For two days in a row woot has a t-shirt with a stylized map of the lower 48 states that they are trying to pass off as America. Did they miss #49 and #50?

Wow. Check out those recommended cook times. One inch thick New York strip cooked to medium rare in 2 minutes?
@ruouttaurmind 1500°F is insane. That’s probably one hell of a sear!
Only problem, it looks tiny. But I guess to keep a full size grill at that kind of temp would require a ridiculous amount of propane.
I would probably impulse buy that at $100 or less just to try it, but at that price I’m happy with the grills I already have.
@djslack The manufacturer claims ‘1500* is the ideal temperature to cook a steak’. If that’s so, and if you can cook a perfect steak in 3 minutes or less, why don’t all the better steakhouses do it this way? Why the heck does it take me 35 or 40 minutes to get my ribeye at Ruth’s Chris or Morton’s?
@ruouttaurmind There is a steakhouse at one of the casinos here named 1800° Prime, so they must be implying they’re overdoing it.
@ruouttaurmind you can’t tell me that a steak and shrimp cook at the same time/temperature. How?
@RiotDemon The cooking shelf is further away from the heat source for shrimp (shelf #2). I’m guessing this lowers the temperature for the shrimp?
@ruouttaurmind I didn’t notice the shelf thing, thanks.
@djslack If it was big enough for a pizza I’d buy it at $100, too, just to try it out. Although heating the stone might take a while.
@djslack @ruouttaurmind Ruth’s Chris does their steaks at 1800 degrees too.
Morton’s isn’t as high. When I worked on one of the projects, no additional consideration beyond a typical commercial kitchen were needed for the fire protection systems.
