This item is ALMOST as wacky as one I found on the former “Mothership” a few days ago! Check out this contraption that is sure to SELL OUT as soon as Amazon gives the meh buyers a stupendous clearance price!! Everyone with a vehicle will buy one (or more!) of these Fully Automatic Car Umbrellas with Remote Control!!
@kuoh@MrGoodGuy the possibilities are limitless! You’re futzing around with your key fob, but the sun is in your eyes? BLAMMO, car umbrella to the rescue! Spilled sriracha on your shorts, and your fiancé is about to call down to you from the veranda and you just can’t afford to have her see you like this? KASCHWAZAM, car umbrella leaps to your aid!
@MrGoodGuy@UncleVinny You’re Dukes of Hazzarding your way over a condemned bridge and need to soften the landing on the opposite end, WOOROOSHH… car umbrella saves the moonshine!
@kuoh@Kyeh@MrGoodGuy@UncleVinny
I’m actually more fascinated by the amazing number of dandelions in the yard that appears to be attached to such a bougie house…
Enjoy a roomy 150 sq. ft. shaded area with over 6.4 feet of headroom, ideal for groups, beach chairs, and all your gear
Engineered with multiple anchor points and three pole sleeves, this canopy adapts to calm or breezy conditions across beach, backyard, or camping use
Somehow I never noticed that the Meh.com editorial team has staked out a position on the Oxford comma.
@ItalianScallion@lilgreenfish@UncleVinny Needless to say, considering how few people raised in the smartphone era believe in using any punctuation at all, making a stand is all the more important!
@yakkoTDI@zxinfinity meh shoppers have, on average, appalling taste, and will buy the most reprehensible janky crap imaginable. (Meh forum commenters, on the other hand, are, on average, mustachio-twirling sophisticates of the highest order!)
@DLPanther@UncleVinny@yakkoTDI@zxinfinity
I’ve seen similar setups on the beach and can adjust their efficacy. Would be much lighter than carrying the typical metal framed 10x10 canopy which has issues next to you try to use it due to the sand it gets in the mechanisms for raising/lowering the legs as well as in the hinges at the top that allow it to expand. This would probably set up a lot quicker and potentially be just as effective. Tempting …
@PhysAssist
Right on both counts. Glad you were able to figure it out.
Obviously I need to start proofreading better so people won’t have questions. I’ve been kind of busy today as I have an open house for Mom’s house next door, a batch of two kilos of bourbon peach jam on the stove getting ready to can, and I have a bunch of stuff I need to clear up outside so the city can pick it up tomorrow.l
Thanks for clearing that up.
Interestingly enough there are likely significant restrictions on the use of this type of sunshade at the beach we frequent. Shiboomies are allowed pretty much anywhere. This type of sunshade is only allowed on the very back edge of the beach before the dunes. That is having four poles that fit in the ground and an anchor line. However this little gem probably does not make that ridiculously annoying fast flapping sound in the wind.
@rustyh3
I had to Google the term Shiboomies [and it’s actually “Shibumis”], but they look exactly like the ones on sale here, except for the 4 vs. 2-poles thing- at least in the Google pics…
Agree about the flapping in the wind being tres annoying, but these would also seem to be more useful given that they don’t require wind to keep them erect, inflated, or whatever term is most apropos.
The only thing I don’t see listed that I’d be interested in knowing are the actual dimensions of the “tent” structure…
I live in a beach community and the famous version of this are found everywhere, while tents are only allowed in the back against the dunes! This would probably count as a tent…

@PeacefulEasy “Cabanas/canopies/ tents shall be erected in a single line in the back row, parallel to the ocean between the trashcan poles, and no larger that 12’ x 12’ in overall footprint.
Wind-driven shading devices with two points of contact, or anchored with tie-downs, can be placed anywhere on the beach strand, forward the emergency access”
@maxim0512
Especially since the Amazon, EBay, and Verdi listings all say that the “product size” is 20 X 20 CM in size, which = 7.87 x 7.87 inches. [sarcasm mode active]

@chienfou @kuoh @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy @UncleVinny Things will not turn out well if I deploy this and then open the convertible top.
@kuoh @Kyeh @MrGoodGuy @UncleVinny
@chienfou Their landscaper got deported.
I think I’ll try this as a catchphrase when using the ATM.
Somehow I never noticed that the Meh.com editorial team has staked out a position on the Oxford comma.
@UncleVinny and huzzah for the position they’ve staked out!
@UncleVinny #TeamOxfordComma
@lilgreenfish @UncleVinny
22 people starred my support of the Oxford comma?! I am humbled to know I am in the company of so many friends and compatriots.
@ItalianScallion @lilgreenfish @UncleVinny Needless to say, considering how few people raised in the smartphone era believe in using any punctuation at all, making a stand is all the more important!
@UncleVinny
The correct position…
IMHO.
How in the hell is this not in the $10-20 range? Who in their right mind would spend $100, let alone $40 at a clearing house, on this kind of junk?
@zxinfinity
So far this many bought it at $40. Seems like a good deal to me but I don’t go to the beach.
@yakkoTDI @zxinfinity meh shoppers have, on average, appalling taste, and will buy the most reprehensible janky crap imaginable. (Meh forum commenters, on the other hand, are, on average, mustachio-twirling sophisticates of the highest order!)
@UncleVinny @yakkoTDI @zxinfinity And also will pay for a blindly selected item that may or may not be trash that actually has to be paid for to discard

Did you possibly mean attest to their efficacy?
and next time you try to use it?
@PhysAssist
Right on both counts. Glad you were able to figure it out.

@chienfou
No worries, I just wanted to be sure that I understood what you meant, and absolutely no criticism was intended.
It sounds like you’ve been productively busy, so you’re entitled to slough the proofreading in my book.

@rustyh3 is it not possible to only use one pole and set this up as a shibumi?
@djslack
It didn’t clearly show that as an option in the images posted, so it’d probably void any warranty to use it like that.
@djslack @PhysAssist
So wait 3 months then go for it. That’s when the warranty runs out anyway
@chienfou @djslack

Immediate Castaway product selection.
Think of the workout you’ll get chasing this thing down the beach, hoping all the while it doesn’t kill somebody!
/showme qualitative-liable-quicksand
@kevo152 Hmm, seems like even the bot is concerned about liability issues…
I like how all the marketing material says it sets up in “just four steps” with no information about what those steps are.
@ravenblack they’re documented in one of the images.
I live in a beach community and the famous version of this are found everywhere, while tents are only allowed in the back against the dunes! This would probably count as a tent…
.
@readnj Which is wild — on a breezy day, the flap-flap-flapping hits jet engine levels, like it’s auditioning for takeoff.
@PeacefulEasy seriously
@PeacefulEasy @readnj
Seems somewhat unnecessarily discriminatory against 4-legged structures by arbitrarily calling them all tents.
@readnj - if you live in North Carolina I’m pretty sure I know where. All the new rules are pretty crazy. Especially the parking mess.
There’s no way this provides 150 sq. ft. of shade. Look at the pictures. Maybe 40 sq. ft.?
@maxim0512 Perhaps that was an estimate of the volume of disparaging comments thrown in the forum?
@maxim0512
Especially since the Amazon, EBay, and Verdi listings all say that the “product size” is 20 X 20 CM in size, which = 7.87 x 7.87 inches. [sarcasm mode active]
Likely package size vs. actual product size.

It does happen occasionally to me as well.
