Why do men's shirts go to 4x but women's only go to 3x?
7Wondering why meh shirts go all the way to 4x for men but only 3x for women. For those that would say women who need a 4x should just order a men’s shirt - believe me when i tell you that the men’s shirts aren’t cut for large breasted women’s bodies.

Yes yes yes
Ask Next Level. Their women’s size stops at 3xl.
They probably used Hanes brand shirts for the printing. Hanes has some bullery going on that they have the mens/‘unisex’ max out at 4xl, but the women’s max out at 3xl. So blame Hanes or @OnionSoup.

@OnionSoup wears socks with sandals.
@triavalon they’re Next Level. See above.
@RiotDemon Yup, or see the product information details on any of the mehranthon item pages today. I screwed that one up.

Men Boobs. Enuff said.
@Some_meh while i thought of that - the “unisex” thing really doesn’t cut it - no man has boobs this big!
The women’s sizes are so strange. A 3x is equivalent in length to a men’s size small, and close to men’s size large in the bust.
@tinkertime
That totally sux.
@tinkertime Yeah they really need to get some blanks for their shirts that are “standard” sizing. Though they warn people they are sized small for women that is not the same. It just means larger women have no size in womens that will fit them.
@Kidsandliz @tinkertime sounds a lot like Costco
being a big girl myself, i like to shop on-line for clothes. i think they are missing a huge market here (pun intended or not?).
@GBrunner321 I end up buying guy’s shirts because most women’s shirts are too short for me being 5’10". I have a few shirts from torrid that are long enough, but that’s about it.
Not that I’m staff, but from my years of knowing the business, let me take some time to spell all this out:
Learn to ignore what the size says. Apparel in general, one brand’s small is another brand’s medium is another brand’s large, and so on. For both men or women, never count on “standard sizing”; always refer to the sizing charts.
For the imprint industry, most of the women’s blanks are sized to be more petite. Some brands do distinguish between “women” and “petite” (juniors), as there are differences in their cut too, but generally speaking, it’s been more common for the more full figured to accept wearing a unisex shirt versus the more petite to resort to wearing a children’s shirt. Selling the latter also has implications when it comes to meeting compliance standards.
Without resorting to custom manufacturing (which costs $$$) and/or a full catalog from multiple brands, there’s no pleasing everyone – because everybody’s body is different.
So with all that said, the current offerings by meh/Mediocritee is based on years of past experience, some from shirt.woot, some from TeeTurtle, some from the sidelines seeing how other crowdsourced sites operate. Both sites have had changed blanks at some point or another – some better accepted than others (coughAnvilcough). Perhaps in the future, there can be more offerings; until meh/Mediocritee makes it big, though, this is the best compromise that can be offered.
@narfcake
I think some of these companies also think of men’s sizing as the “norm”. And women’sand children’s clothes are sort of alternatives line’s of secondary importance.
And they know that many women will stop expecting women’s clothing to actually fit, and just buy men’s sizes instead.
