trying to get this to work when it sh work right out of the box. It’s cheap in every sense of the word: buy it at you own risk.

Oh my! So many semi-colon and colon! Imma big fan of the colon!
I’m just now getting around to hooking this up. Crazy ass year we’ve had! Any how the plug to the camera is broke. You can not plug the cord in. The space is blank.

I don’t need a security cam since I’m now at home all day!
@jmoor783 Definitely should market it as the Zmodo stay-at-home-all-day-selfie cam.
@jmoor783 Ah ha!
@jmoor783 yeah but now you can watch yourself watching yourself all day.
@jmoor783 Wait a minute! Now that I’m home I have the time to reflect on my reflection…thats deep man…
@jmoor783 Just more casualties of the coronavirus: porch pirates and burglars.
Huh…I always thought it was 1080 pee.
@teechur Only if you mount it in the bathroom.
And good luck to you all who live in a rural area, as I do… the emergency response time for an in-progress issue is over 30 minutes now…
@cbl_wv (and yeah, I do have a bug-out plan available for myself, but sheesh…)

@cbl_wv @ergomeh I read that same thing on FB yesterday
Do you realize the 720p and 1080p comparisons are the exact same picture? The purpose of 1080 pea is to show more area.
@hchavers 1080 pea just shows more legumes.
Im going to use it at our icecream store to try to keep our kids from giving away our profit if we’re ever able to open
I call bullshit. That little robot on the table is not that little girl’s daddy.
These wont connect with Alexa or google? Not that smart?
@lilsrm123 specs say software upgrades to use by google assistant

Smart costs $$$$$

@kwschmall Same here - could never get it connected to my network. And I paid way more than $29 for it…
@kwschmall @mensachick you might be trying to connect to the 5ghz connection on your router. Most Zmodo cameras only work on the 2.4ghz connection

Can you use the window sensors with Google or Alexa routines? Or with the Ring alarm? And do so without using the camera?
Bump
Have two. Used it when my father was ill to check in on him. Never had a problem, works great - just bought another to put in the front window to check outside.
Two bad reviews
I’m convinced
HARD PASS

So does it work with Alexa or not?? Page on Amazon say they are participating in Works with Alexa and it’s a “coming soon” feature.
I bought this the last go-round. It’s been worth it if only for the ability to yell at my kids to get to work and the dogs to get off the couch. I’d like to add their doorbell so I can yell at people outside as well.
Of the five “Top Reviews” on Amazon:
1 - two star
4 - one star

No problems with the one I have except my toddle likes to unplug it. In for another.
@riceatusc toddler
I’ve had one for a few months. works ok but the audio is terrible. don’t buy it if you expect to communicate on it.
Does it text you? intruder? fire? water? If you don’t subscribe to it’s monthly plan is it still useful?
Dear @meh staff. WE ARE ALL STUCK AT HOME. Nobody in their right mind would risk getting shot in the face by breaking into random homes right now.
@aciarlotta That’s an interesting thought. Meanwhile, here in Canada , it’s the norm for people to not have guns in their homes. It’s also the norm for people to look out for each other and not try breaking into each other’s homes.

@aciarlotta @curtise
I had someone break into my house a few months ago (live in MI) it was before we were all sitting at home though.
I bought one last time around and it works great for watching my dog lick his balls all day.
@SteelerDave You’re jealous, aren’t you Dave?
@Trinityscrew You know it!
Would not buy again! Won’t work with my upgraded internet. Window alerts have never worked. I got what I paid for! That was my mistake!

@star2236 Works great for me, has great motion alerts via the app on my iPhone.
So if I bought this on SideDeal yesterday for more money, so I get some kind of break?
@carrieb22222 Probably not but did you write into http://morningsave.com/support and ask?
@therealjrn thank you

I’m amazed.
Meh shipped these to me faster than most orders in the pre-COVID-19 lockdown era.
I was definitely NOT expecting that.
Give a big thanks to your staff working during these trying times to get me my mediocre purchases. (Also the USPS staff.)
I’m amazed on how much a piece of crap this is. I should learn my lesson with meh. This is far beyond meh.

If you have 5G WIFI, this item will not work. I was so disappointed.

This was a great purchase. Very easy to set up, no problems connecting to wifi, nightvision is good, and I love that I can speak through it. Love it!
