I got my meh puck!!! Slight delay because the substitute mail carrier decided to take it on a mail adventure and go to my neighbors’ first. The other one I own is sitting on my desk at work which probably is covered in dust and spiderwebs by now :’(

@mandirose yes it is! There’s also one of the Rebecca Minkoff tassel charging thingies hanging over by my masks near the door. Didn’t realize that was also in the picture. There’s meh all over this place.
@kerryzero thankful for the Meh community, you all definitely make our job fun! I love seeing the random items that actually get used on a regular basis.

Not sure I believe you. That cat should be stepping on your mute button or keyboard, aggressively purring into your headset while trying to knock it off your head, perched on the back of your chair, or kneeding your lap/arm in a meeting while you try and type so everyone hears you yelp when he/she gets a claw into you. Or my favorite… Calmly sitting next to the mouse pad… With it’s tail in just the right place. That you can’t use the scroll wheel reliably cause hair is on it and are forced to pet him to use the mouse. Passive agressive little jerk.
@unksol he had just left the keyboard, where he was trying to warm his butt while trying to keep me from trying to type (he has sent some unsavory (altho only in cat language, thank goodness) messages to people at work on occasion. He came right back to warm the keyboard — I mean, warm his butt
@kerryzero I have my work laptop hooked up to the USB hub which I switch between my home/work computers cause had to buy my own equipment… plus the laptop keyboard/mouse can be walked on. And another keyboard thing.
Sometimes I just hit enter after the gibberish and say the cat says hi. they’ve all probably heard me scream at least once when the kitten transformed from teddy bear to formula 1 race car with no warning lol.
They’ve never managed to type anything hazerdous while I’m SUed in

And probably about once every week or 2 I have to cover for whatever mess the cats have typed (I don’t want to profile these cats, but they do seem to have simultaneous preferences for satanism and vehicle aerodynamics

@kerryzero I’ve got some nice scratches from the other day when the older cat decided to calmly get down and the younger decided to get down by going explosively straight up for some reason. She miscalculated a little. Oh well.

@kerryzero @unksol Twice I had a (long ago) cat who twice was sleeping in my lap. She suddenly shot straight up in the air (while still sleeping) and than managed to land on her feet on the floor looking totally confused. She then briefly started licking herself before climbing back into my lap.

The "old man"used to make a flying leep to my chest/shoulder when he wanted attention. And I’m 6’4 it was impressive. At 12 he’s just not up for that anymore.

Shelter kitty I really wanted to take home a few years ago.
Pretty outdoor kitty who kept climbing up on my deck a few years ago and I meant to steal… But wasn’t sure he just belonged to some kid who was ok with outdoor cats. Too friendly to be feral
There’s a good one of Summer and the old man. She only let me pick her up for a minute or two at a time… But came to bed every night and talked to you. Asshole visitor left a window and door open and she was never seen again

@Kyeh idk if you’ve never met cat owners but there are probably enough to give you kitty photos for eternity if you want. They are always up to something
@unksol Oh, I AM a dedicated long-time cat owner! I could easily become a “crazy” cat lady but I’ve restrained myself to two at a time at most. The last 2 lived to be 19 and 17, respectively, and then for the first time in 40 years I was catless.
But as I hinted above, that may have changed …

@kerryzero Beautiful kitties! So that was Goober who was glaring at you in the picture at the top. That’s great that he likes his harness. It does kind of make him look like a tiny superhero.

@Kidsandliz Gorgeous boy! (I assume it’s a boy??) Nice little star on the forehead. Are the eyes really that blue?
@Kyeh She’s 11 now (about 7ish in photo number 1 and 5 or 6 in photo number 2) and yes her eyes are that blue. She is also cross eyed. (Other photo, for some reason her eyes don’t show as blue and everything in that photo has a yellow cast as her white fur is very white in real life). I am presuming a part lynx siamese. Found her in town at about 6 weeks old in the median strip of the highway in the pouring rain. Don’t know if she was dumped or was feral and got lost (she initially was a terrified wild child).
That second photo I was so lucky to have caught her with the sun just right as she was staring out the window. Except for her eyes it looks almost like a B&W photo. The first photo - well she was up there frequently (blinking red light on the smoke detector attracted her). She’d jump up from the top shelf of a shelf to the left of the door. She then take a flying leap to my bed to get down.
@Kidsandliz Wow, she is a very beautiful cat. That second photo is stunning, a real classic portrait - (you could probably sell prints or cards of it on Etsy… ) What’s her name?
@Kyeh Lizzy. Yes I got very lucky with my photo of her in that second photo. I barely had to crop. The fact that it was taken with an older phone camera I was even more lucky since I couldn’t adjust the shutter speed or anything. Just point and shoot. A really lucky accident. I really like that photo too. Now if I just had one that nice of all my cats.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh Goober very rarely will get super excited and jump from the bed to the top of the open bedroom door. Then give me this look like “what, you should totally try this!!” And then jump back down to the bed. Cats are hilarious

@kerryzero @Kyeh Thanks for the suggestion. I looked on Etsy it looks like any given photo made into cards gets maybe 5-7 sales. The sellers who have hundreds of sales have a ton of different cards. Doesn’t look like I’d make back whatever it would cost to turn this photo into a decent quality card unfortunately.

Lizzy too 🥰 What a gorgeous kitty! Shamrock was also rescued in the rain, in a Walmart parking lot 14 years ago. A lady with a cane was trying to get her away from the cars, and I was trying to help her. Turned out the lady had dogs and didn’t want to risk taking her home, so I took her and intended to take her to the local spca, but Shamrock convinced me to keep her. She started being a snuggle cat in my lap on the ride home, and she has been ever since 
@kerryzero @Kyeh Yeah those strays can really worm their way into your heart. All my kitties are strays.
@kerryzero @Kidsandliz @Kyeh I got the first three while working security at the mall and I meant to turn them over to the local humane society but I just couldn’t. One I had to because I was only allowed 2 cats in the apartment and I already had three.
Someone dumped this gorgeous friendly cat in a pets mart box at like 2AM on the inner ring road. Why they would do that idk. So that one I had to trust them with.
Since then summer and bambi have died but I’ve picked up coco

Here is a photo of the ferals I am feeding until I can figure out how to get them out of there (well and fixed too). They are the ones my friend was feeding for nearly 4 years until the house burned down. Photo is next door as they live under an abandoned house. I’ve seen mama up close as she and my friend’s cat (who died in the fire) had a friendship through the screen door. One kitten (about 2-3 mo; mama is really tiny so the kittens look big by comparison) is really skittish, other one is much braver and mama will get within 4-6’ of me.
@kerryzero @Kidsandliz @Kyeh poor guys. Hard to get a group cause once you grab one the rest might get spooked… It’s easier when they show up by themselves and TNR is an option.
Might only be so much you can do. Outdoor cats always have shorter lives unfortunately. And if you put a trap out you have to check every day. When I’ve deployed mine I usually get a possum or raccoon before I get a cat and might be the wrong cat…
@kerryzero @Kyeh @unksol I hate to think about it. I just don’t want to see any more kitties die. And it is out of my control. Hopefully the rescue group will have a solution. If they were feral and not used to being fed 100% of the time the outcome would be different than starving to death. But they’ve been fed since mama was a kitten so not even sure what kind of hunting skills she has to teach her babies. The cat that died in the fire was a sibling to mama cat.
@kerryzero @Kidsandliz @Kyeh if they’ve got enough people who can take turns and swing by once a day maybe traps are an option. If they get hungry enough might not matter if they get spooked… And since they are kittens might be a little naive.
@kerryzero @Kidsandliz @unksol Wow, so difficult. Good luck with them. I’m not sure but I don’t think we have many feral cats around here - the are a lot of larger predators around, coyotes and bobcats and mountain lions, even owls. That’s why my cats are always strictly indoor cats.

However there are to many outdoor ones to handle that so. TNR programs are good. Nothing wrong with feeding the strays usually. And barn cats are also handy if hunting mice and they have no where else to shelter. If they only know how to survive on handouts it’s… Not great if that gets interrupted like this case

It’s always so hard to see them out there – it’s so frustrating too when I think if it were dogs/puppies, the freaking national guard would probably get called out. But when it’s kittens/cats, it’s so socially acceptable to just not care. Grrrrr!
