Why did anyone ever like two metal bottle caps?
11I picked two bottle caps from a bin at walmart once and tried it. I found it wholly unsatisfying. others have done the same with the same result.
As far as “fidgets” go, I think fidget spinners are far superior to two bottle caps. You can spin them from the center, or from one radius, you can spin them all sorts of ways, there are a variety of textures, colors, lights, speakers and edges, and they make a pleasing sound when they are perfectly balanced.

I just nervously chew my fingernails like a normal person.
@bramby2 I’ll trade you grape for root beer… deal?
@bramby2 @thismyusername I’d take that deal any day.
@thismyusername Root Beer are the best, aren’t they? Grape is good. Cherry and Orange are just meh.
In fact, I wouldn’t put it past Meh to sell 10 pound bags of just Cherry and Orange flavor bottle caps. Yeah sure, you like bottle caps, but why can’t Meh sell “the good flavors?”
Cola flavor can suck it.
@bramby2 @thismyusername But, I like the cola ones too. Anyone else remember when they changed Bottlecaps several years back? They got smaller and lost most of the defining ridge shape. Also, I like the ones that aren’t highly compressed and just sort of immediately break apart into powder in your mouth.
@bramby2 @thismyusername I would buy this!
@bramby2 @cinoclav @thismyusername This guy gets it!! I thought for sure it was just me…
I’m saving my bottle caps for the apocalypse.
I always get my bottle caps for free from my Rebel cola.
what is this? you spin a cap like a top, on its side or top of the cap, or what? why two? they sell these just for this purpose? is this a pet rock level thing?
I saw “Two Metal” and immediately thought of…“I love both kinds of music…Heavy & Metal!!”
they didn’t have these fidget spinners, cubes back when I fidgeted with bottle caps back in the early 60s.
@lseeber
I remember fidgeting with rocks and dirt back in the early 1960’s.
Perhaps your “childhood social norms for kids running loose” expected better manners than mine, or something.
@f00l Nah… we fidgeted with rocks and dirt too. My brother and I used to love to take big rocks and smash smaller rocks on the stone wall to see what they looked like inside.
Too exotic for me.
peer pressure.
What exactly does one do with two metal bottle caps?

@medz fidget
@medz @Seeds You face the ridged sides together and try to get them to sort of lock into one another (not to stay… just to fit). The little ridges should fit nicely into one another like clockworks.
@lseeber @Seeds Ok. I’ll try it.
@lseeber @medz it can be satisfying just to spin them around a little in your hand too- the ridges rubbing together and against your palm is a nice tactile sensation along with the very quiet little clinks it makes. I always do it one handed, and I think using two hands feels awkward, but no reason not to try different things to see what works.
@medz @Seeds I actually haven’t done it for about 45 yrs so… no idea what people do with them these days.
@lseeber @medz haha I have no idea if there’s a “correct” or usual way to do it anyway. I just have a habit of picking up whatevers around me and fidgeting with it, and I’ve found two bottle caps to be my favorite.
Anyway, I doubt the caps have changed too much in the last 45 years. Maybe the plastic liner?
@medz @Seeds Ha… I’m sure there is no correct way of doing it, lol. That’s just basically what we all did with them back then. And no… don’t think they’ve changed much… except that they can be unscrewed now.
@lseeber @medz @Seeds Yeah, I collected stuff as a kid, and bottle caps were reusable for a plethora of projects!
I collected bottles by the side of the road, but also saved bottle caps to play with or just to fill my pockets.
I never went anywhere without looking for bottles that I could sell back for BIG MONEY!
The older cork bottle caps probably did fidget better than these new-fangled ones now…
@daveinwarsh @lseeber @medz @Seeds
I counted 'stangs.

@daveinwarsh @medz @Seeds Oh yeah… returning those bottles kept me in Bazooka!
@daveinwarsh @f00l @medz @Seeds Oh… I’d love to have anywhere from a '64 1/2 to a 66 pony! Now that I can afford one again, I’m too old and would look stupid. Used to drive a '65 metal flake maroon.
@daveinwarsh @lseeber @medz Cork caps looks like they’re actually look they’re worth a little money now- couple bucks a pop on ebay.
@daveinwarsh @lseeber @Seeds Did chunks of cork ever fall into the beverage when removing the cap? Plastic seals seem much cleaner.
@daveinwarsh @medz @Seeds Really? huh. I forgot all about them until you mentioned them.
@daveinwarsh @medz @Seeds Never in one of mine.
