@hchavers All joking aside, they can tell when you ignore a call and it registers your number active so you keep getting calls. Hit the volume button and wait out the call to go to voicemail. After a couple of weeks you’ll notice less calls (until the next company buys your phone number).
Edit: this is what I have been told by a very smart and well read individual. I also can say that while it hasn’t stopped all robocalls, it’s definitely worked in reducing them.
@hchavers
Well I must admit there sure is some major satisfaction with slamming the phone in their ear after several calls a day on the landline! Like the kind of satisfaction that can’t be found with any cellphone! I can’t stand telemarketers!! With a passion!! Even when I answer the phone nicely and ask them very politely to take me off their list they STILL hang up in my ear. So of course the next one who calls gets slammed with me and my pissy attitude. There’s just NO WINNING for any sales person calling me these days. And yes, I am on the national do not call list, here is their number for anyone who’s interested. 1-888-382-1222
I’ll look into smartwatches once somebody makes one that can go several months on a charge. Until then, I’ll keep using watches that don’t need electricity.
@brennyn garmin watches can last about 3 weeks in low power mode, but if you’re getting one of those, your using it for running / fitness and having all of those on. Though even with 3-4 tracked runs a week, the battery still lasts a week.
all of the above.
I love my Fitbit Sense.
by far the best Smartwatch i’ve owned. Hasn’t Bogged down yet, I get an honest 4 days from the Battery, not the 8-10 Hrs I’d get on any of the previous ones i’ve had.
Ive had:
Moto360
Moto360 2nd Gen
TicWatch Pro(2018)
and Currently
Fitbit Sense.
In point of fact, I don’t like either of the smart watches that I have. And I haven’t seen one that I really would like, so far. They’re all too bloody big and bulky, and most of of the ones that have a reputation are so ridiculously overpriced for what they deliver that there’s no way I’m going to buy them. The one in today’s sale at least has the virtue of being inexpensive. And I have one, and it spends most of its time off of my wrist. So it goes.
I use a garmin 735xt (running watch) and I love it for the health/fitness tracking and GPS tracking during my runs. It has notification functions and I shut all of that off. I used to have a Huawei android watch and I liked it, but the batter lasted a day (barely). The biggest reason I liked it was for my grocery list OurGroceries. Side plug for that app, it’s awesome and the list sharing functionality is really good. Outside of that, I don’t really want notifications on my wrist so I’m not sure I’ll ever get a non-fitness smart watch again.
My Fitbit has really helped me realize I wasn’t getting enough sleep. Once I saw how much sleep I was actually getting, I added another half hour or more and I don’t need to sleep the weekend away.
All of the above, general fitness tracking, the blood oxygen monitor has actually been helpful in letting me know that my exercise quality hasn’t been as good as it could be, I like that I can pay for things without removing a mask or typing in a passcode. I like responding to texts from my wrist, etc.
Because I don’t own one of those stupid things.
To reject spam calls from my wrist.
@hchavers
My new phone does that for me! I think I might be special…
…or not!
@Lynnerizer There’s a satisfaction with swiping left on a spammer.

@brennyn I charge my Fitbit every time I shower. Even if I’m lazy and don’t shower for a day, the battery never goes before 75%
Ability to pay without a card or wallet and leave my phone at home when cycling.
all of the above.

I have one of those cheap ones that I got in an Irk. It’s in a box somewhere. It doesn’t bother me, and I don’t bother it.

I like the various health- and fitness-tracking features. If the watch disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn’t go into mourning, but I do like having it.

WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
I don’t have one but I’d like one especially for walking so I’m not messing with my phone.

I like it because it holds my hand. (Well, my wrist, anyway.)
