@sligett DAE: leave work with the anti-static strap still on, leaving your watch on the bench? Happened to me all the time. Get about halfway into the house and realize it when I go to check the time.
Citizen Stiletto is my daily wear. Thin, reasonable diameter, sturdy (sapphire!), about as non-gaudy as they come. There's a more traditional (less black-on-black) version as well. Eco-drive, no battery worries. Fantastic watch.
@mfladd yeah, I wear my eco drive (different model) daily as well. I love the fact that I haven't changed a battery in many years. I used to wear watches with leather bands, but these metallic bands don't break, and they clean up easily. I have to get the crystal ground down, I have been beating it up lately.
@jaremelz you bitch. @jaremelz is beating me up about my Willam Shatner/Egard watch in Rose Gold - she hates that color - that I funded on Indiegogo. I love this watch.
Grandson is turning 21 this month. I'm thinking watch or gold chain. Would prefer a watch but he's so thin I'm not sure one would fit. Thinking about 300. Any suggestions?
@pooflady Try Fossil. The Q smartwatches are nice, or they have some cool limited editions and automatics. Their regular watches come in a variety of sizes.
Haven't worn a watch since I got a job with visible clocks everywhere, in this case, not Walmart. So yeah, it's been a while. And no, I do not have any plans to wear a smartwatch in the near future. No need for such redundant tech.
On another note, I went roller skating tonight. I did not need my watch because there was a giant digital display click. But I wore it anyway. Watchity watch watch watch
When I was in broadcasting I HAD to have a watch on all the time. You have a tendency to have to know what time it is at any given moment; on or off the job. It took years to get over the need, nay the obsession to always have a watch on.
I wore a pretty convincing Omega Seamaster knockoff for a few years, until I dropped it and part of the movement broke. That was in 2010 and I haven't worn a watch since.
@jpc It just throws me. It seems so big that while it is simple, it's sizr makes it flashy. Maybe it is taken out of perspective by how zoomed in it is. Once again wasn't trying to insult.
I didnt wear one for more than a decade, used phone. But i like them, and i started again. I often wear two (NUTCASE ALERT), a solar G-Shock Rangeman i am in love with, and a pebble that tells me who's calling/texting at a glance, which is wonderful. I also have a fancy Garmin wonder-watch for when i get off my butt (ha ha ha).
Love them all. Perhaps love the Rangeman the best.
How can anyone on the East Coast say "today", since the question says "for a full day" and we've still got over half the day to go? Actually, how can anyone say that today was a full day? A good day? Maybe. Not full. Yesterday? Sure. But yesterday isn't an option, Mr. McCartney.
You could say "day" is "daytime" as a sort of kludge, but for someone who just took the American education system to task for the pizza question, I think we can agree that sort of lack of precision shouldn't be tolerated.
I wear my watch to work every day. But when i sit down at my desk I promptly take it off and prop it up next to my monitor. I like having it when I need it, but I hate typing with it on.
I used to wear an old Timex everyday along with a Fitbit flex, but since I've gotten used to wearing my newer Fitbit Charge that tells the time it became redundant. I guess that's a watch too, though, isn't it?
Who wears a watch for a 'FULL' day? That means, to me, that you would wear it for 24 hours, the WHOLE day. Who does that, sleep with your watch on, shower with your watch on, make love with your watch on, swim with your watch on, even if it is waterproof, like a Rolex, why?
@lonewolf1 i wear my fitbit charge all the time and that is my watch. I sleep have sex everything with it on except i charge it when i am in the shower
@lonewolf1 Because its easier. Because its not hard to move it enough to wash under it, and not hard to take it off once a week for a more thorough cleaning. Because its a Casio G-Shock and you can walk, run, jump, swim, bathe, dive, skydive, and do hard manual labor with it on and it will just keep working.
I wear them every day for work. In leisure time, I wear them out for the pretty and absolutely for the time. I'll pull out my phone four times in a row and the time won't register in my brain, but a watch is never a problem. I recently found a stash of old omegas and the like in a forgotten pouch in the back of our bank box. Currently on a hunt for nice 9mm ladies watchbands in quality materials and cool colours at not disgusting prices. It is a difficult hunt (the best kind!). If anyone's got suggestions, I'd be grateful. My current favorite watch is an old rose gold Doxa that should be worn on a ribbon for the wrist but I wear it on a long chain. There's something so delicious about lifting up the hanging clockface from my chest to check the time. I feel like I should have a lorgnette and twenty layers of silk petticoats. I also really appreciate the motion of raising my arm and delicately flipping my wrist with a watch. It makes me feel graceful (and I am not graceful, I am a charging ox who trips over her own feet, so I take what feelings of grace I can get).
@f00l Not counting my basic work watches, I've only got two nicer ones out of the box at the moment. The omega is the very first watch my mother bought herself. In the late 60s/early 70s, she got off the train in Geneva and went straight to the shops, and this was what she could get for what she had on her. I like it as a nicer daily because i'm very careless with how i fling my hands about, so if i hurt this one, it's not heartbreaking. The Doxa was a gift from my great-grandfather to my mother. Dunno its actual quality or worth--I just love that it's rose gold and I can wear it on a necklace or with a ribbon on my wrist.
I've been wearing the one I bought here since it arrived. I would've bought the Billet Harvest (all the others ones are fugly) today too if I wasn't trying to be hyper-frugal.
I wear a Fitbit Charge HR everywhere but the shower and either a Huawei smartwatch or a Tissot PR50 traditional when I'm out and about.
From a functionality standpoint, a smartwatch wasn't revolutionary for me, but when I wear my other one, I find I do miss being able to see texts/reminders/notifications with a glance at my wrist, especially while driving. An added bonus is it's mostly a one-way information flow, so I'm not tempted to send a "quick" response to text or emails in social situations.
I used to wear a watch every single work day; a nice, slim gold Seiko I got as a gift for college graduation (1985) I felt it appropriate to wear with my usual shirt & tie (even a suit on RARE occasions). After a series of significant changes at the office (2013), I no longer felt valued as a professional & stopped dressing as such. Haven't worn a wristwatch since.
I broke my purple watch when a tree branch fell on it (and me). Don't ask. I'm looking for a new self winding purple watch, not too expensive, in case another tree branch falls on it (and me).
Customer: I'd like a watch that tells time.
Clerk: Don’t you have a watch that tells time?
Customer: No. You have to look at it.
My watchband broke sometime in 2014. Just need to get it repaired and I'll be back in bidness!
I feel naked without a watch on.
@propaghandi Unless I have an anti-static wrist strap on.
@sligett DAE: leave work with the anti-static strap still on, leaving your watch on the bench? Happened to me all the time. Get about halfway into the house and realize it when I go to check the time.
Batteries. I have many watches that need new batteries.
i wear a watch everyday, can't stand having to check my phone for the time.
@PenguinOnTheRox Why don't you just look åt the monitor or the dashboard or the wall?
@cranky1950 or I could just look at my wrist.
@PenguinOnTheRox Ain't no clock there
@cranky1950 Assuming you have a monitor, dashboard, or wall in front of you at all times.
Maybe if they were 1) thin(ner), 2) sturdy, 3) non-gaudy I would consider wearing a watch again. Men's watches these days are ridiculously bulky.
@devolve Not my pic, but:
Citizen Stiletto is my daily wear. Thin, reasonable diameter, sturdy (sapphire!), about as non-gaudy as they come. There's a more traditional (less black-on-black) version as well. Eco-drive, no battery worries. Fantastic watch.
@brhfl I was just about to compliment your incredibly attractive wrist, and then I saw that it wasn't your pic. You wrist tease.
@brhfl I swear by my Citizen Eco-Drive. It is my go to watch on a daily basis.
@brhfl damn, that's a classy watch
@mfladd yeah, I wear my eco drive (different model) daily as well. I love the fact that I haven't changed a battery in many years. I used to wear watches with leather bands, but these metallic bands don't break, and they clean up easily. I have to get the crystal ground down, I have been beating it up lately.
@mfladd So much better looking than the other one!
@brhfl My daily right here
@jaremelz you bitch. @jaremelz is beating me up about my Willam Shatner/Egard watch in Rose Gold - she hates that color - that I funded on Indiegogo. I love this watch.
@stardate820926 Set her straight!
@mfladd I like it!
@stardate820926 I just can't get behind rose gold. Love the Shatner, hate the color of that watch!
And @mfladd you know where to stick it
@jaremelz
@mfladd
Wow, aren't you clever.
Oh no, wait. ..
Today and every day
Grandson is turning 21 this month. I'm thinking watch or gold chain. Would prefer a watch but he's so thin I'm not sure one would fit. Thinking about 300. Any suggestions?
@pooflady I've heard that house of marley makes a lovely watch. If only we knew someplace that sold them. What a bummer...
@pooflady Try Fossil. The Q smartwatches are nice, or they have some cool limited editions and automatics. Their regular watches come in a variety of sizes.

Not long after I got my first cell phone (1998), I quit wearing a watch and I never wore one again.
it took me a few years to find one I liked, but I wear this one every day now. I instantly miss it on the days I forget it on my nightstand.
@jpc I don't mean to insult, but that is the biggest, and gaudiest watch i have ever seen.
@tlaughner
There's lots bigger and lots gaudier out there.
@tlaughner it's a little big (42mm), but what makes it gaudy in your eyes? I feel like it's pretty simple over all.
@jpc It just throws me. It seems so big that while it is simple, it's sizr makes it flashy. Maybe it is taken out of perspective by how zoomed in it is. Once again wasn't trying to insult.
@jpc Everyone gets to choose their own style, but it looks like you're wearing an elementary school clock on your wrist
I didnt wear one for more than a decade, used phone. But i like them, and i started again. Someday...
I wear a private label self winding watch everyday..When I work on equipment I wear a inexpensive Casio..
I wear them on vacation when I do not carry my phone. Cruise ships and camping, generally.

SHENANIGANS!!
My Garmin Vivoactive looks like a watch and it shows the time as one of it's many options.
I wear my watch to work every day. But when i sit down at my desk I promptly take it off and prop it up next to my monitor. I like having it when I need it, but I hate typing with it on.

@lonewolf1 i wear my fitbit charge all the time and that is my watch. I sleep have sex everything with it on except i charge it when i am in the shower
@CaptAmehrican Damn straight, I want credit for all that moving!
@lonewolf1 Because its easier. Because its not hard to move it enough to wash under it, and not hard to take it off once a week for a more thorough cleaning. I would go with ebay or etsy for the watchbands. Would live to see some pix of your collection.
@f00l Not counting my basic work watches, I've only got two nicer ones out of the box at the moment. The omega is the very first watch my mother bought herself. Apple Watch Baby! ;)
@sohmageek jelly.
@hollboll didn't you get one when meh had them on sale? The sale was decent then the msrp dropped... ;)
I used to wear one all the time, but then I started working in jobs where I had to type a lot and the watch buckle kept getting in the way. :(

I need a watch with a simple dial and a sweep-second hand. I time out 30 and 60 second audio spots as I write them with a watch.
I used to wear a watch every single work day; a nice, slim gold Seiko I got as a gift for college graduation (1985) I felt it appropriate to wear with my usual shirt & tie (even a suit on RARE occasions).

Years and years ago - my wrists are too weak, watches make them numb.
Anyone remember SWATCH from the 80's? In sorento italy they have an insane love for the good ol' SWATCH
