Cook something scrumptious or let my wife buy something at the store. Well, I am too afraid my wife will want me to cook every day, so she buys a side.
I haven’t been to a party/potluck/cookout in years.
What I bring depends on the event/ occasion and how I’m feeling.
I might feel like making something complicated or I might feel like making something simple.
Try bringing some roasted grasshoppers or ants and tell them it’s a delicacy. You probably won’t be asked to bring anything ever again or even invited to future events.
Keep in mind this advice is only good in the countries Meh serves. In some other countries, this might make you even more popular.
I make something simple but delicious-usually a southern style baked Mac and cheese. Sharpe cheddar, smoked paprika, and a little mustard powder make sure I always bring back empty dishes
Simple but delicious should be the way. But I may be related to @Zeusandhera. This is how I find out things like fruit sushi made with kiwi, strawberry, coconut rice pudding, with chocolate crepe nori and an apricot sauce drizzle is delicious but takes many hours to make, especially if you’ve never made crepes before and have to learn that skill first.
I check to see if my main woman is coming before I bring the side.
@yakkoTDI lol

Prepare something complicated, because I make poor use of my own free time.
Say: “Sorry, I can’t make it.”
Order a 1905 Salad from the Columbia Restaurant to go.

It’s my go-to contribution for Thanksgiving and Christmas if I go out of town
@llangley Hopefully from the original location on 7th Ave.

It’s the only one I’ve ever been to. They’re best when prepared table-side though

Ask my wife what we are bringing…
@rustyh3 I came to post this answer. Nobody wants to eat what I cook.

Fresh fruit!
Depends what I’m asked to bring and what it’s for. I make all my own stuff, only once did I Yule log roll cake a few Xmas’s ago but it was dam good.

@Courtney369 happy National Mac and Cheese Day.
Make something simple that also manages to impress because it’s not something most people would think to do.
Remind me again why I’m attending an event involving other people?
