Bought these last time for something to carry with my chrome book that I didn’t care about breaking. Sound isn’t great, but definitely passable for when I want a little more sound. No complaints on the price.
These are the worst!!! The first pair I got quit working when I left them on beach and washed away… the second pair flat out quit working after being dropped from a 20 story building.
Guess I’m glad I bought the blue ones in April. They’re okay. The stereo stuff is overrated. They’re better than crappy laptop speakers, and slightly worse than good ones. Nice and portable, if you like that kind of thing. I used them with my Thinkpad a little, then got a laptop with better speakers.
Meh, but a cheap meh. Blue’s the best color, though.
I just bought one because I was at a pool party with my Banana Boat Bluetooth Ball and everybody loved that it floats in the pool (it did surprisingly well). The only downside was the battery died about three hours in, I had not just charged it so no idea how long it had been. Anywho, giving the host a pair of crap seems like a good way to waste $4. @KDemo yeah, it’s kinda cool. Good for an office or something where you don’t have your usual surround sound speakers setup, so you can still listen to music.
The one I have is crazy loud too. I never expected so much from little speakers.

I probably wouldn’t pay full price for another one because occasionally it’ll desync itself and I have to reboot it. But you can hardly find floating shelves for $25 anyway, so I don’t mind rebooting it sometimes.

Fyi, I usually listen to metal, and it’s perfectly fine for that. Listening to YouTube videos is great. Listening to bass music sounds a bit distorted. This will not compare to something with a subwoofer.
Also, the button to pair is tiny like a pen point and hard to push. It doesn’t feel like I’m pushing it in at all. For $25 I’m happy with it. For $60 I would probably be annoyed with it.
@KDemo I noticed in the reviews that someone else bought them at Lowe’s for $25 also. Lowe’s must of bought a bunch and when they weren’t up to par for the $60 price tag, decided to dump them all.
@RiotDemon@kdemo Oh, we’ve seen a number of other BT speaker configurations, believe me, but not this particular one. The way I look at something like this is it seems to solve a problem that doesn’t exist, especially for $60. For $25, it’s about inline with a floating shelf of this size if you shop around a little, with a little added bonus. BUT, for $10 or $15, I think a lot of people would spring for something like this that they weren’t even considering buying until it popped up in front of them at 11:00pm CDT

Although not orange, I have a set in purble, yes purble–highly collectible and sought after, although I’ve heard the sonic resonances of orange are far,far superior. X-mini max’s are certainly a rite of passage here, and I’d like to suggest to the powers that be that “X-mini MAX” be available as a forename or “Christian name” to those of us who own a pair, or two, or three. This is one of many recent days I’m glad I cancelled my VMP. Otherwise I might be tempted by how cheap it is and they have free shipping. But these speakers are pieces of shit I’m sure! So seriously don’t waste your money, donate to your favorite cause if you’re going to spend it anyway!
@RiotDemon We use them for a bunch of things. My girlfriend uses them for her audio books constantly since they are light and portable. I use the other set with my laptop when I watch movies on it. We’re not audiophiles, so we’ve used them when watching movies on our TV as well.
I’d like to have another pair in the garage for when I’m working on my bikes and cars and they are better than the crap speakers I have there now. Having a couple of spares is nice, since they are battery powered and 5 sets is less than I’d normally pay for set of cheap computer speakers.
I could use these with the 2, still unopened, XtremeMac Blutooth Home Connect Audio Receivers I bought here back in 2014 and turn a bad idea into a terrible one.

I bought just a blue one last time around and have been waiting on this sale again. They are not shitty, they are amazingly great, better than my laptop speaker and clearer than my Bose lifestyle 50 when the volume is low… I’m not saying this is better than my home theater system, but in low volumes, it is clearer (I guess it is right in front of me), and I just absolutely love them! Bought 3 this time.

@Jdub The charge lasts around 24 hours of music. I don’t remember the last time I charged it. Takes around 5-8 hours to fully charge from dead.
Stereo? I’m not sure. I guess I’d have to find a song with very clear left/right distinction to test this.

Got a couple extras rather than just one. As backups to extend the battery life since we always seem to forget to charge speaker batteries.
And at 4 bucks each they’re practically disposable when the battery runs out.

I bought just a blue one last time around and have been waiting on this sale again. They are not shitty, they are amazingly great, better than my laptop speaker and clearer than my Bose lifestyle 50 when the volume is low… I’m not saying this is better than my home theater system, but in low volumes, it is clearer (I guess it is right in front of me), and I just absolutely love them! Bought 3 this time.
@neo1001 I work in IT, and have a dumpy laptop for “auxiliary” reasons you can say. The speakers are crap, so I was hoping to see this review.

What’s the over/under on this strange, proprietary cable breaking?
i charged both speakers via the double-headed wire all last night and found that only 1 of them works when i used them today. i got the orange pair.

@vigneshrk I had the same problem; one seemingly wouldn’t charge. Then I left it connected overnight to a high-capacity (2.1A) charger and it seems fine now. Playing some Thelonius Monk on four of 'em right now (use the special cable to get stereo).
