DIY, if you’re interested.
Vevor has the best deal in wire rope (cable) and zip line trollies are very reasonable. If you want details on setup, there are some great sites—just Google “zipline calculator”…
Last time I was on a zipline was in the 6th grade on a field trip to the Nebraska National Forest. They forced all of us to go on it and at the bottom was a wall of dirt. I wasn’t caught and hit the dirt pretty hard. Bruising all up and down my right side. Never again.
@kjady Normally you use gravity to stop people with zip lines. They go uphill at the end and you end up going back and forth one or more times until stopped. Sounds like an idiot built that one.
@Kidsandliz Yeah, it was back in the late 90’s and you had to have someone catching you at the bottom as we were still going way too fast. Even back then I thought it was stupid to voluntarily jump off of a perfectly good platform.
I used to work in outdoor adventure. We always had a ropes course where the non-emergency exit was a zip line. One place I worked the zip line crossed a pond. As staff we wouldn’t hook in and then drop into the pond as we crossed it (students were always hooked in with a safety line).
I’m unfortunately too chunky to go on them. They look like fun though!

AMHIK!
IME, as I get older, the zip lines on my pants are harder to keep pulled up. And rusting can also be a problem.

@Kidsandliz @kjady They already said Nebraska

Meh
I’ve never been on a commercial one, as they usually have a weight limit that I’m always over!
My dad did make one for us kids, though. Fun!
Also meh

It was fun to do once, but not fun enough to bother doing a second time.
I saw someone ziplining in Costa Rica in a travel show, over the jungle, and now I want to try it.
I did zip lines through a rainforest in Honduras last earlier this year
@ironcheftoni Was it wonderful?!
@Kyeh it was pretty cool. They were through and over a rainforest.
