It was sent to “Gal Maegi” so I’m pretty sure it’s from one of our community members. Good thing that person knows how to spell my username!

Ooh there’s an idea, everybody on the site could buy Meh random magazine subscriptions. jetBlue has been bugging me to use my miles to buy magazines for a month or so now…
@jbartus is that so you don’t use your miles for flying?

My wife seems to have the same thing but with the opposite level of enthusiasm. Somehow she has had a subscription to ELLE magazine for about 2 years now that she never requested and that she dumps immediately into the recycle bin. And for the unfamiliar, that publication is usually a real brick . . . About 1/2" to 3/4" thick (85% Ads) and weighs like five pounds. Is strange situation indeed. Attempts to figure out and stop result in >>> ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@Oldfeet when my ex moved out, they only forward your subscriptions for a year… So a year later, I suddenly started getting the Red Bull Bulletin. After about 8 months of throwing it into the recycling bin, I was annoyed enough to email them and tell them to stop sending it to my address because they were wasting paper.
I really couldn’t of cared less if my ex was getting charged for it.
@Oldfeet I still have magazines (en espanol) addressed to the previous residents at my house.

I get a bunch of unsolicited industry periodicals at work. Some of them look pretty expensive to be sending to potentially non-interested people. When I get the phone call to “renew” (I’m pretty sure some of those are for mags that I’m not currently getting) they say that if I look at even one page a year it’s worth it to them to keep sending. (Or it’s worth it to the telephone operator to keep their job?) So I still get “Laser Focus World”, “Modern Machine Shop”, etc.
@walarney Their pitch: 98% of our ___ “subscribers” work in this industry! Advertising in our magazine directly targets the folks who can use your products!

Many trade mags get all their revenue from ads. Their rates are determined by circulation. If you asked, perhaps they would pay you to subscribe.
@walarney I think a Meh special on a nice lathe or vertical mill would be very interesting. Even just the tools. I vote for sending lots of trade magazine subs to them for perusal.
Maybe auto repair too.

I’d love to send random things out to some of my forum peeps (almost autocorrected to perps!), but it would never be a surprise because I’d have to ask for addresses…any tips on getting around that? It seems to happen at times so I’m hoping someone can help.
