Over medium eggs (runny yolks, firm whites), rye toast, homefries, sausage or bacon, coffee or orange juice.
Finding a diner that can make perfect eggs consistently is tough though.
@LeviOhPlz A cook at a diner has gotta fry up a couple hundred eggs a day. You would think they’d eventually figure it out, right? Firm white, soft yolk. It’s not rocket science kids! I can do it at home and I only cook eggs a couple times a year. SMH
@LeviOhPlz@ruouttaurmind The problem is when you are cooking a ton of eggs at once. And the grill doesn’t heat evenly. And they all weren’t put on at once…
@LeviOhPlz i agree - over medium is exactly how i like my eggs too, but sometimes even explaining what that means is a challenge (and a red flag) - no, i don’t want sunny side up, no, i don’t want hard fried eggs, etc.
i always am super appreciative whenever i go someplace that gets it right and without a hassle.
@RiotDemon In that case, I consider “skillet” to be an adjective and not a noun. The actual skillet is right there in the picture, with all the food in it.
@DrWorm@RiotDemon What I hate is when I order an ice cream cone, and they always stuff all that ice cream in it.
I didn’t ask for ice cream! I asked for the cone, dammit!
And they ask, “Do you want chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry?”
I WANT CONE-FLAVOR, YOU IMBECILE!
I’m sure it exists, but I’ve never seen a strawberry-flavored ice cream cone. Just people trying to sneak extra crap in my cone. If I wanted ice cream, I’d order ice cream.
Why is everyone a moron but me?
Huevos y papas con chorizo breakfast tacos and chocolate milk (lactose free if possible). Throw a nice spicy green sauce on the tacos, and baby, you got a stew going!
Eggs scrambled with chopped red onion and peppers on a bed of sauteed baby greens, fruit, lotsa coffee (with heavy cream), fresh orange juice.
Bacon is still on the pig where it belongs.
/giphy pig dirty look
@Fuzzalini@lljk So true! I love going here (central NC), it’s one of my favorite places. There’s practically a guarantee that some older black lady will call me baby or honey, and it makes my freaking day.
Depends on where I go. Our usual spot does the French Toast Club: four triangles of French toast, bacon, and eggs. They also give you fresh fruit and chips & salsa - yes, even with breakfast. I love that place.
Our every-now-and-then spot does the Haystack: biscuits and gravy on the bottom, a layer of home fries over that, with a couple of fried eggs on top.
Surprised nobody has mentioned either a “St. Louis slinger”, or sometimes it’s cousin, “SOS”.
Shout out to the 504 for coffee with chicory (Community in my house) and any variation of eggs with hollandaise sauce. My fave is Eggs Sardou with fried ersters on top.
@rockblossom Yeah, I was wondering who has time or inclination to go out for breakfast. Apparently, it’s everybody but the two of us.
I will definitely order off the breakfast menu if it’s available at dinner, if it’s available on the rare occasion I go out for that meal, either.
@Limewater@rockblossom my mom has been going to breakfast with my godmother (her bff) and a sometimes rotating cast of mutual friends every saturday morning for over thirty years!
me on the other hand - going out to breakfast is something i really love, but my partner and i only get around to it a handful of times per year.
@jerk_nugget@Limewater My reasons for breakfast at home are 3D: diet, distance, and disposition. Celiac, so there aren’t many places I can safely eat out. I live in the country, so even the nearest diner that serves breakfast is 18 miles away, and one that is safe is about 25. I’m also unfit to deal with people in the morning before ingestion of some solid protein and sufficient caffeine. The first two can be fixed by selling my house and moving, but the third, alas, cannot. I can only go out for breakfast after I’ve had breakfast. I suppose I really need to move to Hobbiton, where the concept of Second Breakfast is understood.
@Limewater@rockblossom i can understand that. we live in the boston area so there are lots of places that have great food (and i don’t have the added issue of dietary restrictions) but you couldn’t pay me to go there on a weekend morning where it’s super crowded with long wait times and no parking. so when we do go out to breakfast it’s because we’re on vacation or visiting parents or something where it isn’t overwhelming and won’t have the fun sucked out of it before we even get in the door
at our old apartment we had one place that was excellent that would deliver breakfast, that was great. our current place doesn’t have any breakfast delivery options though, alas. we did have a local bagel place that would deliver fresh bagels and cream cheese and lox, but sadly they decided they no longer wanted to work with grubhub so there went that. (and again i’m not inclined to drive down there myself and deal with people and parking before i’ve eaten!)
@AnnaB@SenorYEETZ chilaquiles is basically chips mixed with salsa. (salsa is cooked and the chips mixed in at the end while still on the heat, best if both are homemade imho.) they’re really good.
there’s also migas, strips or pieces of tortillas cooked with eggs.
Diner breakfast- scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Cafe breakfast- burrito with scrambled eggs, cheese, peppers , onions, salsa and crumbled corn bread, in a red pepper wrap…hold the sausage…
Chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, and extra crispy hash browns with two basted eggs. Maybe a side order of bacon too.
Though I very rarely eat breakfast at all, and don’t eat out much either.
steak, eggs, bacon, hash browns with onions.
@duodec And fruit, and maybe sausage too. All gluten free.
Biscuits and gravy with extra sausage on the side, of course!
/image Biscuits and gravy
@PurplePawprints sub out the biscuits and gravy for bacon, you’ve got a meal!
Something simple like an egg sandwich, but like, 4 of them.
@cpierce bacon. You’re missing bacon.
@elimanningface Of course, breakfast meat has to be involved. I hate when they ask you “bacon or sausage?” What’s with this “or” crap? I want BOTH.
Biscuits with sausage gravy, hash browns, and two eggs. Coffee
@benj you too are missing bacon.

@LeviOhPlz I’m confused to why you used ‘or’ instead of ‘and.’ I think ‘and’ is grammatically correct - sausage and bacon.
@LeviOhPlz @ruouttaurmind The problem is when you are cooking a ton of eggs at once. And the grill doesn’t heat evenly. And they all weren’t put on at once…

What do I get? Usually stuck with the check. #cheapfriends
@ruouttaurmind What do I get?
Someone else to pick up the check.
Actually, I am going out to breakfast tomorrow, so I’ll take one of each of the above mentioned. Oh, and the check goes to @ruouttaurmind.
@Barney
3 over easy - 2 pancakes - home fries - 4 sausage links - whole wheat toast with butter and strawberry jam - coffee with milk, leave the pot.
@Nate311 you three are missing bacon.
@elimanningface
A skillet?
To me, “skillet” is a flat-bottomed pan. Eating one would be next to impossible.
Is this a regional colloquialism for some sort of breakfast dish?
@DrWorm

@mvalleeis you four are missing bacon.
I just want coffee…dammit.
@Shrdlu …and bacon.
@elimanningface @Shrdlu and those skillet fries looked tasty too…and dammit…just get me a cheeseburger…
Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay sauce, garnished with truffle pâté, brandy and a fried egg on top, and Spam
@rand3y …don’t forget the bacon.
@elimanningface
I’ve changed my mind. I’m having spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, spam, spam, spam, and spam!
Sure you want to change your order?
@aetris Pretty, but the egg looks cold. Fancy plating is for foods that don’t cool too fast, or are eaten cold.
@moondrake - Cold egg? Send it back at once.

Veggie omelette with chile con queso, bacon on the side.
If carbs don’t matter, pancakes with lots of butter and real maple syrup with bacon on the side. Or biscuits and gravy.
Eggs scrambled with chopped red onion and peppers on a bed of sauteed baby greens, fruit, lotsa coffee (with heavy cream), fresh orange juice.
Bacon is still on the pig where it belongs.
/giphy pig dirty look
Depending on the restaurant, Corned beef hash. Otherwise something with sausage definitely and hopefully bacon too!
Bacon cheeseburger muffins.
@mike808 you have my vote!
Why choose between sweet and savory? Go to Waffle House, get the All-Star Special, and you’ll run the gamut of breakfast foods!
@lljk See above. Add maple syrup. Ta Da!
@lljk With a side of sass. I wish we had Waffle Houses here.
@Fuzzalini @lljk So true! I love going here (central NC), it’s one of my favorite places. There’s practically a guarantee that some older black lady will call me baby or honey, and it makes my freaking day.
The octopus. Duh.
Nope. User name doesn’t check out.

Because screw you, arteries. Screw you to hell.
All of these things and the rest of the food my wife couldn’t finish.
@Ray21104 I agree, where is the “all of the above in one sitting” option. Because, well, I’m not not fat…
Biscuits and gravy, mmmm…
I agree with @Ray21104 and have to vote for all the above.
/youtube Breakfast of Booze - Epic Meal Time
@MagnaVis because eggs suck…why do all the breakfast foods have to have eggs…theres other forms of protein people!..like cheeseburgers!
Denny’s value slam. Two pancakes, two bacons, two eggs over easy.
I go to taco bell and get the breakfast crunch-wrap. It has eggs, bacon, cheese, and a whole hash brown wrapped in a tortilla. It’s my favorite
I prefer to have breakfast at home, where I don’t have to pay $3 + tax and tip for a cup of tea.
Winter: tomato, spinach and goat cheese frittata with deli pepper bacon
Summer: berries and cream
Salmon cakes with eggs.
2 Eggs over medium. 3 Slices of Bacon, chewy, like, as rare and you can legally serve it to me chewy, and a single pancake.
But I’ve been doing Bulletproof coffee for a few days.
got to get a little bit of everything. pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast or homefries.
occasionally if there’s a french toast special that looks really good i’ll get that.
@jerk_nugget I like your style, Ms Nugget.
Um. Where’s the: “I don’t go out for breakfast.” answer?
@rockblossom at the bottom “Who eats breakfast”
@SenorYEETZ No. I eat breakfast. I just don’t GO OUT for it. Ever.
@rockblossom Oh I see
@rockblossom Yeah, I was wondering who has time or inclination to go out for breakfast. Apparently, it’s everybody but the two of us.

There’s a little diner type of place here that does amazing chilaquiles and eggs. Red or green. I go with red and scrambled eggs
@AnnaB What is a chilaquile? It sounds good, is it a Mexican food?
@AnnaB @SenorYEETZ chilaquiles is basically chips mixed with salsa. (salsa is cooked and the chips mixed in at the end while still on the heat, best if both are homemade imho.) they’re really good.
there’s also migas, strips or pieces of tortillas cooked with eggs.
@jerk_nugget @SenorYEETZ also they often have onions and cheese
I can never choose between sweet and savory! It’s always such a conundrum. But if they have bloody caesars, I will always get one of those!
Denver omelette, extra cheese.
I’m on keto, so meat and eggs oh how I want a pancake w butter or some crispy hash browns!!
steak and eggs or shrimp and grits…
Eggs Benedict with spinach and smoked salmon
For years it’s been peach crepes, but my favorite place took them off the menu sobs. I haven’t found a good replacement.
Diner breakfast- scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Cafe breakfast- burrito with scrambled eggs, cheese, peppers , onions, salsa and crumbled corn bread, in a red pepper wrap…hold the sausage…
