@sammydog01 Any chance of getting a controller board for the drone? Maybe then you could print the housing and solder in the power supply to see if it works.
Some sort of frame or chassis
Motors (4 or 6 is ideal; brushless motors are preferred)
Rotors (propellers) which will mount on the motor shaft
Power distribution module
Motor speed controller
Flight controller
Radio control receiver
Remote control transmitter
This is an oversimplified summary, but gives you the general idea.
@sammydog01 Sounds like you’re a long way from having the bits you need. If the motor shafts have gears on them they are most likely brushed. If the shafts are threaded they are likely brushless.
If you’re curious about building a drone, you can get a complete kit at Aliexpress which will include everything you need, but expect to pay $100-$200 for a basic drone. A bit more if you want FPV video capability.
I’ve lived in Florida for sixteen years, and I still haven’t gotten tired of shaking my head and smiling every time I hear about the bitter cold, blizzards, etc…
I got the following drone parts in my irk:
6 motors
4 propellers
2 arms
6 crown gears
How close am I to building a drone this winter? Can anyone suggest a use for those cute little motors? (I just learned to solder after all.)
@sammydog01 maybe a few more parts?
@sammydog01 Shame they are not baby arms.
@yakkoTDI I bet I could find some baby arms.
@RiotDemon I may have to look around for broken drones cheap.
@sammydog01 Got a 3D printer? I know there are plans for making drone frames…
@sammydog01 @yakkoTDI
Now I want to see a drone made with six baby-doll arms.

@sammydog01 Are the motors brushless?
The primary components of a drone are:
Some sort of frame or chassis
Motors (4 or 6 is ideal; brushless motors are preferred)
Rotors (propellers) which will mount on the motor shaft
Power distribution module
Motor speed controller
Flight controller
Radio control receiver
Remote control transmitter

@ruouttaurmind
I have 6 motors. Pocket camera size. No idea if they have brushes. Also 6 gears for the motors I think to mount the propellers.
4 propellers
2 arms
Looks like I’m missing all the important stuff. I noticed someone got a battery holder in their irk.
I like the motors though. Very magnetic-y.

One of my Winter hobbies is listening to Northerners complain about how cold it is.
Another is doing the same stuff I do the rest of the year while sweating a lot less.
@yakkoTDI
would that be the snowbirds that come to roost in your neck of the woods?
@chienfou Also, the people online that live up North in Vermont, North Dakota, Georgia, New York, etc.
@chienfou @yakkoTDI
Was chilly last night. I put on a hat.
Northern? Maybe.
I might be roughly at a similar latitude to the Mediterranean. Or Morocco.
Haven’t looked it up. Just guessing.
@chienfou @f00l @yakkoTDI
was chilly last night
i put on a t-shirt with sleeves (i.e., not a tank top)
@Cerridwyn
meaning:

a) You normally put on a tank top
or
b) you put on a t-shirt with sleeves (which wasn’t a tank top) instead of nothing??
@chienfou
a lady never tells
but i normally wear sleeveless dresses and had on a tshirt and capris.

Shut up about the hurricanes.
@shahnm OK won’t mention the hurricanes. But what about the bugs?
@pmarin They shouldn’t mention hurricanes either.
