Where to buy cheap memory foam mattress?
0I’m looking for a new queen-sized mattress. I read the other thread about Purple but was looking for more general advice. I’ve slept on an old-school firm spring bed for years and usually have trouble sleeping on other beds. However, my sis has a firm memory foam mattress that I like. Can my fellow mehmbers suggest where I can get one cheap? Please feel free to tell me all about the online options such as Casper and Purple as well as retail places like Ikea (I live around Dallas). I’m not picky and pretty sure I’ll get used to whatever I buy as long as it’s firm. That being said what are the cheapest options out there and what’s the $# I should be expecting? Thanks!

Woot
I tried three inexpensive memory foam beds and returned them all. The quality of the foam vs. a big brand is very significant, but lots of people are still happy with them. And to be honest, after a year I’m not very happy with my big brand one, so it’s probably me and my back/neck problems. One that I tried where the customer service seemed pretty good was Dreamfoam Bedding. They also have an Amazon storefront.
Try Overstock.com. Great prices, tons of reviews so you can make an educated decision. I have an inexpensive hard bed that I put memory foam pads on, and I buy the pads there. I need a new one, it’s been 6 years…
If you’re used to an innerspring, you may as well stick to that. Generally, foam is not going to be firm, as the memory foam is usually just the top layer.
Ikea: The difference between the $250 HAUGESUND and the $400 HAUGSVÄR is an added layer of memory foam. Buy the lower priced one and add a 3", 3# memory foam topper from Overstock. Mattresses are currently 15% off until 11/15/16 with Ikea Family card, so that’s extra budget friendly – under $300 for both.
@narfcake Thanks! For your first comment: that’s what I would have thought too. I should have been more specific in the OP…I have slept on the memory foam mattress several times at my sister’s house with no issues, despite the fact that I have issues with most other spring beds that aren’t my bed. Hers may even be from Ikea, she’s a fan…I’ll ask her.

@DaveInSoCal ha!!! worth the laugh
Sams and Costco have 'em
The ones at sams are Serta and some other brand… I think a queen serta one at sams goes for around 350.
You said firm… are you sure you want memory foam? when your body heat warms it up you sink into it…
edit: looking at sams website the “other brand” looks like they are around 299 for the 12 inch and 264 for the 9 inch
Another vote for overstock. I bought this one there 2 years ago and it is by far the most comfortable mattress my wife and I have ever slept in. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Island-Dream-Wailea-10-inch-Queen-size-Gel-Memory-Foam-Mattress/9513806/product.html?CID=228583&utm_source=strongview&utm_medium=email&utm_content=e&utm_campaign=t_20150122_orderconf
@Pantheist I went to your link…this item is currently out of stock on Overstock. Yay irony!
@haflander sorry about that. I’m sure there’s something similar. Just take your time looking since mattress manufacturers intentionally make it difficult to compare.
Thanks for this thread, @haflander. I went to overstock.com, found something close to what I wanted, googled for a better match or price, and then found what I was looking for at homedepot. It was just one of those things I hadn’t gotten around to trying to find yet. Yay!
I got the queen foam mattress at Costco a few yrs ago for the guest bedroom. Everyone loves it.
Not good. Company stays too long.
I may have to toss it & put a sheet of plywood instead.
I think they are like $350 or so…
