Who's got the stones to build this one?
2Looks like a pretty simple design, but it appears whatever flight controller he’s using is not up to the task to accommodate all that weight.
@sportykev, when you do yours, I encourage you to consider a design with the pilot seat BELOW the rotors.
@djslack, remember the thread a couple months ago about brushless electric lawnmower motors and batteries? Whaddaya think? Can you turn up half a dozen of them?
Let’s see… @DJMajickMan is too skeptical, @garyhgaryh is too sensible… Who else can I taunt into the Drone Pirate fleet? LOL!

I definitely don’t have the stones for that one. I’ve had my share of death traps in my day, and that is definitely a death trap.
I don’t think that his FC isn’t up to the weight; it’s that gas motors don’t respond as quickly and don’t have the same instant torque as brushless electric motors so his PIDs are probably badly tuned. This could be done but it won’t have the responsiveness of an electric multi.
But I definitely have to give the guy credit for coming up with something and executing. Flawed though the concept might be, that guy has flown on a multirotor he built on his own.
@djslack “I’ve had my share of death traps in my day”
I’ll have to dig out my “redneck saw of death” video and share it here. Chain broke on my chainsaw and I didn’t have a spare. I fitted a 9" circular saw blade to a 7" body grinder so I could finish the task at hand. Talk about deathtrap… it’s a wonder I didn’t lose a limb!
I agree… he had an idea, executed a design and was (partially) successful. I’m sure with more development time he’ll optimize his configuration.
Like @DJMajickMan commented, and what I suggested to @sportykev “put the rotors on top and the seat below.” Something way too frightening about staring down at those rotors just a couple feet from your face ready to carve you up.
Still not the design I’m looking at. I want the blades above my head by a few feet so should on fly off it’s above me, not something that could fly at me.
@DJMajickMan Just imagined one of those motor mounts breaking and that gas powered motors landing in your lap as you tilt uncontrollably. I’d be less worried about the inevitable crash, and more concerned about my junk!
Similar situation in China. This guy obviously saw the potential for disaster and decided to quit while he was ahead!
Uhh I’m scared just looking at that… No stones here :*(
