wireless headphones....help me replace my Holy Grail
1I have tried many different kinds of bluetooth headphones/earbuds. I never found anything quite so perfect as the LG Force (HBS-S-80). These were perfect because they had ear hooks that were adjustable for an all day comfort fit and different size ear things for dialing in the fit. I never had an issue with them coming off while exercising etc.
My previous pair died when they got caught in the car door and now this pair no longer powers on (light indicates fully charged)
I don’t want wireless earbuds, I like them connected together for longer battery life and security that I won’t drop one when crawling under a car or hiking or whatnot. I don’t do well with the kind that just stick in your ear and I don’t like ones that stick out very far because I fall asleep with them in so I like them to be fairly flat.
My wife likes the Plantronics Backbeats. I’ve used them and didn’t find they were as comfortable…and for $80 they would have to be VERY comfortable.
Anyone have a budget friendly suggestion I should look at?

I was going to say the Motorola s305 but I can’t find them for sale anywhere.
This is what the intertubes came up w/ instead. https://smile.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTH220-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headphone/dp/B005LKB0IU
@njfan Thanks, but I wasn’t specific enough…I still want in-ear headphones, but they need a way to hold around my ears as I have bad luck with ones that just stick in there like some sort of ear canal drain plug.
I don’t have a great suggestion for you. My uses revolve around audiobooks. Do I’m less interested in the subtleties of fidelity, and more in comfort and control. The LG Tone series is perfect for me.
But, if you Google “sports earbud reviews” or similar, you will come up with tons of review pages that go into a lot of detail. You might find your best next set that way.
@f00l I went with the Anker Soundcore Spirit X based on a “top sports earbuds” list. The design isn’t my favorite and the pairing sequence isn’t very helpful but they work well with my phone.
Unfortunately while I can get them to pair with my Windows 10 XPS 13, Microsoft Teams will NOT work with them, no matter what I try. Going to have to call this pair a failure and hope the next pair is better.
Why don’t you get another pair of the LG’s off of eBay? The new ones currently listed don’t look too expensive.
@heartny That is how I got my last pair. I’m thinking I need to find a new favorite, so seeking feedback from other work from home etc users.
Ear hooks, check.
Different size inserts, check.
Budget friendly, check. Don’t forget code cyberweek15.
Any good? I don’t know.
@djslack When I looked at those I didn’t see that they had a microphone. I might have to buy a couple pairs for science.
@tightwad careful, the microphone seems to be the basis for the majority of the negative reviews. But they’re super cheap so it’s not a big risk.
@djslack I forgot I had my Pastadrop coupon still…trying them for $10.83…
@djslack
one of my ear pieces broke in about 2 days
at least i think it was these, looks like them
If you need all day battery check these out…

I’ve had a couple pairs because I literally use them 6 days a week for almost 10 hours each day. Call quality is ok, but the battery life is literally about 14 hours.
Also the Jaybird X3’s and X4’s are pretty close to perfect for a wired wireless headset.
@zinimusprime The Jaybirds are one I have considered as they are at the right junction of price and style…just wishing for my adjustable earhook as that has given the most comfort I have been able to find.
@tightwad If you go with them, use the foam tips when you’re working out. I used the for runs all the time. Also, one of the great things about the LG 835’s is the one ear listening because of the retracting wire.
Btw the earhook ones almost always seem to hurt my ears, but I do like the behind-the-head backbeats. They sound pretty decent also
I just wait for a sale.
@f00l My wife likes the behind the head backbeats. I haven’t like a lot of the earhook ones but the LG Force ones were different. I’m going to try more cheap ones and compare them. After many years with Meh I am accustomed to disappointment.
@tightwad
The backbeats I have use v flexible earhooks. And they fit snug and stay in, which I like.
But every head is individual.
(And they all seem to try to think for themselves, instead of as I instruct them.)
Design flaw? ; )
How about these from RadioShack. Are they still in business? I guess so.

@heartny Still around after a couple of bankruptcies, and just last month purchased by a company that owns other formerly insolvent retailers like Pier 1 and Linens 'n Things.
For earbuds I have a pair of Tozo T6 True Wireless; sounds is good, case is Qi, no issues pairing.
For headphones, I just got my Wyze BT Headphones and they’re amazing. Active sound cancelling, transparent mode, BT5.0, and they go around my ears not on them. Best $50 headphones I’ve ever owned.
