Why is it so upsetting to miss a daily click on a website that in the grand scheme of things makes no difference at all? It’s so annoying yet really means nothing. The human mind is a strange thing sometimes…
@Kyeh It was! This year was much more profitable than last year…Mom made bank on her handmade custom teacup scenes, and I sold almost $200 worth of lower-value vacuum tubes to makers…I didn’t think anyone would want them!
@Kyeh Certainly, I’ll see if I can rustle up some photos! She gets teacups and saucers from thrift stores and garage sales, and uses floral foam and miniatures to create scenes inside the cups! They’re really cute.
Oh I get it! Personal goals I guess, always striving to beat our best. The mind is amazing and all the craziness that goes through it intrigues me. I so much wanted to become a phycologist of some sort but I just couldn’t handle the schooling. I was never very good at studying and therefore didn’t do well in school, I didn’t like it!
@Cerridwyn
At 59, not being able to sit in a regular chair or walk 5 feet without having shortness of breath I pretty much think that ship has sailed! … Covid stinks and so does what happened after I got the vaccine! (Plus, I was already physically disabled from a terrible car accident and a TBI.)
Next time around I’m definitely going to do things differently!
@Cerridwyn@Lynnerizer When I went back to finally finish college a few years ago, my classes were 100% online. It was perfect for my ADHD brain: I could do the work when it suited me within the class schedule, and I didn’t have to force myself to drive to campus (I can come up with plenty of reasons to skip class). It was pretty affordable, too. Check out University of Maryland Global Campus.
@Cerridwyn@lisagd@Lynnerizer And stay away from ANY for profit one. Those degrees aren’t worth the paper they are written on, courses are watered down… you will end up with a reasonably useless piece of paper and a lot school debt. If one of your state colleges/universities have online degrees go that route. It will be significantly cheaper.
@Cerridwyn@f00l@Lynnerizer I don’t know the exact title, but software engineering. Not too long after getting the degree he moved up from a technician job to an engineering job.
@blaineg It’s one of the few bragging-rights goals accessible to almost anyone, and not requiring any extravagant paraphernalia or leet skill-building to accomplish.
Blame the goat?

Without a doubt
Same reason it bums me out when I forget to play the Wordle & Connections puzzles of the day. Missing out, I guess.
I assume you just missed one?
@Kyeh I never forget to play those! (Or Mini)
I never forget to check Meh but do forget to click when I start looking at product photos first.
@callow @Kyeh
What’s mini?
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer Daily Mini Crossword. My goal is to solve it less than a minute.
@callow @Kyeh @Lynnerizer I await when the archives are available. So I can binge in peace when I’m in the bathroom.
@Kyeh Yep, it was the Rubbermaid containers. Was so busy working Maker Faire Orlando with Mom all weekend that it just…slipped past me!
@PooltoyWolf Ohhh - sounds like a fun time though!

@PooltoyWolf “handmade custom teacup scenes”? Those sound interesting - would your mom allow us to see some?
@Kyeh Certainly, I’ll see if I can rustle up some photos! She gets teacups and saucers from thrift stores and garage sales, and uses floral foam and miniatures to create scenes inside the cups! They’re really cute.
@PooltoyWolf That sounds really charming!

@Lynnerizer school has changed, self paced programs exist.
go for it
check open university
if you can afford it check WGU
@Cerridwyn @Lynnerizer A friend got an engineering degree from WGU some years ago, and it’s served him well.

@lisagd @Lynnerizer
Exactly. WGU does that as well.
And open University has no face to face it is all distance. There are a ton out there.

Which WGU degree did well for your friend?
@Cerridwyn @f00l @Lynnerizer I don’t know the exact title, but software engineering. Not too long after getting the degree he moved up from a technician job to an engineering job.
@blaineg @Cerridwyn @Lynnerizer
Cool it’s good to know those degrees can work for being hired.
It matters so much because the stakes are so low.
@blaineg It’s one of the few bragging-rights goals accessible to almost anyone, and not requiring any extravagant paraphernalia or leet skill-building to accomplish.
It bothers me a lot less than having a pile of soft-serve 2girls1cup for my user icon, which is a low bar already.
Why does it matter when our favourite sport team loses?
It does… But why? Their glory or shame doesn’t really make a difference to us.
In my experience, this is something you can break free from worrying about.
@806D2701 If anyone needs a sock to assist them in breaking the grip of this self-imposed obligation, I can assist.
It’s the same reason we keep buying IRKs when we know the odds are stacked against us - addiction
@ybmuG
With iRKs they used to be the competition contest aspect of it
Then after they change the original way they used to do them and I never got one anymore. I quit trying because it was a bummer.

It has been years. It bothers me that I forget to do it!
